Going on a first date after years is already stressful. Adding an anonymous texter who escalates from “weird” to “how about you do exactly this or else” turns dinner into a live-action panic button.

Violet is at an upscale restaurant, dressed for a fresh start, trying to pretend her phone is just a phone. Then the messages start landing in real time. They get harsher, more specific, and suddenly the charming guy across from her isn’t the only mystery at the table.

The movie’s main game is simple: Violet keeps getting instructions, and every choice feels like the wrong one. The tension is less about jump scares and more about control, paranoia, and that sick feeling that someone out there is watching her life like it’s a checklist. It’s a thriller with a tight premise and just enough dark humor to make you squint at your own dating decisions.

Erstes Date nach Jahren. Klingt nach Romantik, ist aber erstmal nur höfliches Gelächter und das leise Hoffen, dass man beim Steak nicht wieder an alte Fehler erinnert wird. Violet sitzt mit ihrem Date im schicken Restaurant, alles wirkt kontrolliert. Dann kommen Handy-Nachrichten. Erst gemein, dann konkret, dann so drohend, dass selbst der Kellner wahrscheinlich lieber nicht weiter hinschaut.

Der Absender bleibt im Dunkeln und trotzdem hat er genau genug Macht, um den Abend zu kippen. Violet wird Schritt für Schritt zu Dingen gedrängt, die man nicht mal im Stress “aus Versehen” macht. Die Frage ist weniger, ob ihr Date nett ist. Sondern ob jemand ihr zeigt, was passiert, wenn sie nicht spurt. Satte 83% bei Rotten Tomatoes, aber Achtung: Das hier ist kein Kuschelthriller.
