00:00All right, we had Robert Flores on yesterday, and if you've missed it,
00:05there's the situation occurring with the, I would say,
00:12arguably one of the biggest off-season acquisitions
00:20that the Astros brought in, Emai.
00:24I think he was, they gave, what, $18 million in a contract
00:29this year, three-year, $54 million deal, $18 million in his contract.
00:35Now, he does have the ability to opt out over the final two years of the contract,
00:41but this was a big piece that I think they were depending on in this rotation,
00:46and things are starting to come out over the last couple of days.
00:51Clinton Tyler, he is struggling with the American lifestyle.
00:55He has been through now three, or he is now on his third interpreter, by the way,
01:00and I said it to Tyler before the show, how do you get fired as an interpreter?
01:06Unless you're doing things that Shohei's interpreter was doing.
01:09But how do you get shot down?
01:11I mean, he is just rolling through interpreters.
01:13Well, I mean, the only thing that makes sense, right,
01:16is that he said something that Emai didn't say.
01:18I guess, and then the next guy did, too.
01:21They keep misinterpreting his ass, I'm telling you.
01:24I don't know who these guys are.
01:26What the hell's going on?
01:27But, I mean, you know, he talked about the timing of eating
01:32and just the adjustment that he is having to make,
01:36and it does feel like this is more of a serious thing than just,
01:43oh, all right, hey, it's a little homesick.
01:47We talked to Roflow yesterday.
01:49We talked to Robert Flores, MLB Network.
01:51Here was his thoughts on the issues around the Astros' latest pitcher.
01:58I think, and yes, in the social media age, people see what Emai said,
02:03and they automatically assume he's soft because that's what we do on social media.
02:07We automatically assume someone is an idiot or stupid or extremely soft.
02:12But I think there's something deeper going on here where this guy has moved to a new country.
02:18I don't know how many family members, associates made the trip with him.
02:23Our insider, John Heyman, mentioned that his trainer was having some visa problems
02:27and was unable to join him thus far in Houston.
02:31So I think that there's just a lot going on.
02:34And, oh, by the way, he's using a different baseball.
02:36He's on a different schedule.
02:37The mound is different.
02:39The league is different.
02:40The stadium is different.
02:41And, oh, by the way, you're expected to perform for a team that had postseason aspirations.
02:45I think maybe we should pump the brakes and try to use something that really hasn't been used,
02:50I'd say, in the last 15 years.
02:52And that's a little bit of empathy and a little bit of understanding.
02:55So I think he's going to be fine if he's healthy.
02:58But I think we just kind of need to pump the brakes and just kind of understand what he's going
03:03through.
03:03And this is where I want to go.
03:05And I know he's talking to you, Tyler, for your post that you've left.
03:08And hearts of the world unite.
03:10And to be like, listen, I think there is something to the homesick thing or being away.
03:19I mean, hell, I experienced it.
03:20I was here 30 days without my family.
03:23And Nicholas was three months old.
03:26You know, and I only, like, that was tough at times for me.
03:31So some people handling it, maybe it helped.
03:33I apologize.
03:34I didn't show the grace I should have shown you.
03:35And maybe I was an asset.
03:37You too, Tyler.
03:37You need to speak up, too.
03:38I don't think you saw the grace either.
03:38Oh, I prefaced all my comments by saying I like to think of myself as a dude who's empathetic.
03:43I'm talking about show.
03:44I'm not talking about your mind.
03:45In fairness to Tyler, Tyler was not here with us yet.
03:48It was bridge.
03:49Oh.
03:49And I think Tyler would have shown.
03:51But I'm just saying, like, I can get that.
03:54And I can understand how that would be tough.
03:56Just like, I completely believe that right now, let Clint, somebody grab Clint and send
04:03his ass to Australia without them girls.
04:05He ain't going.
04:07That he'd get homesick, too.
04:09Not him.
04:09But to the part.
04:10I ain't going to get homesick.
04:11I ain't going, good.
04:12Just now.
04:13But to the part that he said at the end.
04:16And this is where I want to, is he going to be fine?
04:19Like, do you, like, how big of a problem potentially is this for the Astros right now?
04:27Because this does feel different.
04:29And I think off air, we've had these conversations.
04:32And Tyler was like, it doesn't seem like, you know, the guys that the Dodgers have been able
04:36to bring over, Otani and Yami Yoto, are having similar things.
04:41How much of an issue do you think this is?
04:44Because they are, they're depending on him as a plan to be a part of this team.
04:49Well, look, I think it's a huge deal.
04:52I was going to say, yeah.
04:53I think it's, I think it's, look, it's not something to make light or to minimize when
05:00somebody is in a totally different country doing things.
05:04I mean, even the things that he's familiar with, which is baseball, even that's done
05:08differently here.
05:09I mean, again, we talked about it earlier in the week, like the workload that American
05:13players or that the American game places on pitchers is significantly more or heavier
05:19than what they do in Japan.
05:21And so that's really what matters the most.
05:23And I think that's what is, is really the problem here and what's put him in the spotlight.
05:28But yeah, I mean, look, then a young, a young guy talks about, you know, life in general
05:34and, and, you know, maybe doesn't understand the, the, the, the, the fallout of saying things
05:41like that, the magnitude of the moment, um, you know, that, that you're in and, and my
05:46man's firing interpreters left and right.
05:48Like, I mean, he, he, he is, he is, it's, it's wild, man.
05:52It's, it's, it's, it's wild that, you know, that, that, that we like, we're that critical
05:59of, of, cause I am too.
06:00I was too.
06:01Hell, I still am.
06:02And I know the situation.
06:03I'm still critical of it.
06:04I still think about, boy, your timing was, your timing was, that's the part that sucked.
06:07And there's a part of that, but even, even within that though, the timing can suck and
06:11everything, but is, is he going to be able to, to, to be a factor?
06:17I would think so.
06:18Right.
06:19Oh, that's what I was sitting there thinking about it.
06:21Clinton Tyler, when row flow was going through this live yesterday.
06:25And at the end he said, I think he'll be fine.
06:27And I've, and I promise you, I sat here and lit and mouth myself.
06:33Willie like this.
06:34This is like my, my man seemed, he seems like he is really struggling.
06:40Yeah.
06:40Like his arm is giving him problems.
06:43Like you said, the baseball stuff.
06:44Hell, that's a part of it.
06:45He's struggling from the baseball stuff.
06:47He don't know what to eat, when to eat my minute.
06:54Like it is like, I, like I wonder if this is an adjustment and hope, hopefully Clint,
06:59but by the time June comes around, he's gotten adjusted enough and he's, and he's good.
07:04Cause I'll be honest.
07:05And I think that's what Tyler said.
07:06I never saw this coming.
07:08My man, my man was at NRG baby.
07:10He had, he had the H town sign going.
07:13He was there when KD hit the game winner against the sons and was doing this.
07:18Miltime wasn't a problem.
07:19He was rolling, man.
07:20He was good.
07:22I just, yeah.
07:24I, cause I think it is, it is extremely important for the, for the Astros.
07:29Tyler, Roflo was talking directly to you.
07:31He must've read your, it felt like it.
07:34That's kind of, by the way, the more he talked, the more hot, hot he got about it.
07:37By the way, hearts of the world, man, by this contract, by the way, this contract situation,
07:41but I said he can keep opting in for that 18 a year.
07:43Yeah.
07:44He ain't going.
07:45I'm just saying, I'm just saying, if it, if he doesn't eat whenever I want to eat, if
07:49he starts to not work like pitch.
07:52Well, like it's up to him to opt in.
07:54Yeah.
07:55Right.
07:55And then, and then maybe, it may be on.
07:57He'll be on.
07:58Yeah.
07:58I hope so.
07:59I hope so.
07:59But I do think it is a, this isn't just that, oh man, give him time.
08:03I think, I think the Astros really need to look into, and I think they are looking into
08:07to make sure that this is.
08:08They need, what they need to do is get him an interpreter that works.
08:11I mean, that'd be a good start for the young fellow.
08:13Again, 713-572-4610 base power text line, YouTube at Twitch.
08:18Like what?
08:19Like multiple guys are misinterpreted him.
08:21I just want to know what, what gets you fired here.
08:24I mean, it's April.
08:26That is a good question.
08:27I like it.
08:28That is a good question.
08:30They report, they report at what, Valentine's Day?
08:32What the hell happened to go through your third?
08:36Right here, man.
08:38Jeez, we haven't even hit my birthday yet.
