00:00Has Mamdani been a threat to the rich?
00:03Have we seen this mass exodus of the billionaires out of the city?
00:07I don't think so.
00:08Well, two things.
00:09Mamdani is not merely a threat to the rich.
00:11Mamdani is a threat to anyone who believes in economic prosperity,
00:14that you are not regulated to live in the socioeconomic status you were born into.
00:17And number two, it's not like, what's my opinion?
00:19Just look at the data.
00:20In fact, New York State, their own government accountability office,
00:23put out a statistic that found that New York State actually lost $13 billion
00:28because our tax base of the top 1%, 2% is getting smaller and smaller
00:32because, as I was saying earlier,
00:34New York leads the country outside of California when it comes to out-migration.
00:37So people are already leaving the state.
00:40In fact, 52% of all of them-
00:41Is that just because they can't afford to live there?
00:43It's a combination of individuals are getting priced out,
00:47which is, again, why rent control would kill any incentive
00:49that property developers and landowners have to build new property
00:52and make it more affordable.
00:53It's also a combination of 52% of all of the revenue
00:57come from 2% of the tax base.
00:59So why would you pay 52% of everything you are making every single year
01:03to a government of which is incompetent,
01:06is run in a corrupt, abusive manner,
01:08and you don't see any of the services in response?
01:10So again, Mamdani did a good job at diagnosing the problem.
01:13He mentioned affordability, every other noun,
01:15but that doesn't mean he offers solutions
01:17that are in any way compelling to the majority of the people of New York.
01:21And you know who recognizes this?
01:22Weirdly enough, a person I'm not even a fan of,
01:24the governor, Kathy Hochul, Julie Mann, the city council speaker,
01:27even members of the DSA, Democratic Socialists of America,
01:31have come out against Mamdani's budget for 2026.
01:34So it's not that, you know, the rich are fleeing.
01:36It's that most people are fleeing because we can't afford it.
01:39And the policies that Mamdani would produce
01:41would make it even more unaffordable.
01:44And I have to say the idea that you would attack someone like Reem
01:47for coming in from the outside,
01:49even though she lives in the United States.
01:51Well, by that logic, Zora Mamdani, hang on, hang on, hang on.
01:54Are they fleeing because the super rich are seeking their wealth elsewhere?
01:59Like, which is it?
02:00Well, you know, you're saying both.
02:02Well, if you had the intellectual capabilities
02:05to understand what I'm saying,
02:06you'd be able to know that I actually answered it.
02:08Okay, with respect, Shabos, with respect.
02:10I literally said, sorry, with respect,
02:12if you had the brains to understand what I was saying,
02:15you'd be able to comprehend that I mentioned
02:17two things are true at the exact same time.
02:19Shabos, if you had the moral clarity that is required
02:22to engage in any type of political or social discussion,
02:27then that would be a completely different story.
02:29We wouldn't even be having this conversation right now.
02:31But unfortunately, we have to build talking points
02:33that are generic like yours.
02:34We'll keep the personal arrows out of it.
02:36Let's stick to...
02:37Because there's enough to disagree on on Mamdani's policies
02:40than disagreeing on personal elements with each other.
02:43Shabos, finish your point.
02:44Yeah, let me finish.
02:45The idea that someone like Reem can't have an opinion
02:47because she was born outside of the United States
02:49but now lives in the United States,
02:50I mean, using that same logic,
02:52I never said that.
02:53I'm saying that her opinions are completely detached
02:55from the reality.
02:56That's what I was saying, which they are.
02:58And also, it is very, very much part of the issue
03:02that we're dealing with,
03:03where we have people that have nothing to do
03:05with the lived experience that we're dealing with,
03:07trying to impose their opinion
03:09as if that opinion is more superior to it.
03:12So yeah, absolutely, there is an issue with that.
03:14Right.
03:15So by that same logic,
03:16we should not be listening to a foreign-born individual
03:18like Zohar Mamdani,
03:19who was born in Uganda
03:20and only became a citizen, what, five years ago?
03:22Someone whose own mom says
03:23he does not identify as an American.
03:25So I just want to use your own logic.
03:26So let me just recap.
03:27Two things are true at the exact same time.
03:29The wealthiest in our country.
03:31Speaking of intellect,
03:32speaking of intellect,
03:33that's actually not following the same logic at all.
03:35You're talking about someone
03:36that was literally grown up in New York
03:39and has lived in New York
03:40for the majority of his life.
03:42What is it?
03:43What is it with American politics
03:45in which everybody wants to...
03:47Have you visited New York before?
03:49Have you set foot in New York before?
03:51New York before?
03:51New York before?
03:52New York before?
03:53New York before?
03:53New York before?
03:54New York before?
03:54New York before?
03:54New York before?
03:54New York before?
