Pope Leo said on April 13 that he had no fear of the Donald Trump administration after the US President's criticism of the leader of the 1.4-billion-member Catholic Church.

Commenting on the social media post by Trump during his 10-day tour of four African countries, the pontiff said that he would continue to speak out against war.

00:15A genuine request for forgiveness is still lacking.
00:20...that bring our hearts closer together.
00:24The future belongs to men and women of peace.
00:31Thank you very much.
00:34Thank you very much.
00:34Thank you very much.
00:39Welcome aboard.
00:41Happy to greet you all this morning.
00:44...the Trump administration.
00:47I have no fear about neither the Trump administration nor speaking out loudly about the message of the gospel.
00:54And that's what I believe.
00:56I am called to do what the church is called to do.
00:59We're not politicians.
01:00We're not looking to make foreign policies.
01:03He calls it with the same perspective that he might understand it.
01:07But I do believe that the message of the gospel, blessed are the peacemakers, is the message that the world
01:13needs to hear today.
01:14I basically said that the message of the church, my message, the message of the gospel, blessed are the peacemakers.
01:23I do not look at my role as being a political politician.
01:27I don't want to get into a debate with him.
01:30I don't think that the message of the gospel is meant to be abused in the way that some people
01:35are doing.
01:35And I will continue to speak out loud against war, looking to promote peace, promoting dialogue and multilateral relationships among
01:45the states, to look for just solutions to the problems.
01:48Too many people are suffering in the world today.
01:50Too many innocent people are being killed.
01:52And I think someone has to stand up and say there's a better way to do this.
01:56Thank you very much.
01:57Thank you very much.
