00:00Morning Michael, I know this isn't a fixture that you played in many times, I think maybe once on the
00:05bench for another one,
00:06but what do you feel about this rivalry between Manchester United and Leeds United?
00:12It's gone on for an awful long time, I think that's what rivalries are there for a really good reason,
00:18I think,
00:19to be part of and the intensity and the emotion and the passion that goes into it,
00:24obviously it's got to keep within the margins, but I think that's part of the game we love,
00:31going up against other teams and essentially other areas and battling it out on the pitch,
00:37so I think it's something that we've got to embrace and as I say, it's why we're involved for these
00:43type of games
00:43and we're certainly aware of it, I'm certainly aware of it, the players are aware of it,
00:47if the extra than it means on top of the standard three points, so we're looking forward to it,
00:53it's a big night for us.
00:55What could that edge do for the stadium, for the game, for the atmosphere on Monday night?
00:59Yeah, hopefully it cranks it up and the stadium is alive, I'm sure it will be, it has been,
01:04it's been unbelievable playing at home and the boys have responded and thrived off it really,
01:10and with the support, it's given that balance and coming with us and sparing us on when we've needed that,
01:17so I expect it to be the same and with an extra little bit of edge because we're the B
01:21in Leeds.
01:23Afternoon Michael, it's been a big week of announcements with Harry Maguire's extension
01:27and also the club's pre-season schedule being confirmed for next season as well,
01:32just wonder how much you're involved in that planning, even when it came to Harry with the likes of Jason
01:38and Omar,
01:39do you feel like you are having a big influence on those types of decisions as well?
01:43Certainly in the role I'm in, there's them decisions you need taken care of,
01:47and I said it as soon as I came here, I'm part of that, of helping whatever that looks like
01:53moving forward,
01:53I'm part of that and trying to improve things and make things better all the time,
01:59so yeah, certainly there's conversations in different directions and different things that I'm definitely part of
02:05and I think it should be that way anyway because things need done, so I'm here to take care of
02:11that.
02:12Just on Mason Mount as well, saw him come back against Bournemouth for a few minutes,
02:17just wonder, is he now ready to maybe have that strong start, enter the season I should say,
02:23but also where do you see him kind of fitting in to this team?
02:25Under Reuven we saw him playing one of those 10 positions but the system's slightly changed,
02:29so where do you see him potentially fitting into the team?
02:31Yeah, well first of all it's great to have Mason back, you know, to miss him so quickly after we
02:35came in
02:36and came together, so he's obviously had nearly two, three weeks of building up and finding his rhythm,
02:45finding his sharpness, so yeah, it's great to have him back, I think his versatile is a big strength of
02:50his work,
02:51he can play through the middle, he can play midfield, he can play wide, you know,
02:57and he can do so many different roles and he's certainly a team player but he's a player that I
03:02really like,
03:02I think there's loads to come from this, you know, and we've got to give him the time to get
03:08fit again
03:09and be patient with that but he's certainly in a good place right now.
03:14Michael, Lissandro Martinez obviously went to Ireland and he's back training but it's a long time since he'd played,
03:20have you got any problems putting him in because clearly with Harry out his experience could be quite important on
03:28Monday?
03:29It's just that call that we'd make, you know, we wouldn't be pushed into anything,
03:33I think it's important that the boys are ready, it's as important as the next game always is,
03:37being the most important is the bigger picture so that's a decision that we'll take,
03:42he's back training which is great and back on the grass but we've certainly got to make the right decision
03:47and make sure he's ready.
03:50And we've spoken a lot about Matthew Stilett, he obviously wasn't there,
03:55you've said before it's back, it's unpredictable and there's no kind of time scale but what is he actually doing?
04:03So when he's back here, what is he doing?
04:06Because clearly he can't...
04:07It's just treatment and rehab and the reason he didn't come, he's not quite on the grass so he's,
04:12Patrick came back, came with us and Patrick at that stage a little bit further on so
04:17Matt is not quite at that stage yet so it was important for him to continue his rehab really
04:23and try and get him back, there's nothing else really around it, you know, it's just...
04:27So what does rehab look like for back problems?
04:33Do you want me to dissect his date?
04:35No, it's just different treatment and different exercises as you go and he's obviously in the gym
04:40and he's doing work but he's not quite on the grass and he's not ready for that yet so
04:45that's kind of the process that unfortunately when you're injured you've kind of got to go through
04:49and sometimes it happens quicker than others and sometimes there's things that don't quite go to plan
04:54and it's a bit slower and he's just at that stage where he's working through that at the moment
04:58and we're trying to get him back.
05:09Yeah, that's pretty much it really, Lissandro's back, Patrick's back on the grass but he's further away,
05:16he's not back on the grass with the team, he's back as part of his rehab and other than that
05:23really we're in good shape.
05:24And in terms of the Leeds rivalry that you sort of touched on earlier,
05:29what rulers Jonathan would get played in making people realise how it feels from the other end?
05:36Not loads actually, I think we're all aware of what the game means to the football club, to the supporters
05:44and yeah, just kind of repeating what I'm saying, I think it's something you've got to thrive on
05:49and understand when you play certain games what it means for the wider picture
05:55and for so many people in different ways, you know, and sometimes it's what you call a normal game,
06:01sometimes it's a little bit of a twist to it and this is certainly one of them.
06:04Jonathan's got his head down on that one.
06:06No, he's working as normal, so there's absolutely no issue with that.
06:09Thank you very much.
