A US delegation led by Vice President JD Vance arrived in Pakistan on Saturday for talks with Iranian officials aimed at shoring up a shaky ceasefire and paving the way for a permanent end to the fighting.

It marks the first such meeting since the war began more than a month ago.

00:18aimed at making a broader deal to stop the fighting permanently.
00:22Iran's semi-official Tasnim news agency close to the paramilitary Revolutionary Guard
00:27claimed that the talk set would not happen unless Israel stopped its attacks in Lebanon.
00:33And U.S. President Donald Trump said on his social media platform
00:37that Iran has no leverage except to restrict ship traffic in the Strait,
00:42through which 20% of the world's traded oil once passed.
00:46Kuwait, meanwhile, said it was targeted by seven drone attacks since Thursday
00:50that it blamed on Iran and its militia allies in the region.
00:54Though the Guard denied launching any assault,
00:57it has carried out attacks across the Mideast in the past that it did not claim.
01:02Preparations for the talks between Iran and the U.S. appeared to be moving forward,
01:06with Vance boarding Air Force Two for the long flight to Islamabad.
