00:00A key decision on the future of Birmingham's Druids Heath estate has been pushed back
00:06after a legal challenge overturned an earlier planning approval for a major regeneration scheme.
00:12Birmingham City Council says it still intends to press ahead with the project,
00:16which would reshape the area with thousands of new homes, new community facilities and more green space.
00:22But the plans remain divisive.
00:25Some residents and campaigners are concerned about demolition,
00:28the effects on the existing community and whether local people would still be able to afford to live there.
00:34The council says it now wants more time to engage with residents before the application returns to the planning committee.
00:43In a statement, it said misleading information about the scheme had caused concern
00:47and that extra work would now be carried out to give people clearer information and more chances to ask questions.
00:54The authority insists its wider commitment to regeneration in Druids Heath has not changed,
00:59but because the application will not now return until after local elections in May,
01:05the arguments around one of Birmingham's biggest housing schemes are set to continue for longer.
01:11The council says that process will include more events,
01:14written information and independent planning advice.
01:18Supporters say the estate needs more investment,
01:21while critics argue important questions about affordability and displacement have still not been answered.
