Pia is in her mid-twenties and, honestly, not having the easiest comeback story. She gets out of a psychiatric hospital and moves back into the old childhood room in her parents’ house. Then she takes a temporary job in her father’s office. Simple, right? Except nothing is simple, because the past is still sitting there, heavy and loud, even when she tries to act like everything is fine.

Everyone around her seems committed to one idea: Pia can’t possibly be “normal” again. Not her ex, not her parents, and definitely not the coworkers in the new job. It’s the kind of social suspicion that makes you feel like you’re failing a test you didn’t know you took.

The only person who looks at her without flinching is Lenni, the 12-year-old kid next door. He’s curious. Maybe that’s dangerous. Maybe it’s exactly what she needs.

Und doch wirkt alles wie umgedreht: Die Vergangenheit sitzt tiefer, als man es an der Oberfläche erwarten würde, und die Leute um sie herum tun so, als wäre sie nur eine Version, die „nach der Entlassung“ ab jetzt funktionieren müsste. Exfreund, Eltern, Kollegen. Niemand kauft Pia auch nur ansatzweise die Normalitäts-Story ab.

Dann gibt es da Lenni, zwölf, der Nachbarsjunge, der Pia nicht bewertet, sondern einfach neugierig beobachtet. Mehr braucht es manchmal nicht. Oder zu viel.
