Think you know what’s inside Ripley’s Believe It or Not! in Surfers Paradise? Think again! 🤯✨

While the street front is iconic, the real magic happens when you head downstairs into the massive, expansive museum hidden beneath the Gold Coast. In today’s video, I’m giving you a sneak peek at some of the most incredible (and bizarre!) highlights from our visit.

What we explore in this video:

World Records: A look at the model of the tallest man in the world. 📏

The Macabre & Rare: Real shrunken heads from Papua New Guinea and intricate African masks. 🦴🎭

Out of This World: The Space Room, featuring a real spacesuit and a genuine meteorite from Mars! 🚀☄️

The Experience: Navigating the spinning tunnel, meeting the "Vampire Woman," and checking out the interactive zone. 🌀🧛‍♀️

Exclusive Staff Interview: 🎤
I also chat with Leo, a staff member at Ripley’s, who shares why he loves giving visitors such a unique experience and what he believes makes the Surfers Paradise museum so unique in the region.

Whether you're a local or planning a trip to the Gold Coast, this is one attraction that is truly more than meets the eye. It’s a great place for families and anyone curious about the weird and wonderful! 👋✨

00:00So we're in Ripley's, believe it or not, and apparently this is the model of the world's tallest man, and
00:09check this out, 2.72 meters.
00:31So this is a real shrunken path in Ripley's, believe it or not, a real path in Ripley's, believe it
00:51or not.
01:00So this is R2-D2 in Ripley's, believe it or not. That is so cool. We're in the astronaut room.
01:09Do you have what it takes to be an astronaut? R2-D2 certainly did.
01:18So this is a real space suit.
01:32Okay, so we're here with Leo at Ripley's, believe it or not. Hello. Thanks so much for talking to us.
01:38No, that's okay.
01:39This is an awesome place in Surfers Paradise, isn't it? Like very popular.
01:43I agree, yeah. Especially during the holidays. Amazing.
01:46Yeah. What do you reckon is the most popular exhibit?
01:50I would say there's two main ones.
01:53Yeah.
01:54People always mention the world's tallest man.
01:57We've got him, you know, he sits down, he stands up, it's great.
02:01And also the real human shrunken heads.
02:04Yeah.
02:05Yeah.
02:05They're also like an exhibit that draws people's attention, you know?
02:09So they really are real.
02:10Yeah, they're completely real.
02:12Yeah.
02:12The oldest one we have is from 1880.
02:17Wow.
02:17Yeah, but I think the most recent one is 1920, but it still gets done today, which is also, yeah.
02:25No way.
02:26Which is also, yeah.
02:27No way.
02:28Yeah.
02:28Does Ripley's need a special license to hold them here or something?
02:32I believe, yeah, there is licensure for it.
02:35So, you know, they definitely have certificates and everything that's done with that.
02:39Yeah.
02:40That's amazing.
02:41And where do they come from?
02:42What part of the world do you know?
02:43They come from, I believe, Papua New Guinea.
02:45Okay.
02:45So, in that kind of region.
02:48Yeah.
02:49So...
02:50Yeah.
02:51I can't believe they're real.
02:52Yeah.
02:53And why do you like working here?
02:55Why do I like working here?
02:56Oh, I mean, service paradise, being in Cabell Avenue, it's amazing.
03:01You see so many things, the weather's beautiful and the people around you.
03:05Also, it's an amazing place to work.
03:06We've got so many cool attractions and you get to give people so many experiences.
03:11So, it's really nice.
03:12You would meet people from all around you?
03:14Oh, my God, yeah.
03:15I never usually speak to locals.
03:17It's always tourists and everything, people always traveling, passing by, and it's nice
03:21that you get to share something with them, you know?
03:22Yeah.
03:23And what's the best thing, do you reckon, about, like, people coming here to just the
03:28really good experience or getting information?
03:31Because it's educational, too.
03:32I agree.
03:33Yeah, 100%.
03:33You know, I just feel like it's more of a one-of-a-kind type of thing, you know?
03:36You wouldn't see this sort of stuff around.
03:38I think it's very unique if people come in here.
03:41Yeah, it's definitely educational.
03:42You're not going to see things that you'd normally see.
03:44It's just everything in one place, really.
03:46So, yeah, I would come down just for, you know, that you're not going to see everything,
03:51you know?
03:51Yeah.
03:52And it's bigger than people think.
03:53Like, you've got the street sort of open area there.
03:56But now we're down in, like, the basement area.
03:58100%.
03:59Yeah.
03:59And, yeah, we've got all these exhibits around, and we're in the space area at the moment,
04:03so that's cool.
04:05Yeah.
04:06Yeah.
04:07And people love it here, obviously.
04:08Oh, 100%.
04:09Yeah.
04:09People love it.
04:11It used to just be a little, kind of, just a museum, you know?
04:14A little cube area.
04:15But now we've got our theatre and our mirror maze, so it's huge, you know?
04:19We're downstairs on the stairs.
04:21Thank you so much for talking to us.
04:23I really appreciate it.
04:24That's all good.
04:26Oh!
04:27That was a good line.
04:29Oh!
04:30That was a really good line.
04:32Oh!
04:32And then you tip them over, so that some fall in there.
04:36Now I get it.
04:38What an awesome game.
04:39I think they'll hold in the porch back for the last time.
04:41I don't think they'll watch it.
04:42It's voice.
04:44Yeah.
04:44It feels nueve.
04:54Now if this doesn't make you do me, I don't know what will.
04:59Oh!
05:00Looking through that makes me feel like I'm spinning.
05:04So this is a spinning thing around the platform that we're standing on, and wow, that is awesome.
05:15Yeah, we're spinning, spinning, spinning.
05:20Whoa, oh, I'm going to fly, but I'm really starting to feel dizzy.
05:34So this is a model of a person that holds their record for the most modifications for a human body.
06:03So this is a crocodile man, actually, please tell him or not.
06:16Oh!
06:22Oh!
06:26Oh!
06:29Oh!
06:31Oh!
06:32Oh!
06:43Oh, how embarrassing, because we're on that side, they can see us, making those faces.
06:55Oh my God!
07:06I have traveled in 201 countries, including hell, Norway, and the strangest thing I've seen
07:21is man, and Ripley said that.
07:26Wow, this has been so fun here at Ripley, so you've seen so much.
07:42Interesting flies to the top of the side.
07:45Oh, wow.
07:48Oh, wow.
07:51Wow.
07:51Wow.
07:51Wow.
