00:00Meet Moflin. Moflin is a robot pet from Casio, a kind of furry robotic guinea pig that uses AI
00:06to react to your hugs, pets, and voice in real time, and gradually develops a distinct personality
00:11as you spend time together. It's also pretty adorable. Moflin displays different reactions
00:16depending on how you interact with it. Turning it upside down or waking it at night might make
00:20it grumpy, while rocking it in your arms or speaking to it gently will help it relax.
00:25The Moflife app will keep a diary of these interactions and how Moflin felt about how
00:29you spent time together throughout the day. Over time these interactions will help shape its
00:33personality. Moflin has four traits, energetic, cheerful, shy, and affectionate, and as these
00:39develop they unlock new noises and movements. I've spent a week with Moflin and so far I think it's
00:44pretty cute, and unlike a Tamagotchi which requires an ever-increasing amount of attention, Moflin here
00:50is pretty low maintenance. Although you can spend up to five hours playing before it needs recharging,
00:55nothing bad will happen if you need to tuck it into its charging bed for the day or set it
01:00to hibernate.
01:01This cute companion doesn't come cheap though. It costs $429 in the US or £369 in the UK. How much
01:08would you pay for a robot pet that you can cuddle on your own terms and doesn't need a litter
01:12tray?
