00:00Liverpool FC have seen their Champions League hopes suffer a major setback following a defeat to reigning European champions Paris
00:11Saint-Germain in the French capital.
00:14The loss is their 16th of the season and has left the tie firmly in the balance heading into the
00:21second leg.
00:22Desiree Dwey opened the scoring with a deflected effort that looped in over the goalkeeper.
00:30Vicka Kravatschkeliya later doubled the advantage with a moment of individual quality, taking on a few defenders and sitting them
00:40down as he slotted the ball into an empty net.
00:44Liverpool failed to register a single shot on target in the whole 90 minutes, leaving them with a significant challenge
00:51to overturn the deficit at Anfield next Tuesday.
00:55Magical things have happened at that ground though, but this defeat followed a heavy defeat to Manchester City in their
01:03previous outing.
01:04Further compounding concerns over form is a total of conceding six goals and scoring none.
01:10Manager Arne Slott set up with a five-man defence against PSG, something we haven't seen Liverpool do this season.
01:18However, PSG still took control early on, scoring in just the 11th minute of the game and maintaining pressure for
01:27much of the game as well.
01:28It could have been more. There was a penalty that had been overturned by VAR after it was deemed Canate
01:34made a good tackle inside the box.
01:38After the defeat, Liverpool manager Arne Slott spoke to the press. Here is what he had to say.
01:44Probably, I have to refer to last season, what gives me the best feeling, and I have to refer to
01:50the history of this club, how much impact Anfield can make for a performance.
01:55We were outplayed here last season, which led to a 1-0 win from us, which was unbelievable.
02:04Paris Saint-Germain was by far the better team today, could have scored more than two goals.
02:10But the good thing was that the players of Liverpool today showed fighting spirit, kept going every time when, almost
02:20every time when they had the shot, we had a lot of bodies behind the ball or protecting our box.
02:24Which was necessary because, as I already said, if you don't track back, if you don't run back, these players,
02:32like the ones from City, are able to hurt you a lot.
02:35And so, yeah, last season at Anfield, we played a completely different game after 10 minutes, we could have been
02:42already 2-0 up, but we need to have A, a better performance and B, we definitely need our fans
02:50to help us to create an atmosphere where we can rise to a better level than we did today.
02:58We'll see you next time.
