00:00Aaron Boone made a lineup decision today that could signify a philosophical change in the way
00:05he writes out a lineup. Ahmed Rosario is back in the lineup tonight after hitting two home runs
00:09Tuesday night, including the go-ahead three-run blast in the eighth inning to eventually give
00:14the Yankees the win. Since 2025, he has 125 plate appearances against left-handed pitching,
00:20only 77 against righties. He's made 14 starts with the Yankees since being acquired at the
00:25deadline last year, including tonight and the postseason. Only three of them have come against
00:31right-handed pitching. The other two were his last two starts. This isn't any right-handed pitcher
00:37that he'll be facing tonight. This is Luis Severino. Rosario is two for 11 with a homer,
00:42four strikeouts, and no walks against Seve. He clearly doesn't see him very well. In prior years,
00:49Aaron Boone likely would have just put the left-handed hitting Ryan McMahon back in the lineup
00:53at third base, stuck with Caballero at short. Instead, he's giving McMahon his first career
00:59start at shortstop so Rosario can be in tonight's lineup. Nine years into managing the Yankees,
01:05it seems like Aaron Boone is ready to ride the hot hand, go with his gut, and ignore the numbers.
