00:00You cannot have a nuclear Iran. Pope Leo would not be happy with the end result. You have hundreds
00:05of millions of people dead. I'm just responding to Pope Leo and you know his brother is a big
00:11MAGA person and he's a great guy, Louis. And I said I like Louis better than I like the Pope.
00:16He had the lowest murder rate in 125 years since 1900. He seemed to have a problem with that so
00:24there's nothing to apologize for. He's wrong. Iran is a, wants to be a nuclear nation so they can
00:32exterminate the world. No, I don't because Pope Leo said things that are wrong. He was very much
00:50against what I'm doing with regard to Iran and you cannot have a nuclear Iran. Pope Leo would
00:57not be happy with the end result. You have hundreds of millions of people dead and it's not going to
01:02happen so I can't. I think he's very weak on crime and other things so I'm not. I mean he
01:09went public.
01:10I'm just responding to Pope Leo and you know his brother is a big MAGA person and he's a great
01:15guy,
01:16Louis. And I said I like Louis better than I like the Pope. Now you have to have law and
01:21order in
01:22our country and that's what we have now. We have the lowest crime numbers we've had in a long time
01:27despite the fact that many criminals were allowed into our country but we've gotten a lot of them
01:32out. We've done a great job on crime. So we have the lowest murder rate in 125 years since 1900.
01:40The lowest murder rate. So we believe strongly in law and order and he seemed to have a problem with
01:47that so there's nothing to apologize for. He's wrong. And the other thing is he didn't like what
01:54we're doing with respect to Iran but Iran wants to be a nuclear nation so they can exterminate the
02:02world. Not going to happen.
02:04Mr. President, did you post that picture of yourself depicted as Jesus Christ himself?
02:09Well it wasn't depicted. It was me. I did post it and I thought it was me as a doctor
02:14and had to do
02:16with Red Cross as a Red Cross worker there which we support and only the fake news could come up
02:22with
02:22that one. So I just heard about it and I said how did they come up with that? It's supposed
02:29to be me
02:30as a doctor making people better. And I do make people better. I make people a lot better.
02:36As an example, the 11,000, I understand your husband's going through a treatment.
02:41Yes sir. Yes sir. He has cancer.
02:43He's going through some very serious cancer treatment. This goes a long way.
02:47Yes sir. It sure does.
03:10This is a political and religious firestorm unfolding at the highest levels of power.
03:17The President of the United States openly attacking the Pope and now facing backlash from within his
03:24own country. It began with sharp words from Donald Trump targeting Pope Leo XIV. After the Pope criticized
03:33the US war in Iran, Trump hit back saying the Pope is weak and terrible on foreign policy and going
03:41even
03:42further, I don't think he's doing a very good job. He likes crime I guess. A stunning escalation.
03:49The Pope's comments had been clear, calling for peace, rejecting war, and warning against what he described
03:57as the idolatry of power and force. He even called threats to destroy an entire civilization truly unacceptable.
04:05But instead of de-escalation, the rhetoric intensified. Trump took to social media, claiming the Pope's rise was
04:14linked to his own presidency, saying, if I wasn't in the White House, Leo wouldn't be in the Vatican.
04:21A stunning remark. And then came the backlash from within Trump's own political space. Congresswoman
04:29Marjorie Taylor Greene reportedly went as far as calling Trump the Antichrist, a dramatic break from
04:36one of his most vocal allies. Religious leaders are also pushing back. Senior Catholic voices in the US,
04:43including figures like Cardinal Robert McElroy, have criticized the war itself on 60 Minutes show,
04:51calling it not a just war and warning it fails basic moral standards. Catholic priests across the country
04:59are echoing that concern, saying the conflict in Iran does not meet the criteria for moral justification
05:06under church teaching, a rare and direct challenge to US policy. And the criticism isn't just religious,
05:14it's political, too. Senator Mark Kelly called Trump's attack on the Pope abhorrent, saying no president should
05:22attack the leader of the Catholic Church and accusing Trump of trying to deflect from the consequences of war.
05:29The divide is now clear. On one side, a president defending military action. On the other,
05:36a pope calling for peace. And in between, a growing backlash from politicians, clergy,
05:43and even former allies. Because this is more than a disagreement. It's a clash between political power
05:50and moral authority. Between war and restraint. And it's unfolding in real time with global implications.
05:58This is no longer just about foreign policy. It's about leadership, tone, responsibility,
06:05and the limits of power. Because when a US president takes on the pope, it doesn't stay political.
06:12It becomes something much bigger.
