President Marcos has accepted the resignation of National Security Adviser Eduardo Año and has appointed former Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief Eduardo Oban Jr. as his replacement, Malacañang announced on Wednesday, April 15.

00:22saying that Año had decided to retire from public service after decades in government and the military.
00:28Castro cited its key role in strengthening the country's national security framework, advancing its counterterrorism and internal security efforts.
00:38President Marcos has then appointed Eduardo Oban Jr. as the succeeding NSA advisor who previously served as Chief of Staff
00:46of the Armed Forces.
00:49Año's resignation came at a time when Manila continues to confront maritime pressure from China in disputed waters,
00:55which she had been a key figure in interagency coordination through the National Task Force on the West Philippine Sea.
