00:00A leaked report into Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service has described a culture of fear
00:06under previous leadership. The review commissioned more than a year ago after concerns from staff
00:12was not made public. It said some employees took sick leave and there were threats of
00:17grievances. Staff reported inappropriate language, high levels of anger and negative reactions
00:23to challenge. However, many praised their teams and expressed pride in operational work.
00:28Both the former chief and deputy were suspended and have since left. A spokesperson has said
00:35that the report itself reflects perceptions at the time and improvement work is underway
00:40with new leadership now in place.
