00:00We're trying to figure out whether coming to Ander Bohol was a mistake or whether it's the
00:05part of the Philippines everyone else is missing out on. So we're currently just walking through
00:09like the main centre of Ander and there's very few other tourists here. It's certainly a very
00:14local place, it's quite actually busy and like quite a vibrant little town. I mean we've constantly
00:21got scooters passing and trishores and yeah it's quite nice. But currently we haven't seen many
00:28things that are actually like open regarding shops and food, breakfast. So it might be a bit difficult
00:37being in such like a local remote place. Yeah that's certainly not catered for tourists. No.
00:44As you would expect it's like quite a local town there isn't a ton to do here in the town
00:49itself.
00:49There's a couple of cafes, a couple of really local restaurants and stuff but honestly not a lot. But
00:55we do have a few spots that we want to check out today so let's get going to number one.
01:08Well stop one didn't quite go to plan. We were going to go to a really cool place, it's this
01:14cave pool
01:15but you're not allowed to swim there on a Sunday or a Monday and it's a Monday today and the
01:20whole
01:20point of it for us personally was to swim. So we're going to come back tomorrow and we'll show you
01:26it
01:26when we do but for now we're trying to work out what else we can do today because there's not
01:30a
01:30whole lot in this area so I don't know what we're going to do.
01:40So we might have found somewhere else. I don't know, I'm not sure about this. We are kind of in
01:45the middle of
01:46nowhere. It's real sketchy. Yeah. We've seen some people go down a track and apparently there's a
01:53similar cave pool kind of thing but we are going down there. And it looks like we literally have to
02:04climb over like a broken barbed wire fence to get in which I don't like this. It kind of feels
02:09like
02:09trespassing. I don't like this. Oh okay. I reckon let's go down and see what it's like. Okay. We've
02:19got nothing else to do today.
02:30So we have just made it to the entrance of the cave pool, a different cave pool to the earlier
02:35one.
02:35We didn't have to walk far, it was literally just down the hill. We're not the only ones here. No,
02:39there are quite a few people here however they're all local so it's definitely not a touristy spot at
02:43all. No, so maybe we found like a real hidden gem. I don't know. I don't know the name of
02:47it but... No,
02:48but it's a cave pool. Yeah. It's quite small and there's quite a few people in it already so I
02:55don't know whether we'll swim here. It does look like you can actually like fully swim in it though.
03:00Yeah. I don't know. We'll head down and see what it's like. We'll go see what it's like.
03:14This is actually really cool.
03:18The water is such a nice temperature. That is so refreshing.
03:26And it's so clear. Like I can't believe how clear and blue this is. This is actually really cool.
03:38This pool actually gets really deep. It goes even deeper there and I'm already in my waist height.
03:42This is such a cool spot. I'm so glad we came here in the end.
03:51I can't touch the bottom.
04:01So we have just finished at the cave pools and it was like incredible. That was so much fun. I'm
04:07actually kind of glad the other one was shut for swimming today because otherwise I don't think we
04:11would have come here. No. And I feel like it's such like a local secret. We're the only tourists here.
04:17Yeah. It's insane. I don't know where we're actually going next. I think we're going to have
04:21a little check of Google Maps and see what else there is to do in this area because we're a
04:25bit
04:25further out of the town currently.
04:30So we had a little look at Google Maps and unfortunately there wasn't really
04:33anything else to do around that area. A little bit out of the town. So we've come back into the
04:38main town for some lunch. There's literally one place open for lunch. We have pinned three restaurants
04:44on our map. One was supposed to be open today. It's not. One has openly said it's not open until
04:49Wednesday. That's fine. And so we're left with this one. But it's such a cool vibe. There's a dog
04:55literally sleeping on like a swinging bench as you come in and I think that's like the best thing ever.
05:01And I've been decaffeinated the last three days so I'm very excited.
05:06There's so much coffee.
05:11This place is called Hangover Resto Bar and they have so much on the menu. I'd heard that the
05:15Philippines isn't good for vegetarians but actually they've got like a whole vegetarian
05:18section and some of the stuff sound like so good. I'm actually gutted we're only here for a couple of
05:22nights because I can't eat at all. But yeah I'm excited for the food to arrive. We have definitely chosen
05:28the best place to eat here in Ander because not only does the food seem delicious we haven't had it
05:33yet
05:33but they've got parrots literally just next to the restaurant. They look so cool. I kind of want
05:42to hear them talk but they haven't yet. Yeah it's definitely a good place to come if you're planning on
05:46visiting Ander.
05:51Our luncheon was delicious but just a short walk away is this absolutely stunning beach. We're at
05:57Canale Beach which is the main beach here in Ander. It's quite busy. There's a lot of locals here but
06:03again there's not too many tourists. I can barely see any international tourists which is amazing.
06:10I really like it. It's a really nice vibe. They've also got these banners that we can like shelter
06:14enter. I think they're free. No one's come up to charge us yet but it means we've got a bit
06:18of shade
06:18because the sun is really hot now. It's the middle of day but this is stunning. It looks quite shallow
06:24at
06:24first but then I'm assuming it gets a bit deeper after. You can see where the sea changes colour but
06:29yeah this is such a beautiful beach.
06:38Okay so now it's time to see how warm the water is.
06:42That is so nice. It's literally crystal clear and there's nice soft white sand below. So it's not
06:49like the UK where you're just standing on stones and stuff. It's like it feels like you're walking
06:53like a carpet or something and the water is so warm. It's like a perfect temperature.
06:59This is amazing. You do have to pay an environmental fee when you enter. It is 30 Filipino pesos but
07:06that
07:06does give you multiple accesses throughout the day and I think quite a few attractions around here
07:11actually have that but you can just pay it once and then show you your ticket and I think it
07:15should be
07:16enough for the whole day but yeah I think we're definitely going to have to go for a swim because
07:20this water is just insane. I actually cannot believe Bohol looks like this. Bohol isn't known for its beaches
07:26but this is our first beach in the Philippines and it's absolutely stunning. You know white sands,
07:31beautiful blue water, palm trees lining the beach is exactly what you picture when you think of the
07:35Philippines and it's absolutely stunning. You honestly need to go in the water. It is so warm.
07:45Really? Yeah. Like barley warm or like? No like bath warm. No. Go on. Okay.
07:56Oh my goodness that is like warm warm. And the sand is so soft. I can't believe that. In fact
08:07if anything
08:07it might be too warm. It's certainly not one to like cool off in and it's not like a refreshing
08:13dip.
08:14This is so cool. I also love how many people are in the water with like umbrellas. Yes. Just like
08:22so you don't get burnt but you can also enjoy the water. I love that because it is so shallow
08:26like in
08:26this birth but you can just like stick like like a camping chair or something in the water. Such a
08:32good
08:32idea. I love it. I'm jealous. Yeah. I cannot get over how warm this water is. It is insane like
08:48I'm up to like waist deep and normally this would be like the cold part however it's just so nice.
08:55The sun is just starting to dip behind the trees now and the beach has definitely got a lot busier
09:00but
09:01fully with locals as well. So it's really nice just like a really local atmosphere and you can even
09:06see Camiguin Island in the distance and it looks insane. Definitely one we want to visit one day
09:11however not this time but it's so amazing. You're seeing like the contrast between the green trees,
09:17blue water, it is insane. Definitely if you are visiting and you need to come here for a few hours,
09:25relax, enjoy the beautiful sea and go for a little swim because honestly it's probably one of the most
09:30beautiful beaches we have ever been to.
09:41So we've just spent the last few hours relaxing at the beach mostly because there's nothing else to do
09:46but it's just nice to relax and kind of like embrace the laid-back atmosphere. Yeah I think
09:51that's one thing we've learned about the Philippines so far is that island time is a real thing here.
09:57Yeah I think like everything being delayed as well here means that you can't really afford to be
10:03stressed. No you just have to slow down and go with the flow. Yeah but it's about 5pm now and
10:08the sun's
10:09basically already setting, the sky's changing colour. Yeah it's very pretty but um we're not in the best place
10:14for sunset at the moment we're like in the worst place for it probably but it's still really pretty.
10:21Yeah good place for sunrise but yeah I feel like it's definitely been an interesting day embracing
10:30like a different side of Bohol that most people don't get to see. Yeah and actually I kind of love
10:35it here. Yeah me too. I've really enjoyed the slower day and I know it didn't quite go to
10:40plan with the cave pool but it's been really nice. So we've just made it to Kabaganao cave pool which
11:05is just a short drive outside of Ander and it's nine o'clock now and it opened at eight and
11:09it's
11:09already quite busy with people. There's several different groups here and it's basically this
11:14massive cave with apparently water inside that you can jump in. We've just read a sign apparently
11:18the jump is about three and a half meters high and water is about four to six meters deep depending
11:23on
11:23the tide so let's go have a little look. That sounded like someone jumping.
11:37Okay definitely looks more than three and a half meters but the water is so clear when the sun's
11:43reflecting in it it's so cool. That looks scary but also quite cool. I don't know if I want to
11:53jump or not.
11:54So we've just come around the corner and that is actually a ladder to help you get in and out
11:57if
11:58you don't want to jump you don't have to jump in but you can if you want to. There's also
12:02some like
12:02ropes in the water to help you while you're in the water and there's a couple of lifeguards as well
12:06so it's actually really safe. This is possibly one of the safest like water attractions we've been to
12:10in Southeast Asia so far so I'm quite impressed at that.
12:26That's definitely an adrenaline rush.
12:30There was loads of people like in the way so I didn't know when to jump and I was like
12:32I'm just gonna have to go for it and then it's like you go and you're like I don't know
12:36if I can do this
12:36and you kind of just have to push yourself off and then once you've pushed you've kind of committed so
12:41but yeah it's actually really refreshing. The water's plenty deep enough. It's fresh water as well
12:46so it's not salty or anything. It's actually really enjoyable. I might do it a couple more times.
13:17It's actually so cool. We're just in this
13:20heavy. I think we don't want to jump in so I think it's bad.
13:42It does give you an adrenaline rush and a splash.
13:52That's actually higher. I think it is.
14:05So we've just finished at Kabaganao Capell and it was so much fun. I enjoyed that way more than I
14:11expected. It was so fun. It has got, sorry I've got hiccups. It has got really busy now though like
14:19really busy especially considering how quiet and I was yesterday. Today is so busy here.
14:25And also compared to the other Capell it's very different like being able to jump in.
14:30It's a lot bigger so the more people can fit in. It costs 50 Filipino pesos to enter plus
14:3510 for a scooter or 20 for a car to park and then obviously an environmental fee if you haven't
14:42paid
14:42it yet today. Yes. But it's definitely worth it. It was so much fun.
14:54So we're just finished at the cave pool and we thought let's just drive down the road to see
14:58what's at the end of it and we've come to this absolutely stunning beach. This one's called
15:03Talisay Beach and it's insanely beautiful. Like this is what I pictured the Philippines to be like.
15:09It's got like the palm trees right on the edge of the white sand beach with crystal clear
15:14sparkling blue water. There's only a few locals around. It's so quiet and so peaceful. This beach
15:21is insane.
15:26I feel like yesterday I was kind of unsure whether coming all this way to Ander was actually worth it
15:32because it was a very long and painful journey. However today after like seeing just a couple of
15:37beautiful place we've been today I'm starting to reconsider. So yeah I haven't made up my mind
15:43completely yet but this is definitely a good standing point.
16:01Oh my goodness look at the sea that is beautiful it is so clear and like bright turquoise it reminds
16:10we have like grease or something. It's so so beautiful. So we've just come to Batun White Beach
16:17which is a bit further outside of Ander and it's insane again. It's a lot smaller than the other
16:24beaches we've been to but the water here looks a lot deeper as well. The other ones have been very
16:29shallow so I think you can actually swim here which is really nice. We're currently still on like this rock
16:34which you definitely don't want to stand on barefoot but it gives amazing views like overlooking the beach
16:39it's stunning here. It's definitely a locals beach there's a lot of locals here and there's a really
16:44good vibe they're all so friendly but I think I literally think we are the only foreigners here.
16:49We've just finished snorkeling at Batun White Beach and it was incredible. It was so much fun the
16:55fact that you can actually swim here was amazing. Yeah it's like plenty deep enough to like fully like
17:00swim underneath and like there's a few different species of fish as well so that was nice to see
17:05as well. Yeah there's not like a ton of fish here it's not like I wouldn't come here for snorkeling
17:10but it's nice that it is here if that makes sense. Yeah exactly. Today's definitely improved my view of
17:14Ander yesterday I wasn't fully convinced but I definitely am now. I mean I personally really
17:19enjoyed yesterday but today has been like a whole other level yeah it's been insane. But I feel like we're
17:25going to spend the next few hours just relaxing and enjoying the little time we have left in Ander
17:31but it's definitely surprised us. Yeah I have thoroughly enjoyed our time here. I wasn't sure
17:38at first. Based on the terrible journey to get here. Yeah and then just how quiet it was. Yeah
17:45and yeah I just didn't it didn't really feel like there was a ton to do at first but there's
17:49like at
17:50least three different good beaches there's probably more that we've missed. Yeah and if you look hard
17:55enough I'm sure there's loads more other stuff to do. Yeah. So we've definitely enjoyed our time here.
18:00Yes.
