00:00Mate, how does that feel?
00:02Look, it's good. The players have been working really hard this pre-season, so really happy for them.
00:07It wasn't our prettiest performance, but showed a lot of guts in that performance, which is what our club's all
00:12about.
00:14Exciting things to come for our club. That's the start of hopefully a few more wins ahead of us,
00:19but just showed a lot of character there, which is really proud of us.
00:23Mate, I think it was a real character build, a great defensive effort.
00:27As you said at half-time, you were doing too much defence, and you probably did it more in the
00:31second half,
00:32but, jeez, you just never gave up.
00:34We did. We showed our scramble on the line was really good.
00:37We've been working hard for each other. That's one thing I've challenged a group on, is turning up for each
00:41other.
00:42Obviously, it wasn't a pretty performance, but probably a new team, too.
00:45We're a new team, and obviously they're coming off a year that was really sort of, I suppose,
00:51into their character. So, just to show that grit and tenacity there,
00:57and just to keep turning up for a team, which was something I was really proud of.
01:01Starting point. It's a starting point for us.
01:03Obviously, we want to improve each week, but, yeah, fair bit of luck about the performance.
01:09Mate, it's been 12 months since we've been able to sing the team's song.
01:15And I've seen the boys, you know, since the start of November, all the effort that they've put in.
01:20It was really clunky tonight, let's be honest. There's plenty to work on.
01:24But the boys just never gave up.
01:26And that's what Simmo has instilled in them. It's what Garth has instilled in them.
01:31It's what we want to be as a club.
01:33So, we're on our way. We've broken the seal. We're on our way.
01:37It was epitomised, is that what you were just saying, by the last try?
01:40100% it was epitomised by the last try.
01:42And like I said, there's a lot to work on.
01:46And I'd like to see the tackle count, the amount of tackles that our boys did compared to Lakes.
01:50They just never gave up. So exciting.
01:54Young Manu, what a captain's effort.
01:56Manu Alexander.
01:57I said to Manu, I reckon two years ago when we played Wyong,
02:05if I had to have someone play for my life, I reckon Manu Alexander would be in the top five.
02:10That's what he was like tonight.
02:11It's been an inspired choice for Simmo to name him co-captain with Luke Higgins.
02:17He played the house down today. He was amazing.
02:20Luke was excellent as well.
02:21Luke was amazing as well.
02:23Yeah. Offahickey Ogden was amazing.
02:25Wasn't he?
02:26Yeah.
02:29Manu, how's that feel, mate?
02:31It's amazing.
02:32How does that feel?
02:39Cramping up. You were doing everything. You were fantastic.
02:42Yeah, it felt like I left my legs out there too.
02:44It was a bit, with any feel, but I don't know if it's been a cross.
02:47Mate, how does that feel?
02:49It feels awesome, mate. I think it just shows, I guess it's a bit of a good feeling after the
02:55six months, pretty much pre-season we've had.
02:57And I think the most impressive thing is we found a way to win, which we kind of lacked that
03:01probably last year.
03:02We could, like, Simmo's touch on it perfectly.
03:04Last year we've seen the final way to lose pretty much every game, obviously, but this time we found a
03:09way to win.
03:10So that's the most impressive thing, but, yeah, we'll take the win, but there's still so much more to work
03:14on, which is, you know, we all know that.
03:17But, yeah, it's a long year, so, yeah, super stable with the boys, but, yeah, so happy.
