01:50That's right.
01:53I'm excited about this.
01:55Lucy Liu is here tonight.
01:59Ramon Rodriguez is here tonight.
02:03We have stand-up from the great Colin Quinn.
02:08And you know him as Vecna from Stranger Things.
02:11Jamie Campbell Bower is here.
02:14Wow.
02:17Hot show.
02:18I read that Jamie's Vecna makeup took seven to eight hours each day.
02:23That's crazy. My show makeup only takes five, six hours.
02:26Tops. Top.
02:28And Netflix just announced that the final season of Stranger Things
02:30has been viewed over 100 million times.
02:34Right now, the CEO of Netflix is like,
02:36quick, throw Vecna in Bridgerton.
02:41I'd watch it.
02:42Well, people in New York City are talking about this.
02:44Subway fares have officially jumped to $3 a ride.
02:51The subway is so expensive, musicians have started busking in the back of Ubers.
02:57Yeah, it now costs $3 to ride the New York City subway.
03:01But remember, getting kicked in the head by a break dancer is still free.
03:05Cool.
03:07Speaking of New York City, do you guys see this?
03:09The NYPD recently put a truck with an electronic billboard in front of Radio City Music Hall that says,
03:14Beware of pickpockets.
03:17Yeah. Beware. Yeah.
03:18But apparently, they're putting billboard trucks all over the city.
03:21Really?
03:21Yeah, for instance, they also put one up in Times Square that says,
03:24Beware of Elmo's drinking from paper bags.
03:27It's not Elmo.
03:29That's not real.
03:30No, that's not.
03:31There's one next to a halal cart.
03:33It says, Beware of pigeons warming their feet on the griddle.
03:35Oh.
03:40This next one is on the Brooklyn Bridge.
03:42Oh.
03:42Yeah, it says, Beware of people asking you to take their picture and then handing you the most confusing,
03:46off-brand phone you've ever seen.
03:51Turn the knob.
03:52Vontex? What is Vontex?
03:53Turn the knob.
03:55And finally, there's one on Staten Island, and it just says, Beware.
03:58There you go.
04:00Very helpful billboard.
04:02Be careful.
04:05Let's get to some news.
04:07After announcing that the U.S. will be running Venezuela,
04:09President Trump is now saying that he's very serious about taking over Greenland.
04:15Today, Trump is like, We're taking all the lands.
04:17Greenland, Legoland, Candyland, Judy Garland.
04:22Judy Garland.
04:25Keep talking.
04:27Trump said we need Greenland for national security purposes.
04:31He's hoping to stop the steady flow of drugs coming in from Greenland.
04:35People getting high on sardines or something.
04:39Greenland is actually the biggest island in the world.
04:41Trump was like, It's one of the most amazing islands in the world,
04:44other than that one I never went to.
04:49Never been. Never been once.
04:52Of course, the major story is still the situation in Venezuela,
04:55and in a new interview, Trump said that the U.S. is going to fix
04:58the country in less than 18 months.
05:01Please, 18 months?
05:02Most people can't renovate their kitchen in less than 18 months.
05:06Tomorrow morning, the Senate will be briefed on Trump's plan for Venezuela,
05:09and it will be very brief, because there is no plan.
05:14Some more political news.
05:15Congress just returned to Washington following their winter recess.
05:18Yep, Congress is back for the first time in 2026.
05:21And this is nice. A lot of lawmakers shared their New Year's resolutions.
05:24Oh. Yeah.
05:25For instance, here's Congressman John Larson.
05:27His resolution is to finally give in and learn what the Internet is.
05:35Next up here is Senator Adam Schiff.
05:37His resolution is to keep two little almonds in his cheeks at all times.
05:46Up next here is Senator Roger Marshall.
05:49His resolution is to drink coffee and smoke cigarettes
05:51to neutralize the situation.
05:57Here's another.
05:58It's Congresswoman Ann Wagner.
06:01Her resolution is to play an extra in a Stranger Things spinoff
06:04without changing her hair or outfit.
06:08I'm ready. Let's shoot.
06:09Let's go. I'm ready.
06:11Camera ready.
06:15Here's another. It's Senator Brian Schatz.
06:17His resolution is to run a comb through his hair and say,
06:20Hey, whoa, hey!
06:25Next up here is Congressman Chuck Fleischman.
06:27His resolution is to stop eating gas station sushi.
06:31Huh?
06:34Huh?
06:36Up next here is Congressman Mike Thompson.
06:38His resolution is to get his bullies to stop calling him Joe Biden's Luigi.
06:47I've never heard of that one.
06:50Here's another one. It's Senator John Ossoff.
06:53His resolution is to book dinner reservations
06:55by telling everyone he's Timothee Chalamet.
06:58Next up, here's one from Congressman Michael Guest.
07:01His resolution is to return the souls he's stolen from children
07:04by appearing in their nightmares.
07:09And finally, here's Congresswoman Federica Wilson.
07:12Her resolution is to convince Beyoncé to go back on tour.
07:16Good luck with those resolutions.
07:18Everyone has to do it. Good luck.
07:22Well, so, music news.
07:24I saw that Miley Cyrus wants to write a song
07:26for the HBO hit series Heated Rivalry's second season.
07:32That'd be pretty awesome, actually.
07:34I can think of something even more awesome, Jimmy.
07:36Oh, it's our cameraman, Dan.
07:39What's more awesome, Dan?
07:41I wrote a song for Heated Rivalry.
07:43Do you want to hear it?
07:44Well, we actually don't really have time,
07:46so I don't think we can...
07:48Heck yeah! Hit it!
07:49It's a Heated Rivalry.
07:52A show about guys and they're playing hockey.
07:55It's a Heated Rivalry.
07:59Rivalry.
08:00I've never actually seen the show
08:03because my wife likes to watch it all alone.
08:06She's watching in the bedroom.
08:07I give it a knock.
08:08I try to walk in, but the door is locked.
08:11I say through the door, can I watch too?
08:14She yells back, get the hell out of here!
08:16But hey, that don't make me sad.
08:19Tonight, I'm gonna watch the show with my dad.
08:22It's a Heated Rivalry.
08:24A show about guys and they're playing hockey.
08:27It's a Heated Rivalry.
08:45Dan, Dan, stop it! Stop grunting!
08:47Get out of here!
08:48Ah, it was...
08:50Now we have no camera...
08:52Now we have no...
08:54We have no camera operator now.
08:56What are you doing?
08:58Well, guys, finally, it is Tuesday.
09:00It is time for WePost. Here we go.
09:09Welcome to WePost.
09:10This is where we, as a group,
09:12decide something that we should post on socials.
09:15I'm going to show you different posts,
09:16and we're all going to vote on whether you like each one or not.
09:19You all have voting clickers at your seats.
09:22I can tell by the confusion that you do.
09:24You can vote for all of them.
09:26You can vote for none of them.
09:27Whatever you want to do, we're going to see the results live.
09:29Higgins, Roots, you have clickers, too.
09:31I'll post whichever one gets the most likes from all of us,
09:34because it's not a me post. It's a WePost.
09:39You guys ready?
09:40Yes!
09:41All right, the first post is...
09:50That's how you sneak.
09:52All right, the votes are in.
09:54Let's see the results.
09:56Whoa!
09:58That's very interesting.
09:59Wow. That's odd.
10:00That's unbelievable.
10:02That's almost cheap.
10:03A full-on, legit, almost 50-50 split.
10:05Wow.
10:06Yeah. Wow, that's amazing.
10:08All right, good. All right, yeah.
10:09All right, this next one has got to be better than that.
10:12It says, Sweden is the only place where you can have a baby Bjorn
10:15in a baby Bjorn.
10:18This is Bjorn.
10:20This is my baby Bjorn.
10:21This is my baby Bjorn.
10:23This is my baby Bjorn.
10:24In a baby Bjorn. Yeah.
10:27All right, let's see the results on this one.
10:28Let's see what this is.
10:29I don't know. I don't know.
10:30No!
10:31What?
10:33Hey, you guys have to like one of these.
10:34You know what I mean? Give me a break.
10:36This one's good. This next one says,
10:38Batman's theme song sounds like it's making fun of him
10:40for being Batman.
10:41Na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na
10:44-na-na-na-na-na-na-na.
10:47All right, this one, I feel better.
10:49This one's a real one.
10:50I feel a little bit better about this one.
10:51Yeah, come on.
10:51Well, the other one was 50-50. Let's see the result.
10:54Whoa!
10:59That's crazy.
11:00No, no, stop, stop, stop, stop.
11:01Absolutely not.
11:02It wasn't that good.
11:04No, there's no way.
11:05Comparatively.
11:05They're being very nice.
11:06Compared to the other ones.
11:08All right, let's see this last one.
11:10I think Batman will win, but here's the last one here.
11:12This one says,
11:13Whenever something falls behind the couch, I think,
11:15well, see you the next time we move.
11:19There you go. I'm going to say yes on that.
11:20I'm going to say yes.
11:21Let's see the results.
11:24Whoa!
11:25No.
11:26The winner is Batman!
11:28That's the one.
11:29There you go.
11:31I'm going to post this during the break.
11:33If you happen to see it online, give that WePost
11:35a repost.
11:36We have a great show.
11:37Lucy Liu is here.
11:38Ramon Rodriguez is joining us.
11:40Jamie Campbell-Bower is here.
11:42And Santa from Conn Quinn.
11:43Stick around.
11:43We'll be right back with the Tonight Show
11:45one-shot jackpot.
11:47Come on back.
11:47Good.
12:01Welcome back to the Tonight Show.
12:04Guys, we are in the middle of an exciting NBA season, which means it's time for the Tonight Show
12:09one-shot jackpot.
12:10Here we go.
12:14Tonight's show!
12:16One-shot!
12:18Jackpot!
12:20That's right.
12:21Each week, one lucky audience member is going to come down and try to make a half-court basketball shot.
12:27Last time, $15,000 was up for grabs.
12:31Unfortunately for them, they missed.
12:32But that means tonight's prize is $16,000.
12:40Now, let's see who's taking the shot in this basketball.
12:44Our numbers representing the seats in our audience.
12:47Everyone, look at your seats.
12:48If I pick your number, I need you to jump up and let us know where you are.
12:52And you have to take the shot.
12:54Okay.
12:55Quest, can I get a drum roll, please?
12:59Two, four, two!
13:04All right, here we go.
13:06There we go!
13:08Come on over, bud.
13:11Nice to see you, buddy.
13:12You can stand here, face that way.
13:15What is your name and where are you from?
13:17My name is William.
13:19I'm from Shanghai, China.
13:21Hey!
13:22Come on!
13:22Welcome.
13:23Thank you for being here.
13:24Yeah.
13:25Do you play basketball?
13:28I play ping-pong, but I haven't played basketball yet.
13:30That's similar sports.
13:32Okay.
13:33Okay, you're going to get one shot, okay?
13:35If you score, you win the $16,000.
13:38That is beautifully floating and flying around.
13:40That's Nitro One's jackpot box.
13:42Okay.
13:43What would you do with the money if you win?
13:46Actually, I'm going to give it to my parents,
13:49so because they pay my all the money if I live.
13:53Oh, that is a nice thing.
13:54I hope you win this.
13:55But so you have a choice to make, okay?
14:00You can either take the half-court shot,
14:02or you can take a foul shot from here for $1,000.
14:07But you'll have to do while wearing this
14:09hashtag-the-panda mascot head.
14:11What would you like to do?
14:13Go for the $16,000 back there, or $1,000 from here
14:18with the panda head on?
14:20$16,000.
14:23That's what I'm talking about.
14:24Come on. Let's get into position.
14:26That's what I'm talking about.
14:27Whoa!
14:28All right. Here you go.
14:33Now, here's your ball.
14:34You only get one shot.
14:36If the ball hits the ceiling or the lights, that's it.
14:37No re-dos.
14:38And remember, you can't cross the line whenever you're ready.
14:41All right. I think you got this, bud.
14:58All right.
15:00Ah! You were very close.
15:02No, you were very close.
15:04That means more money will be added to the Tonight Show
15:07one-shot jackpot, but no one goes home empty-handed.
15:10You actually will go home with a Tonight Show sweatshirt
15:13autographed by me that says, you were here.
15:16There you go, bud. You were great.
15:18Thank you for playing. I appreciate this.
15:20We'll be right back with Lucy Liu, everybody.
15:23Come on back.
15:39Our first guest is a very talented actress who stars in and produced
15:44the new film, Rosemead, which opens in theaters nationwide
15:48this Friday. Please welcome Lucy Liu.
15:51Come on, that's what I'm talking about, Lucy Liu.
15:53Come on, Shane. Come on, Shane.
15:57And Lucy Liu. Come on, Shane. Come on, Shane.
16:01Come on, Shane. Come on, Shane. Come on, Shane.
16:03And Lucy Liu. Come on, that's what I'm talking about, Lucy Liu.
16:07Welcome back to the show.
16:10You look phenomenal. It's always great to see you.
16:13Happy New Year, man.
16:14Oh, my God. 2026.
16:15It's happening.
16:16I love it.
16:17What did you do for the holidays? Anything big?
16:18I do this thing with my son where instead of a gift,
16:21which I don't know if he's going to like it or not,
16:23but maybe later, I do an experience.
16:26Oh, I love it. Yeah, so I was like, okay, let's...
16:28He opens it up on Christmas Day, and he unrolls it, and it's a...
16:32Oh, my gosh. It's a great idea.
16:33Like, I took him to the Empire State Building one year.
16:36I took him to, like...
16:37This year, I took him to Harry Potter to see the show.
16:40Ooh, how do you like it? I know.
16:41I think he loved it. I mean, there's Death Eaters.
16:44So it's a little bit scary, but I think he was into it.
16:47Yeah. I've got to see it.
16:49My girls, I can't get them into Harry Potter.
16:51Oh, really?
16:52Yeah, I'm dying to get them into it.
16:53You know what? I did it when he was younger,
16:55and I played it on audiobooks.
16:57Yeah, I tried that, too.
16:58Yeah. I think I was, like, too lazy to read it.
17:00I was like, you know what? Press play.
17:03Yeah, but the voices are so good, so I don't know.
17:06Better than mine, so I was like, okay.
17:07Oh, please. I have to talk about your new movie,
17:10Rosemead. Oh, my goodness.
17:12Lucy Liu, what a performance.
17:15You know, I've known you for a long time.
17:17I don't know how you even did this.
17:19It was amazing. It is tragic.
17:21It is scary.
17:23It is just so well performed.
17:27And it's based on a true story?
17:28Yeah, it's inspired by a true story, and it's about this family that's struggling.
17:33It's really a love story between a mother and her son and the struggles behind closed doors
17:38and how they're perceived by society and their community and, ultimately, how lonely she was at the end.
17:46And it's so intense, but I think it's, like, a really great conversation starter,
17:52and we just hope that that sparks that kind of sharing.
17:55Not just in our community, but, like, in every community and in families.
17:58Variety put out a headline I just saw.
18:00It's like, the 55 of the most anticipated film performances of 2025.
18:04And look who's number two. Lucy Liu, right there for Rosemead.
18:12You have gotten rave reviews. You've won all sorts of awards at various film festivals.
18:18What does it feel like? It feels kind of crazy because we did this movie,
18:23and it took us seven years to make it.
18:25Wow.
18:26And we had 16 different investors.
18:28You know, like, people weren't sure about it.
18:31And then when we finally got it up and running and out in the theaters,
18:34like, it's a gift to be sharing it now.
18:36So it seems like a miracle.
18:37Oh, my gosh.
18:38Yeah.
18:38And the story, and your co-star, who plays your son.
18:42Yeah, Lawrence is just, first of all, he sent in a self-tape.
18:46Yeah, there were 600 people that sent in an audition tape.
18:50You guys can't even imagine how hard it is as an actor.
18:52But then to, like, submit yourself, and then this is his first role ever.
18:56So, and he's just, like, an incredible person.
18:59You guys bonded. It was amazing.
19:02How do we describe who you play? You're so unbelievable.
19:06Irene. I play this mother who just lost her husband.
19:10And she's struggling to, like, sort out the business and keep that running.
19:14And also knowing that her son, because of the stress, was diagnosed with schizophrenia.
19:19And so she's trying to figure that out and also manage the language.
19:23You know, so there's a lot of advocacy that she doesn't get
19:26because she doesn't quite understand what the doctors are telling her.
19:29Yeah.
19:30And then on top of it, like, whatever, you know, she was in remission,
19:33and then it kind of comes back.
19:34So she's struggling with, like, this heartbreaking story.
19:37But it's so incredible how much the love comes through.
19:41It's another twist and another thing.
19:41Yeah. It's almost like a thriller in that sense.
19:43And if that's your kid, you love them and you want to help them.
19:46Yes. But you don't know.
19:47In reality, you just really need to, I guess, outreach, right?
19:51And just, like, leave it out there. Put it out on the table.
19:54And your character kind of has no one else really to talk to.
19:56No. And I think that's the thing, that she's so lonely,
19:59and she makes these choices that are not the best choices in the end.
20:02And your Mandarin, by the way, is fantastic.
20:04Oh, my God. Thank you.
20:05I had to really work on it, because I haven't spoken Mandarin
20:08like that fluently since I was, like, five.
20:11I mean, it's phenomenal.
20:13I have never heard you speak.
20:14No, I was, like, really functioning
20:15on just speaking Mandarin the entire time.
20:18It's just an amazing performance.
20:20Congrats on all the rave reviews.
20:21You totally deserve it.
20:22I want to show everyone a clip. It's so good.
20:25Here's Lucy Liu in Rose Me. Take a look.
20:35I heard you there in the hallway.
20:42You were there, I heard you, and you were trying to...
20:47Hey, child, you listen to mommy.
20:50You don't know what I'm talking about.
20:53You just need to think about it.
20:55And then just, like,
21:03come on.
21:04Come on. That's how you do it.
21:06Knockout performance.
21:07Lucy Liu, everybody.
21:09Rosemead, opens in theaters.
21:10This Friday, Ramon Rodriguez joins us after the break.
21:14Stick around.
21:15Oh, congratulations.
21:32Our next guest is a talented actor
21:34and the star of the series, Will Trent,
21:37which airs every Tuesday at 8 p.m. on ABC
21:39and streams the next day on Hulu.
21:42Please welcome Ramon Rodriguez.
22:00Oh, yeah, come on, that's how you can do this.
22:09Welcome back to the show.
22:11Ramon Rodriguez.
22:16Thank you for that.
22:17What was that song that you just walked out to?
22:19Well, today is not only premiere day for Will Trent,
22:22it is Three Kings Day.
22:24Oh.
22:24And that's like our Christmas in Puerto Rico.
22:27And that was a parranda, which is what you do today.
22:30They're doing it right now, Puerto Rico,
22:32which is you go house to... It's like Christmas caroling.
22:34And so you go house to house, you sing, you know,
22:36saludo, saludo, vengo a saludar.
22:39You're calling your neighbor.
22:41You're asking for them to give you access into their home
22:43to eat their food and drink their liquor.
22:46And then...
22:46It's fantastic.
22:47Isn't that a great idea?
22:48And then you keep going to each other neighbor's house,
22:50and so you welcomed me to your house,
22:52so I had to say saludo, saludo.
22:54Thank you so much.
22:54Thank you for coming to my house and coming back.
22:56Thank you for having me.
22:57It's always a pleasure to have you.
23:00You actually brought me something,
23:02which you don't have to do.
23:03You are the gift. You know that.
23:04Well, it's Three Kings Day. We have to bear gifts.
23:07And I know last time you were kind enough
23:09to do coquito for the holidays.
23:11That's right.
23:12And this time, it was delicious. It was wonderful.
23:14And I think you said someone's mother made it.
23:17It was wonderful. Now, this time...
23:18I feel like someone's mother always has to make it.
23:21Yes, that's correct.
23:22And this time, I'm bringing you into the mountains
23:24of Puerto Rico to have some pitorro. Moonshine.
23:31You know I have more of the show to do tonight.
23:34But it's only going to get better now.
23:35It's already been great, and it's just going to get better.
23:38I'm going to start slurring my words here.
23:40What is this here?
23:41I think you're officially...
23:42We started last time like you might be Jaime Fallon.
23:46You know, for Jimmy Fallon.
23:48I love Puerto Rico so much.
23:50Look at this.
23:51Now, what?
23:51Pitorro!
23:53Oh, shall we do a shot?
23:54I think we should. Absolutely.
23:58Salud, my friend.
23:59Salud.
24:07By the way, take it.
24:08Eso! Eso!
24:11It's actually smooth.
24:13It's smooth.
24:14But it's got a...
24:15But you keep doing it, and it's just...
24:18Well, I'm in second gear now.
24:19Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, wow, wow.
24:21Yeah, I dropped it down. Oh, my gosh.
24:23There you go. Thank you, Ben.
24:24By the way, they just rocked that Parranda song.
24:26I got to give it up there.
24:27They're the best. No, come on.
24:27Killing it.
24:30Let's talk about Will Trent.
24:31Congratulations. It premiered earlier tonight.
24:33Thank you. It's a big hit.
24:35The show can be pretty serious, but it's also very funny.
24:37And you got to direct again this season.
24:39I got to direct the season premiere once again,
24:41which is quite the honor.
24:43How's your co-star there, Betty?
24:45Bluebell. That's my girl.
24:47You know, she's amazing.
24:49We do these shots often where I'm driving the Porsche,
24:52and she's right there with me.
24:53Yeah.
24:53And it looks chill.
24:55She's, like, harnessed with, like, a safety line.
24:58Of course.
24:58And there's a person hidden in the back seat under a black tarp
25:03in the dead of summer, making sure she doesn't fly away.
25:06Yes, of course.
25:07Very good. You have to take care of that baby.
25:11Yeah. So, yeah, she's amazing.
25:13How do we say what's happening in season four of Will Trent?
25:16You know, we are blessed to do another season.
25:20We wanted to really touch on the subject of this character,
25:22who's always in his three-piece suit, sort of really tidy.
25:25That he's, you know, we wanted to see him unravel.
25:28Let's deconstruct this character,
25:30who hasn't dealt with a lot of his issues.
25:32He's in therapy now.
25:34And that brings up all kinds of interesting things.
25:37Played by my therapist is Margaret Cho.
25:38Oh, my gosh. She's so funny.
25:40So she's wonderful.
25:41And then we always find our moments for some comedy and levity.
25:44And then, of course, we have Betty, which is amazing.
25:46I want to show a clip.
25:47Here's Ramon Rodriguez in Will Trent.
25:50Take a look at this.
25:51How's Angie?
25:56Still pregnant.
25:57How do you feel about that?
26:00A little lost.
26:02Keep talking.
26:04We've only had each other for our entire lives.
26:07Now she's moved on to a very successful, emotionally secure doctor,
26:13and I couldn't be happier about it.
26:15Really?
26:16Yes.
26:17Because it would be perfectly understandable for you to have some mixed feelings about that.
26:23I do not.
26:23I mean, if you weren't so scared.
26:27I'm fine.
26:28I said I'm fine.
26:29I'm so fine that I'm great.
26:30Yeah, come on.
26:33Dude, have a...
26:34He's got no issues.
26:36Betty watching the ball.
26:38Therapy doing pickleball.
26:40Ramon Rodriguez, everybody.
26:41Will Trent airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on ABC.
26:46Streams the next day on Hulu.
26:47We'll be right back with Jamie Campbell-Bauer.
26:50Stick around.
26:51How are you doing?
27:08You know our next guest from his role as Vecna in the biggest show in the world,
27:12Stranger Things.
27:15The fifth and final...
27:16I know he's amazing.
27:17The fifth and final season is now playing only on Netflix.
27:21Everyone, please welcome Jamie Campbell-Bauer.
27:24I know he'spressing you again.
27:31Love is waiting.
27:32It's so beautiful That's the beginning.
27:37God.
27:38Chris, look at this.
27:40That's what I was talking about.
27:41Look at that. Look at that. Come on.
27:48Jamie! Jamie, welcome back.
27:50Congrats on the finale of Stranger Things,
27:53the final season. This is it.
27:54Thank you so much for having me back.
27:56It's such a pleasure.
27:57What are you talking about?
27:57I can't believe it.
27:59I'm so happy you're back.
28:00Man, oh, man, you were unbelievable in this.
28:02You really crushed it.
28:03You got to really work it out this season, man.
28:06Oh, my gosh.
28:07And I want to tell everyone who's watching,
28:09there will be spoilers.
28:10So, if you're watching and haven't seen it,
28:13pause this, watch the finale,
28:15then watch the rest of this interview.
28:17All right. Let's get into it.
28:19I gave you everyone a warning, okay?
28:22Vecna doesn't make it.
28:27Uh...
28:28Why are you clapping?
28:29No, yeah, no, yeah.
28:30Half the people clapped.
28:31Half the people were like, no.
28:32Some people said, aw.
28:34Did you know that Vecna was going to die?
28:36When did you find out?
28:37I found out at the table read for Episode 8.
28:40You did?
28:40Yeah, yeah. That was it, you know?
28:42Which was, again, like, a really strange experience
28:45because I got COVID for that table read.
28:49And so everybody's in, like, in the studio in Atlanta,
28:52and I'm stuck behind a computer screen
28:54in my little, like, apartment in Atlanta,
28:56watching everybody. Isolated, alone, lonely, like Vecna.
29:00Wow. Yeah.
29:02You're really a method actor. Wow. Yeah.
29:05Yeah, fully committing to the bit.
29:06Yeah, exactly. Exactly.
29:09But so you found that out, and I think...
29:11I mean, I'm happy with that.
29:13I think that's the ending that... Right?
29:15Yeah, it's the ending the show deserves.
29:17I mean, I'm, like, I've been a fan of the show
29:18since the start, so, like, even just joining the show
29:21was a huge achievement, I suppose, and just, like,
29:24I felt very honored and blessed to be a part of it.
29:27Yeah.
29:28Even as the actor that plays Vecna, like, it just feels right.
29:31You know, the show is so much about friendship and love
29:34and hope and joy, and, of course, like,
29:37the person who is not that has to go, you know?
29:41All he really needs is a hug, though.
29:43That's all he really needed was a hug, yeah.
29:45We had Jay Connolly on the show, who plays Derek.
29:48Yes. Who is unbelievable.
29:50He is, my gosh, he's phenomenal.
29:53And he came on the show, and I asked him before the finale
29:56to write a question for you that will seal and only open
29:59when you come on the show, and you will read the answer to that.
30:03But I don't know what the question is,
30:04because I haven't opened it.
30:05Okay.
30:05So, actually, hopefully, it's a great question.
30:07Do you want me to open it?
30:08Yeah. I'm scared.
30:09This is all you. You're scared?
30:11I'm terrified.
30:11You're Vecna. You can't be scared.
30:13Derek scares me.
30:14Okay.
30:17Um, oh, bless you, Jake. Hi, Jake.
30:21Jake has written, How does decapitation feel?
30:28I love that kid.
30:30He's so cool, man.
30:32I personally can't wait to see the mayonnaise documentary.
30:34Yeah.
30:35I love that, sir. It's unbelievable.
30:38How did it feel?
30:41I feel lighter.
30:43Yes.
30:44It felt, again, like it felt appropriate.
30:47I mean, and to have Winona Ryder cutting off your head
30:50is pretty cool.
30:52Oh, and she had one of the best lines of the episode.
30:54She really did.
30:55Oh, nailed that she nailed that it was so good.
30:57It was so intense.
30:58And, like, she's so sweet and so kind.
31:01And she was like, I don't want to hurt you.
31:02And I was like, no, it's fine.
31:03We're all doing this together. It's going to be great.
31:05And then, like, I'm gurgling on the spike.
31:07It's like, it's a lot.
31:08You did a great job.
31:10Thank you so much.
31:10But that gurgling is...
31:13How would you even practice for that?
31:14I mean...
31:15A lot of water in the mouth in the morning just, like, sat there.
31:18Yeah. Yeah, it's gross.
31:19Yeah.
31:20Well, I thought it'd be fun if I showed some photos of you
31:23throughout season four and season five.
31:24And maybe you can tell me some things about...
31:27First of all, a lot of people are saying that your body
31:31really changed between season four and season five.
31:36That's season four, Vecna.
31:38That's season five.
31:41What happened?
31:43Ozempic? Or what are we talking about here?
31:47Manjaro.
31:47Yeah, Manjaro. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
31:51You're more jacked in season five in kind of a different shape.
31:55I mean...
31:55Snatched, Jimmy. We can say it. Snatched.
31:57Thank you. Yes.
31:58Snatched. Absolutely, yes.
32:01Yeah.
32:01Was that just a choice or just because he's more powerful now?
32:05Yeah, I think, you know, at the end of four,
32:08he gets thrown out a window, shot, and set on fire.
32:11There you go.
32:11It's, you know, it's a lot to go through.
32:13You think?
32:15And within that, like, I know Michael Meher and the Duffers wanted to...
32:19Michael's our VFX supervisor and coordinator,
32:21and, like, he wanted to make him, like, have parts of him missing,
32:26and I think also just bring in a bit more of the sort of Vecna
32:29from D&D as well, actually, ultimately, from what I've seen.
32:33And so within that, it was more of a, like, sort of cross-collaboration
32:36between departments of, like, Barry Gower and the BGFX team,
32:40sort of here upwards was prosthetic.
32:43Great job. They did such a phenomenal job.
32:44Huge. Yeah, it was amazing.
32:47Vecna would use his left hand to channel his powers.
32:50And I happen to have a few Vecna hands right now.
32:56I was just wondering if you'd like to maybe see if you can get
32:59the powers back.
33:01I would love to, Jamie. This sounds like fun.
33:03This is...
33:05This is terrifying.
33:08Oh, gross. It's wet. It's not wet.
33:12It is wet, a little bit.
33:14I'm in.
33:15I'm in, too, man.
33:16Okay. What do we do?
33:17So, I mean, I use my left hand to, like, suck people's brains
33:21like this. And you really have to go in.
33:23So we're going to see what's in each other's minds.
33:25All right. So we'll see what's in each other's minds.
33:27All right? All right. Hold on.
33:28Wait. Am I doing it right?
33:30And you have to roll your eyes up like this.
33:34All right. And then on the count of three, we have to say what we're thinking.
33:45Okay. One, two, three.
33:49Eleven lives.
33:53Jamie Campbell Bower, everyone!
33:55The fifth and final season of Stranger Things is now playing only on Netflix.
34:00We'll be right back with stand-up from Colin Quinn. Stick around!
34:22This next guest is the best comedian of all time.
34:26And without him helping my career, I'd be no better than a subway rat.
34:35You can see him at the Comedy Cellar this weekend.
34:38Please welcome the very funny Colin Quinn.
34:49Oh, my God. What an intro. I mean, that was too much.
34:52But if that's how he feels, I'm not going to tell people how to feel about themselves.
34:56Folks, new year.
34:59Thank God we're done with that year.
35:00That's what you have to say at the beginning of every year.
35:02You have to insult the year you just lived in.
35:04You're like, that was the worst.
35:06You throw it under the bus and move on.
35:08Um, which I'll do with that joke.
35:11Um, folks, I love this country, but I think we should sell.
35:17Now, listen, we hit a wall.
35:20There's nothing wrong with that. It happens.
35:22Just see if there's interest out there, you know what I mean?
35:25How they do it on HGTV, knock down the Rockies, open concept.
35:28You know, see...
35:31Because technology made us think that we evolve.
35:35And really, we still have wars, which is embarrassing.
35:38I mean, in the old days, cavemen, whatever, you know, they were violent.
35:42Now we have the top minds.
35:45We spend millions of dollars, every country, a five-star hotel, earpieces, laptops.
35:51Stayed a month there. What do you guys figure out?
35:53Uh, we're gonna kill them.
35:54Really?
35:56You could have had two gang members to that for half a kilo, you know?
35:59I know people still use half a kilo, but, you know, back in my day.
36:02And, um...
36:04But...
36:05Yeah.
36:06And now we feel we've evolved, because now we think war is bad.
36:08That's the only way we've evolved.
36:10We still have wars all the time, but we're like, war, terrible.
36:13That's not evolved.
36:14That's even worse, because you're telling young guys, we want you to go into battle,
36:19but we think it's a mistake, but good luck, charge.
36:23But we don't know if this is a good idea.
36:26At least in the old days, you had a little passion.
36:28The king would get out and be like, we're going to war.
36:31France.
36:31It was always England and France.
36:33The king would be like, you know, he bad-mouthed France, because he was educated there.
36:36So he's like, France, trust me, when you meet them, you're gonna want to kill them.
36:40They're snarky and ironic, and they compliment you.
36:44On the way home, you realize it's actually kind of an insult in many ways.
36:49Yeah, the king would just give you war speech.
36:51That's what the leader's supposed to do.
36:53They'd be out there and just, the valiant to only die once, who sheds blood with me,
36:59on this precious stone in England, the fire I'd made of smoky war, the purple testament
37:05of mounted...
37:06Now, even 48 years ago, we'd be like, we'll fight them in the beaches, fight them in the
37:11streets.
37:12It's tyranny, we'll never rule this nation, you know, and guys would fight.
37:16Now it's a different world.
37:18If we have World War III, God forbid, but probably be a few years from now, probably a Gen Z
37:25president
37:25by then, you know, but you'll still need a war speech.
37:29And they'll be like, the president would like to speak on the brink of war, comes out to the
37:34state of the union, the nation away, to be like, okay, so this is random.
37:43So, yeah, Russia's a lot, Russia's a lot, not going to lie, and North Korea low-key supporting
37:52them, so just want to kind of put that out there.
37:56And Iran is burning off flags.
38:00It's like, when people tell you who they are, believe them.
38:04Um, Iran's going to Iran, and Yemen, Yemen is literally threatening us.
38:10Like, what is happening?
38:12Like, Yemen, like, bro, no, you do not want this.
38:17You're not that country.
38:19You are not built for this.
38:20I don't want this, facts, truths, trust, but it's like, Saudi, come get your boys, you
38:28know, it's like, and Syria's tweaking, Syria's ISIS is back, which, been a minute, and ISIS
38:37fell off in 2017, and Turkey is buying weapons off Russia, which, they're a NATO member, so
38:48it hits different, obviously, the good news, our allies, England and France, have said
38:55they're down for whatever, but China is, China's a real one, China's having a moment, but they're
39:04still spying on us, like, China, stop, stop spying, you're doing too much, China, China got
39:12me, like, ready to crash out, but, uh, but I say to you, my fellow Americans, I stand
39:20here, and I say to you, what are we even doing?
39:23Like, make it make sense.
39:25Like, I don't even know how to have this conversation right now.
39:29I mean, war is hell, and I get it, but if we're going to go, if you're prepared, look
39:36deep into your souls, and ask yourselves, am I about it, because this is serious, you
39:43guys, this is, like, really happening, and if we do it, we have to stay positive, stay
39:48motivated, stay hydrated, and if you're willing to sacrifice for your country, sign up with
39:57promo code, live into your death, 76.
40:01Colin Quinn, thank you very much.
40:02Thank you, Colin.
40:12Colin Quinn, come on, that's how you do it right there.
40:16See Colin at the Comedy Cellar in New York this weekend.
40:19My thanks to Lucy Liu, Ramon Rodriguez, Jamie Campbell-Bauer, Colin Quinn once again.
40:25Thank you, Colin.
40:27And the Roots from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
40:33Stay tuned for Late Night with Seth Meyers.
40:35Good night, everybody.
40:37Get involved.
40:38Better get involved.
40:40Get involved.
