00:17Here we go.
00:50Yeah, so emperor penguins are heavily dependent on sea ice as a nesting platform, a platform
00:56on which to molt, and also they forage in the pack ice so lots of the prey that they depend
01:02upon is very ice dependent, so clearly in a warming climate sea ice tends to disappear
01:09so it gets broken up, it doesn't last as long, it's not as extensive and that can impact
01:15on their breeding success and survival.
01:36So emperor penguins are emblematic species, they have a very high profile in the media
01:43so you have March of the Penguins and Happy Feet, programs like that really sort of elevate
01:48them in the public eye and when their populations start to decline that obviously generates far
01:55wider concern.
02:11To survive they work together, they huddle and I think that's really a good metaphor for
02:18how humans on a densely populated planet need to be.
02:22We need to work together to change greenhouse gas emissions.
02:27So Keith, where do I go and say arkadaĹlar tonadze?
02:27want to climb that mountain mountain mountain in ꡸ë°ë° we and our friends, we and the

03:23Antarctic fur seals over the last nearly three decades, they have been declining pretty steadily,
03:30so it doesn't really surprise me. What is surprising is the speed of the decline,
03:37and that's the reason why they have been listed as endangered.
03:42Normally, for a very abundant species like the Antarctic fur seal,
03:46there used to be three and a half million, which is quite a big number.
03:53It simply doesn't apply to the
