00:00My name is Dr. Priyam Wada Singh and I work in Chemistry Vibhag Miranda House.
00:09This is our Chemical Chemistry Research Laboratory,
00:15where we spend our medicinal chemistry.
00:18Our main focus is malaria.
00:21We all know that it is a life-threatening disease
00:25and this is a pink female and a police.
00:30I will tell you that there are many species
00:35which are the most deadly and known species.
00:41If we look at the WHO report,
00:43according to this year,
00:46there are more than 28 crore in this year.
00:51There are more than people who have used malaria.
00:53There are more than 6,000,000 people.
00:57If we look at the same time,
01:01there is no medicine available to malaria.
01:05There is no anti-malarial which is 100% effective.
01:08Doctors, patients,
01:11they are prescribed some drugs
01:13which are basically chloroquine-based
01:15or artemisnam-based combination therapies.
01:18They have 2 or 3 drugs
01:20to get patients.
01:22But there is no such drug
01:24which is 100% effective.
01:27In this case,
01:30our research lab
01:31has been called
01:33noble heterocyclic compounds
01:35which have become malaria
01:37from the blood of malaria.
01:40In this case,
01:41I am saying that
01:42I am very happy to say
01:43that
01:43we have done this work
01:44in the past 10 years.
01:46We have done this work
01:48in collaboration with
01:49Delhi, India
01:52and India's prestigious institutes
01:56in the past 10 years
01:56like Hansraj college
01:58Professor Vijesh Rathi,
02:02NII
02:03National Institute of
02:04Ruminology
02:04Professor Agam Prasar Singh
02:06who are especially
02:07in malaria
02:08in Liber State
02:09and in the
02:11Smart Institute
02:12in Singapore
02:12Professor Julian Lester
02:14whose work is
02:15in malaria
02:17and
02:18in the
02:19Razeera
02:20Professor Lindomar Pina
02:22who is basically
02:24biologist
02:25This is our collaboration and we have been trying to develop a novel heterocyclic compound and study biological activity in
02:35this area.
02:37In this area, we have made more novel heterocyclic compounds in this area.
02:44They have purified, we have synthesized, purified and characterized.
02:51And I am very happy to tell you that in this area, 10-15 compounds are much more effective.
03:02The treatment of patients like artemational-based treatment or chloroquine-based treatment
03:11are much better results and in low doses.
03:19In vitro biological assays, our compound is not toxic.
03:29In vitro cell models have a good result in vitro.
03:47Thalamite-based compounds.
03:49And recently, we have made gonadine-based compounds.
03:52We have made some molecules from Indian patent and US patent.
03:57So, I hope that in the future, this collaboration will be more effective.
04:06and our goal is to create a new device that will come to the market.
04:13I would like to thank Professor Vijay Rashminanda,
04:18who always motivates us and promotes advanced research.
04:23I would like to say that Miranda House will give a significant contribution
04:31whether it is public health or drug discovery process.
