Todd moves into a rural family house with his loyal dog. For about five minutes, it feels like a normal relocation montage. Then the shadows start doing what shadows do, except this time they have intentions.
The pup discovers supernatural forces lurking around the corners, and when dark entities decide Todd is the main course, the “good boy” stops being cute and starts being terrifyingly committed. This is not horror that politely checks if you’re comfortable. It’s the kind where the house feels alive, the tension creeps in through the walls, and the dog’s instinct becomes the entire survival plan.
It’s exactly the sort of premise that could go cheesy. Instead, it lands with enough bite to keep you watching, even when you’re yelling “No, don’t go in there!” ---------- Todd zieht mit seinem Hund ins ländliche Familienhaus. Klingt nach sauberem Vorstadtleben. Spoiler: Im Keller ist nichts sauber. Der Welpe nimmt erst die Geräusche ernst und merkt dann, dass im Schatten wirklich etwas lauert. Und ja, es wird dunkel. Nicht nur atmosphärisch, sondern richtig, wenn Kreaturen auftauchen und Todd zur Zielscheibe machen.
Der Film setzt auf eine Idee, die man sofort versteht: Wenn ein Hund sein Rudel beschützt, ist das kein Spaß. Die Action ist überraschend konkret, die Stimmung oft schön ungemütlich, und der Ton hat diese trockene Note, die sagt: „Grusel dich ruhig. Ich meine es ernst.“ Unterhaltsam, wenn du Hundefreundlichkeit mit Horror-Grausamkeit kombinieren willst.
