00:02Apple Inc. is closing its retail store in Tucson, Maryland, which gained national attention as the
00:07center of a rare employee unionization effort, according to Bloomberg. The company cited
00:12declining conditions and retailer departures at the mall and informed employees the same day
00:16after closing the store and holding a meeting. Apple is also closing stores in Connecticut and
00:21near San Diego in June. Towson employees who are unionized said they were surprised and
00:25believed the union offered protection. Apple said employees can apply for open roles under
00:30the collective bargaining agreement, but will not receive transfers to nearby locations.
00:34The union called the move union busting and said it is exploring legal options.
