00:00No, the EU hasn't set up a UK Harmonization Office in Brussels to help undo Brexit.
00:10A series of false claims online alleges that the European Council
00:14has established a UK Office of Strategic Alignment in Brussels
00:18to pull London back into the EU.
00:20This post says that the office has been set up in the main EU building
00:24and implies that Brexit will soon be over,
00:26while this one says that it shows the EU wants to move on graciously
00:30and urges Brits not to waste the opportunity.
00:33However, unfortunately for any Remainers or rejoiners, this isn't the case.
00:38A spokesperson for the European Council described it as a typical misinformation case
00:43as no such office has been set up.
00:45They said that the working party on the United Kingdom,
00:48the Council's body responsible for managing post-Brexit relations with the UK,
00:52had also said that the claims were inaccurate.
00:54That said, it is true that the UK is trying to deepen its ties with the EU,
00:59almost 10 years after a referendum that eventually led to its departure
01:02and after successive Conservative governments dragged it further away from the bloc.
01:07We also reached out to the UK's mission to the EU,
01:10which pointed us to a speech that Prime Minister Keir Starmer gave on 1 April
01:14when he outlined the government's desire to move closer to the continent.
01:18Our long-term national interest requires closer partnership with our allies in Europe
01:25and with the European Union.
01:27Brexit did deep damage to our economy.
01:30Specifically, the UK wants closer economic and security cooperation with the EU,
01:36as part of the Labour government's European Reset,
01:38which has already seen it agree to rejoin the Erasmus scheme.
01:42With the UK-EU summit scheduled for later this year,
01:45it remains to be seen exactly how the two sides will align further,
01:48but there's no doubt that the pro-European noises coming from the current UK government
01:53are getting ever louder.
01:54great Cena.
01:54Let's talk to each other and to encourage our new reactions with the website,
01:54which means we should've come to rest.
01:55Great спины.
