00:00Good evening everyone. Today is not just a graduation ceremony, it is a special moment
00:06where memories meet dreams and students here become future leaders.
00:13When the stool team came to meet me and invite me for this ceremony,
00:19what surprised me most was the theme that you chose, which is pioneering possibilities.
00:25It says a lot about the students here, the vision that you have, because this is not just a theme,
00:32it's a mindset. It reflects courage, it reflects curiosity.
00:39It honestly reflects a generation that is not afraid to ask what's next, and more importantly,
00:46why not? And this is exactly what the world needs today.
00:54I would like to acknowledge Brijayji's vision at the Sattva group, the role that he's played
01:03in shaping not just infrastructure, but institutions like Greenwood High.
01:10Today, Sattva is also becoming part of the growth in the great state of Andhra Pradesh,
01:15and that is where I met Neeruji. And she spoke on and on about Greenwood, and she invited me to
01:23come.
01:24And that is how this connection began, and that is how I have the privilege of standing before all of
01:30you here today.
01:31And I must say, what I see here today is not merely infrastructure,
01:35but what really excites me is institutions like Greenwood High are truly creating global citizens.
01:44Standing here also makes me nostalgic.
01:47It reminds me of my graduation days at Carnegie Mellon and at Stanford,
01:53where I remember those days were filled with dreams,
01:56ambition, and a lot of uncertainty in front of me.
02:01But one thing I learned, education is not just what you learn,
02:06but it is about how you learn to think.
02:10And that is something I strongly see here,
02:13a system that prepares you not just for exams, but for life.
02:19Before I go further, I'd like to ask the young batch here a few questions.
02:26Show of hands, how many of you want to be doctors?
02:33How many of you want to be engineers?
02:36Law graduates?
02:39How many of you are choosing a career in arts?
02:45How many of you want to be politicians?
02:51India's future is secured.
02:56You know, whatever path you choose, please remember this.
02:59Don't follow trends, follow purpose.
03:03Trends change, but purpose will always sustain.
03:08Always choose the road less traveled.
03:12Many of you see me as a minister today,
03:14but my life journey has not been a straight line.
03:17The highs have always been very high,
03:20and the lows have been extremely low.
03:23I first became a minister in the year 2017.
03:26I joined Mr. Naidu's third term as chief minister,
03:30as the Panchayat Raj Rural Development ITL Electronics Minister.
03:35I sat in a room, I took decisions,
03:38and I could feel the impact that we had
03:40in the remotest villages of Andhra Pradesh.
03:43That is the power of responsibility,
03:45but life also has its own way of testing you.
03:48In 2019, I had the audacity to choose
03:52an electoral constituency that my party did not win
03:56for almost 40 years.
04:00I thought, I'm lokesh, I'll definitely win.
04:04And I lost.
04:07First, that movement could have broken me,
04:11but honestly, it has built me.
04:14And I have a new definition for fail.
04:16I call it first attempt in learning.
04:21After the defeat,
04:22I took a decision not to step back,
04:24but to actually step forward.
04:26In 2023, I undertook a padhiyatra,
04:30which enabled me to really understand my state,
04:34understand the aspirations of the youth,
04:36the farmers, the employees,
04:39the students.
04:40It enabled me to build a lot of emotional quotient
04:44for all the decisions that I take today.
04:51I had an opportunity
04:54to meet farmers,
04:56women,
04:57to understand their aspirations,
04:59and to really connect
05:01at a level that I never did
05:03in the past.
05:05Because until then,
05:06I had seen life
05:07from the system's perspective.
05:10But during that journey,
05:11I saw life
05:13from people's perspective.
05:15And trust me,
05:17those two are very different perspectives.
05:19And then came my next chapter.
05:22In 2024,
05:24the subsequent election,
05:25I went back to the same constituency,
05:28Mangalgiri.
05:29Same people,
05:31same place,
05:32but this time around,
05:33it was different.
05:34I had a very deep connection
05:35with my people
05:37and a stronger understanding
05:38and a stronger conviction
05:40to win their heart.
05:42And it was not just a win for me.
05:45It was a win
05:46for my constituency.
05:48I won with the majority,
05:49which is the third highest ever
05:50in the history
05:51of the state of Andhra Pradesh.
05:56You know,
05:57when I look back
05:58and I reflect,
05:59that journey was not mine.
06:01It was a reflection of trust.
06:03It was a result of listening.
06:05It was a proof
06:06that when you connect
06:07with people genuinely,
06:09change happens.
06:11pioneering possibilities
06:13is not always about
06:14creating something entirely new.
06:16Sometimes it's about seeing
06:18what other people haven't seen.
06:21It's about listening
06:22where others ignore.
06:24It's about standing up
06:26when it's easier to sit down.
06:28I always tell my students
06:29in my state
06:31something which is very simple
06:33yet very powerful.
06:35And I hope all of you
06:36have your notepad and pen ready.
06:38Never do anything
06:40that you cannot openly tell your mother.
06:43I'd like to repeat it.

06:50If every decision in your life
06:51passes this test,
06:53then you will never go wrong.
06:55Because in a world of shortcuts,
06:57ethics is your greatest strength.
07:00You know,
07:01I go to a lot of admissions events
07:03of Stanford, Carnegie Mellon.
07:05And particularly for Stanford,
07:06a lot of the aspiring students
07:08ask me a question
07:09on how is Stanford different
07:11from other universities.
07:13And when I reflect back,
07:15there's one powerful movement
07:18that really moves me.
07:21We used to write examinations
07:23without invigilators.
07:25You heard it right.
07:26We had no invigilators.
07:27The professor would come,
07:29keep the exam papers on the table
07:31and would leave.
07:32We would go collect it,
07:34write our exams
07:35and once we are done,
07:37we would leave.
07:39Now that I think about it,
07:41you know,
07:41what stops someone from cheating?
07:43Nothing except integrity.
07:46And I honestly felt that,
07:48you know,
07:48the system there
07:49was not about
07:51testing our knowledge.
07:53It was testing our character.
07:55And that lesson
07:57stayed with me
07:58for the rest of my life.
08:00Character is what you do
08:01when no one is looking at you.
08:05There was another interesting practice
08:07at Stanford
08:08where we had a board
08:09in the classroom
08:10and as students,
08:11we would write
08:12if there's anything
08:13that we would love
08:13to learn about.
08:14It could be AI,
08:16it could be about learning
08:16about wine
08:17or our journey in life.
08:19And other students
08:20would go by
08:21and if they were interested
08:23to collaborate
08:23and share their experiences,
08:25they would actually
08:25write their name.
08:27And that was the power
08:28of collaboration.
08:29That was the power
08:30of peer learning
08:31that I had at Stanford.
08:33And that is the network
08:34you build
08:35in institutions like that.
08:37Today,
08:38as you're stepping into a world
08:40that is changing
08:41faster than ever,
08:43technology is evolving,
08:44jobs are changing,
08:46entire industries
08:47are transforming.
08:49Some of the jobs

08:51are in sectors

09:04is to have that fire
