This comes after Perikatan Nasional confirmed the leadership change and said a formal letter would be submitted to the Speaker. 00:01Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul said he had yet to receive any official notification

00:07regarding the resignation of Larut MP Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin as opposition leader.

00:14Johari confirmed the matter when contacted on Wednesday.

00:20Last Sunday, Perikatan National Chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar

00:26said he had instructed Perikatan Secretary-General Datuk Seri Taki Yuddin Hassan

00:32to forward Hamzah's resignation letter to the Speaker.

00:36Samsuri said the opposition leader post can be filled in various ways in due time.

00:41He said by the time the lawmakers enter the next parliamentary sitting,

00:46they should be able to have an opposition leader.

00:49Hamzah's resignation came two months after he was sacked by Bersatu alongside 16 other members,

00:55including five MPs and assemblymen over allegations that they sabotaged the party

01:01and attempted to oust the party president.
