Spanish film ‘Deaf’ awarded European Parliament's 2026 LUX Prize

The European Parliament awarded its LUX film prize to 'Sorda' ('Deaf') from the Spanish director Eva Libertad and actress Miriam Garlo, who have replicated on the big screen their deep and special relationship.

00:03Sorda by Eva Libertad is the winner of the European Parliament's Lux Audience Award,
00:09selected by European citizens and members of the European Parliament.
00:13Sorda is about a deaf mother, Angela, whose relationship with her partner Hector
00:18is turned upside down by the birth of the baby.
00:21Hector and her have built that bubble of love that seems irresponsible,
00:25where they communicate very well.
00:27But of course, that bubble works when they are alone,
00:31but when the creature arrives, that bubble is pinched,
00:34and the relationship has to be opened,
00:37and then Angela sees how the focus of Hector changes,
