In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, police in Ayutthaya, Thailand seized a staggering 1.6 tonnes of illegal drugs hidden under a layer of cabbages in a pickup truck.
Authorities discovered large quantities of ketamine and crystal methamphetamine, two highly dangerous narcotics, concealed in an attempt to evade detection. The driver reportedly confessed he was paid 100,000 baht (around $3,000) to transport the drugs.
According to the Bangkok Metropolitan Police Bureau, the suspect has been arrested and could face severe penalties, including up to life imprisonment under Thailand’s strict drug laws.
Thailand remains a key transit hub in Southeast Asia’s drug trade, with authorities intensifying efforts to crack down on smuggling networks.
