00:46Thank you very much, thank you for being here today, we're very honored to be joined by
00:55two countries that the United States wants to have strong relations with and we're obviously
01:00very happy to serve in this facilitating role.
01:03This is a historic opportunity.
01:04We understand we're working against decades of history and complexities that have led us
01:09to this unique moment.
01:10And the opportunity here, I know some of you were shouting questions about ceasefires,
01:13this is a lot more than just about that.
01:15This is about bringing a permanent end to 20 or 30 years of Hezbollah's influence in this
01:21part of the world and not just the damage it's inflicted on Israel, the damage it's inflicted
01:26on the Lebanese people.
01:28We have to remember the Lebanese people are victims of Hezbollah.
01:31The Lebanese people are victims of Iranian aggression.
01:33And this needs to stop.
01:35And so our hope here, and I know this will be a process, okay?
01:38All of the complexities of this matter are not going to be resolved in the next six hours,
01:43but we can begin to move forward to create the framework where something can happen,
01:47something very positive, something very permanent, so that the people of Lebanon can have the kind
01:51of future they deserve, and so that the people of Israel can live without fear being struck by
01:56rocket attacks from the terrorist proxy of Iran.
02:00So that is the hope here today.
02:02That is what we are beginning to work.
02:03We are joined by excellent people who will be in a position to obviously take this back to the respective
02:09capitals.
02:09This is a process, not an event.
02:11This is more than just one day.
02:13This will take time.
02:14But we believe it is worth this endeavor, and it's a historic gathering that we hope to build on.
02:18And the hope today is that we can outline the framework upon which a permanent and lasting peace can be
02:24developed,
02:25so that, as I said, the people of Israel can live in peace, and the people of Lebanon can live
02:29not just in peace,
02:31but the prosperity and security that they deserve.
02:33Okay?
02:36Thank you, Bruce.
02:37Go out the back door.
02:38Out the back door.
02:39Thank you, Bruce.
