02:03and raised his family there which included my mom and my uncle my uncle started collecting things in
02:11the 50s and he went to auctions all the time and was very well known unfortunately when he passed away

05:45can't even get into the house the front door and the back door are completely blocked and the steps
05:49upstairs are completely blocked there's a reason we can't let ourselves get fooled or overwhelmed with

06:46you can barely get three people in this house I mean that's how full this house is but we have

07:10and it's ten times harder because my hands are freezing a lot of this stuff is valuable a lot of

07:36salvage this stuff will sell look at these urns at first I was skeptical but we're already finding a ton
07:43of value in the yard and that's what gives me the confidence to say we're gonna find some really

08:04oh and look at all this one glass one of the big ticket items that we're looking for

08:28and there are some amazing pieces over here in the 1950s mid-century modern design put the fun in
08:35function but one accessory captured the era's space-age vibe perfectly the tall dramatically
08:41stretched silhouettes of swung glass vases to give these pieces their distinctive look a glass blower
08:48gathers molten glass from a furnace into a blowpipe the hot glass is blown into a short wide mold that
08:55gives the base its pattern while extremely hot the blower literally swings the piece downward gravity

09:08alike and mid-century modern enthusiasts still hunt for them today a white milk glass swung base recently
09:15sold at auction for over seven thousand dollars as long as they're in good condition it'll be some

17:24architectural salvage he's got tons of it in modern times if there's a building that's going to be torn
17:30down or renovated it is just bulldozed immediately with no concern for what's in or on the building but
17:36back in the day people would salvage doors windows columns fountains urns before they were destroyed the
17:44quality and craftsmanship that went into these elements of old buildings will never be made
17:49again they can be worth a lot of money what is this doing out here oh wow this is a

30:48they're still highly collectible to this day a mug made in the 1780s recently sold at auction for
30:55$110,000 I think for the whole lot for the mugs and the steins we're looking at about $1,500

33:39over the decades Roger attended our auctions that we had and also at at my store in Smokane so you're
33:50the auctioneer and he would come and bid on these Lots correct when he would come in we knew we

33:56probably gonna have a pretty good night because once he got a bead on something to take home he was

34:03it home is there any particular reason you want to buy this stuff back to decorate and to resell amazing
34:10the great thing about working with an auctioneer like this is that he knows the value of these items
34:15and he knows this is big money you know this one right here I think weighs about a ton and

34:22worth about three thousand dollars that being said with a whole yard full of them there's a lot of value
34:27here so what I'd really love to do is work out a deal for everything right right now I'm at

36:05here and then crawl through a little hole right here to get up a tiny path there was boxes and

36:18ready to go see the kitchen we are ready all right oh my god I've never seen the countertops I

36:26is an old school 50s kitchen I'll tell you that yeah I remember my grandmother loved yellow I didn't
36:33know there was an island in the kitchen never seen the sink the stove and the windows I remember they
36:41were so bright the light that comes in that I remember as a child is just the brightness and
36:48the excitement of the day and family and what the day was going to hold there is still more go

36:56out the dining room look at this this is amazing this is a beautiful room for what came out of

37:07house it's in pretty good shape and we probably took a million pounds of trash out of this house

37:22because this is where the family would spend time the house is so wide open it brings back all my
37:29memories of being a kid and being in the house with the family it's really special some of my favorite
37:37childhood memories are from here this place brings me a lot of peace I hope we've cleared enough space
37:43for you to have those memories again and you don't think of it as a hoarded house you think of
37:46it as a
37:47place your family was you've made that possible then my job is done oh my gosh I can't believe it
37:56this was a doozy you guys this one was something else this is just a miracle that it looks like

38:29ourselves I don't know that anybody could have done it by themselves I mean it took him 67 years to
38:35fill this place right was his lifetime and we didn't want it to be our lifetime amen to that

38:46probably been the most challenging hoard we've ever done from the rain to the snow all these massive
38:51piles trying to climb upstairs through tunnels everything that could be a challenge was it's
38:56almost like we this was like the SATs of hoarding you thought there was good stuff here there was good
39:02stuff here he definitely had an eye in fact I actually found an eyeball upstairs it wasn't his
39:10we sold all those Remington statues beer steins books bunch of that swan glass the gold nugget we were
39:18looking for it turned out to be gold dust oh what absolutely put us over the top was the architectural
39:24salvage $70,000 we got a deal deal thank you my friend Mike sold those amazing urns and all that
39:31salvage for $70,000 wow grand total of sales $150,000 we pulled out of the front yard and the

39:41oh my gosh you're kidding no our cleanup costs were at $50,000 that left us $100,000 to split
39:49could you do 60-40 I could but I won't 50-50 50-50 so for you guys that's $50

40:08was insane but the weather was probably as big a deal as the horde snow rain sleep hail but dude
