Tommy Ward is a hitman with a major problem: he kills the wrong guy in London. Of course it’s the one connected to gangster boss Freddy Darby. No, there’s no “oops, my bad” button in this business.
So Tommy bolts to Los Angeles and leaves his 10-year-old son Oliver and his ex-wife Jodi behind. Then he has to do something even riskier than pulling triggers. Benson, his boss, gives him a condition. If Tommy can turn Rick, the 17-year-old son of his new situation, into a determined young man, Tommy gets a safe way back to London.
From there, Rick tags along on dangerous jobs, learning fast, trusting late, and somehow becoming part of Tommy’s operation. It’s less mentor movie, more “accidental father-son crime apprenticeship,” with a straight face.

Tommy Ward ist Auftragskiller. Klingt nach Vollprofi. Leider macht er in London einmal den falschen Job. Resultat: Ausgerechnet ein Verwandter von Freddy Darby wird zum Problem. Also packt Tommy die Flucht, landet in Los Angeles und lässt seinen Sohn Oliver (10) und seine Exfrau Jodi erst mal zurück, weil wer braucht schon Familie, wenn die Gangster nach dir suchen?
Jetzt kommt die eigentliche Karriereplanung: Sein neuer Vorgesetzter Benson will, dass Tommy den 17-jährigen Rick zu einem entschlossenen jungen Mann formt. Klingt nach Erziehung, fühlt sich aber eher wie „Babysitting mit Waffen“ an. Und während Rick mehr versteht, als ihm gut tut, begleiten sich die beiden auf gefährliche Aufträge. Dauernd. Irgendwie eingespielt. Eher aus Not als aus Stil.
