Bonhoeffer isn’t the kind of hero you can caption and move on. This is a young theologian who watches Nazi Germany squeeze the life out of everything decent, and then refuses to cooperate. As the regime undermines the church and millions of Jews are pushed toward genocide, he doesn’t just argue. He gets involved. And once the situation gets truly unbearable, the movie goes there too: a deadly plot aimed at assassinating Hitler. It’s faith under pressure, ethics with consequences, and a lot of quiet, ugly decisions that don’t come with a redemption arc. The tone stays grim and practical, like “what would you do tomorrow, knowing what’s coming tonight?” It’s not a polished comfort film. It’s a moral stress test.
----------

00:03The end of the day
00:04Now comes something to us.
00:05Something unaffected.
00:11The people are always angry.
00:13And some of them are easy for Nationalwein and Paranoia.
00:17We have fought so much so,
00:19that the church and the state
00:21don't influence us.
00:22This applause says,
00:23that they are still here.
00:24I pray for you, my son.
00:26Then pray for them,
00:27and pray for the fall of my fatherland.
00:32We members of the church,
00:34the church of Adolf Hitler,
00:36for the right direction
00:38of the spread and spread
00:39of the Jewish Bible in Germany.
00:43The German church
00:45has to be on God's word alone.
00:49Not on a man's word.
00:51And especially
00:52not on the word of the leader.
00:56The courage is from Netten.
00:58You show them.
01:01The church wants the peace.
01:03Peace.
01:04Oh, they mean it's silent.
01:08You are exactly the right for a time like this.
01:14Can I ask you,
01:15I ask you,
01:16the church for evil.
01:20God forgive us not,
01:21if we do that.
01:22If we don't do that,
01:23we make us also guilty.
01:26Go, go, go!
01:28Schweigen
01:28im Angesicht des Bösen
01:30is selbst böse.
01:39I am ready to accept it.
01:41Do my God.
01:41I am ready to accept my sin from my heart.
01:43In the end,
01:47The end of the day
