00:01This program documents actual homicide investigations.
00:05Criminal charges are often dropped or reduced,
00:07and all suspects shown are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
00:15There's damage to the back of the vehicle.
00:17What do y'all think? That car hit him or something?
00:20A brutal chain reaction is set off.
00:22Most times in front of the truck,
00:24and I just seen that dude get out.
00:26I seen him hold the gun up.
00:28When the worlds of two strangers collide.
00:31Wow.
00:33They just unload into the car.
00:35And he drives away.
00:38But first...
00:39Blood trail goes all the way down to where those taillights are.
00:42Tulsa detectives search for answers in a community.
00:45Who are all these people?
00:47Hospital witnesses.
00:49Where one person's words...
00:50He asked me if I saw who had the phone.
00:52He was having a tough day.
00:54...have deadly consequences.
00:55He stabbed that guy.
00:57If he turned around, he won't go.
01:08For homicide detectives,
01:10their chance of solving a murder is cut in half
01:13if they don't get a lead within the first 48 hours.
01:31Downtown Tulsa.
01:33A group of friends walking under a freeway overpass see a man lying off the sidewalk,
01:39covered in blood,
01:41covered in blood,
01:42and call 9-1-1.
01:48Paramedics arrive,
01:50and find the man...
01:52dead.
02:07Jason, how are you, sir?
02:09I'm all right.
02:09What do we have?
02:11We don't have an idea on the victim yet.
02:13We've been in the late 60s.
02:16These young ladies over here, these juveniles,
02:19were the ones that walked up and found them that they didn't see anything.
02:22Looks like there's going to be a stabbing on the other side.
02:25Yeah.
02:26The victim has a single stab wound to his right forearm.
02:29He probably just slowed blood out.
02:31Blood trail goes all the way down to where those taillights are in the police car
02:37and then jots up right under the underpass right there.
02:42It looked like the knife hit an armory.
02:44Did they find any bloody knives?
02:46No, they didn't.
02:50We've got a blood trail,
02:51and those are all 90-degree blood droplets,
02:55so likely they're probably going to be one person
02:58because they're basically in that line.
03:02The blood trail leads to a homeless encampment 1,000 feet away.
03:07Sometimes you can have dozens of people that are down here in this area.
03:10They're very transient.
03:11They may be in this city today.
03:13They may be in another city next month.
03:16We've had a couple of other homicides over here.
03:20John Brown had a murder up here probably, I don't know, about a year ago.
03:38The crime scene unit found the victim's ID in a bag on the trail.
03:43It's Eddie Gilcrease.
03:46Eddie stays in the second bunk end right there.
03:52And that comes from here.
03:5763-year-old Eddie Gilcrease had been living in the encampment for a few months.
04:08Who are all these people?
04:10Hospital witnesses.
04:12Okay.
04:13Patrol has gathered the residents of the camp that were on the scene.
04:17You guys doing all right, all things considered?
04:19Yes, sir.
04:22I need to get these people downtown.
04:26Good.
04:27All right, ladies and gentlemen, I'm a super nice police officer,
04:30and I'm going to talk to each one of you downtown.
04:32I'll give you something nice to drink.
04:34I'll get you out of there as quick as possible.
04:41Much appreciated.
04:47Seems like these individuals, they're at least willing to cooperate.
04:51Everybody that works in our unit has been working the streets for a long, long time.
04:55Our heart breaks for these individuals that are out here,
04:57because they get victimized just like anybody else.
05:00Actually, more so than anybody else.
05:03There are a lot of crimes where they don't even call us,
05:06because they don't feel like there's any point to it.
05:16Just have a seat right there for me.
05:18Did you need a drink?
05:20Water?
05:21Okay, I'll get you water.
05:22Just sit tight.
05:23Oh, good.
05:28I have a method to this.
05:30You got to get them comfortable, and then we'll start talking.
05:35You got to build that rapport with them a little bit
05:37before they just jump to the trees.
05:40And we've dealt with them down there before,
05:42and they realize that we're pretty nice,
05:44and, you know, we're not out to give them a hard time.
05:51All right, bud.
05:52Yes, sir.
05:56My name's Jason White.
05:59I'd say there's a lot of crazy people around the whole side.
06:02There's good people that live here,
06:04but there are some people that act like knuckleheads.
06:08So, anyway, start off with tonight and tell me what happened.
06:11Okay, uh, I was sitting down there inside the spot
06:16because it was just really freaking hot.
06:18And then that damn, uh, sleepy guy,
06:23he, uh, he's all chasing after that black dude.
06:28He says this afternoon he saw a man known in the camp as Sleepy
06:32chasing the victim.
06:34Okay, so he's, like, chasing after the black guy?
06:36Yeah.
06:37Okay.
06:43Okay.
06:50What did he do when he got there to him?
06:56Did the black guy do anything to provoke this?
07:00No.
07:01When he stabbed that dude, it was right before dark.
07:05You just said, when he stabbed that dude,
07:09did it look like he'd stabbed the guy?
07:12Uh, I'm sorry.
07:14It could be good.
07:15You know, take it off, you slice it straight out from the blood
07:17and from what I saw.
07:20He stabbed that guy and turned around and walked off.
07:23That's what the is.
07:25Did you see him with a knife?
07:28No one, no one did know it.
07:32Within the next 10, 20 minutes, I'm gonna say,
07:37it's just a rough estimate.
07:39He walks back over there.
07:40That's when I asked him if everything's all right.
07:42Mm-hmm.
07:45And he said, I stabbed that dude, that dude.
07:58700 miles away in Mobile, Alabama.
08:04I'm gonna go find a rescue.
08:05What's the location of the emergency?
08:07There's a road.
08:08Right here, somebody shot in the truck.
08:11Do you see any people in the truck?
08:13I don't know.
08:14They got to change the one.
08:15You can't see up outside here.
08:17You see the gunshot holes in the truck.
08:19In the truck, not moving.
08:20But it's just one person in there on the street?
08:22I don't know.
08:23I don't want more to the truck.
08:25I got you.
08:26All right, help is on the way.
08:30First responders arrive in an apartment complex
08:32and find a man in the driver's seat of the truck.
08:35Shot multiple times.
08:37He's rushed to a nearby hospital.
08:40But doctors can't save him.
09:01All right.
09:02What you got?
09:04That's the victim.
09:06Martin Hands.
09:0963-year-old Martin Hands was born in Shirebrook, England,
09:12but moved to the U.S. at an early age.
09:15He served three years in the U.S. Army
09:17before taking a job in aviation
09:20and rode motorcycles in his spare time.
09:23Martin leaves behind his wife of 26 years,
09:26three children,
09:28and five grandchildren.
09:33Man, we got here.
09:34That door was shut.
09:36Yeah, but the window was there.
09:37Yeah.
09:38It's huge thing at the door.
09:40Oh, is there a hole through the door?
09:42Motorstress on the door.
09:47Martin was shot eight times
09:49in the arm, chest, and back.
09:52That's on the passenger side.
09:53The team finds 13 7.62 rifle casings.
10:03The amount of times that he fired that weapon at the victim
10:07was more than excessive.
10:10There's no weapon or anything in the car?
10:12No.
10:13There's damage to the back of the vehicle.
10:18So, this guy...
10:21Responding officers located a witness to the shooting,
10:23who was in the complex.
10:25Hopefully, I have some good information.
10:39I'm Detective Barton.
10:40So, what did you see here?
10:42Oh, down here in these back apartments in my truck.
10:45Just facing out, up towards the front.
10:48Like, I see the truck pulled in already.
10:50So, you saw the truck where it is right now?
10:52Yeah.
10:53Mustang in front of the truck.
10:54Red Mustang.
10:56I seen him hold the gun.
10:57The driver of the Mustang approached the truck with the gun.
11:01That's the whole .
11:03I started hearing him shoot.
11:07How many shots do you think you heard?
11:10Um...
11:10Six to eight shots.
11:13Could you see what he was holding?
11:16Yeah, it was a long barrel.
11:18Guess a big AR.
11:21Describe.
11:21White male, black male?
11:22White male, dreads.
11:23About 5'5".
11:25You can see his dreads clear as they...
11:27I heard him say, he got me up.
11:30And we're coming back in the car.
11:46All right, thanks, bro.
11:53There's damage to the back of the vehicle.
11:56Y'all think that, that car hit him or something?
11:59And probably left the scene if he was following him?
12:01That's right.
12:03Maybe.
12:06What about the video?
12:07The office manager, she said,
12:09ADT is supposed to be on their way here
12:10to try to come get past the pass case.
12:13The manager of the complex
12:14will download their surveillance video
12:16and send it to detectives.
12:19All right, I think we got a pretty good woman here.
12:23Then...
12:27Eight miles away...
12:29Hello, my bell, please.
12:31Yes, ma'am.
12:32Oh, I need the police.
12:33A woman calls 911,
12:35concerned about a family member.
12:37I want to just follow him and threaten him.
12:42And...
12:42he shot him.
12:53In the Tulsa killing of 63-year-old Eddie Gilcrease,
12:57stabbed near an encampment beneath an overpass,
13:00Detective Jason White interviews a resident of the camp
13:03who says he knows the killer.
13:13He said that he stabbed that black dick.
13:16He did, he did.
13:18That's the guy I know it's true.
13:19Didn't mean he told me that .
13:23Was he upset about it?
13:24No, he...
13:27He was just calm, cool, and collected about it.
13:31That's...
13:34Have you seen this individual with any kind of weapons?
13:37Sleepy?
13:39No.
13:40No?
13:41Well, describe him for me from head to toe.
13:44I would say he's Mexican.
13:47What's his hairstyle like?
13:52Shaggy, black, top part up here.
13:57Probably not like that long.
13:59And it just...
14:00It just kind of like a ball going back.
14:04How old would you estimate his age?
14:06Probably around 32.
14:10Sit tight.
14:21I just found this.
14:23Corporal Nathan Schilling finds someone with the nickname Sleepy,
14:27matching the description of the suspect.
14:29Oh, good.
14:30Let me rent some finance.
14:41Let's first get him ID'd is the guy that did it, if he did it.
14:49Would you recognize him if I showed you a picture?
14:52Yes, I would.
14:56That's him?
14:58That is him.
15:00Perfect.
15:02All right, well, sit tight for a quick second.
15:04I think I'm pretty much done with you.
15:06Close, sir.
15:20Let's see here.
15:23This is gonna be our suspect right here.
15:2635-year-old Jack Bossen has previous convictions for assault and battery upon a police officer.
15:33Burglary in the first degree and grand larceny.
15:37As far as where he's from, I really don't know.
15:40He looks like he's probably new to our area.
15:44He's probably scared right now.
15:47Hiding.
15:50Patrol will search the area for Jack.
15:52I gotta talk to her right quick.
15:54While detectives interview the other witnesses.
16:00Very kind to be as patient as you have been.
16:03How long have you been living down there?
16:07Years?
16:08No, no.
16:10I've only been homeless since last July.
16:12Okay.
16:14Tell me what you know about all this stuff that happened tonight.
16:22I didn't know that, you know, there was a little bit of a commotion, but I wasn't real sure about
16:27it.
16:28What was the commotion over? Do you know?
16:30He couldn't find his phone. That's all I know.
16:32And when you say he, are you mean?
16:36Sleepy.
16:36Okay.
16:43That's Sleepy?
16:45Yeah.
16:46Okay.
16:47Do you know his real name?
16:50Did you hear anything that happened?
16:54You said a knife came out?
17:01Yeah.
17:02And who was holding the knife?
17:06Uh...
17:06Well, Sleepy was.
17:10What was he doing with the knife out?
17:13He was having a tough day.
17:16I think sometimes when people get paranoid and...
17:20Well, it's hard to be homeless.
17:22I know. There's no doubt it is.
17:25And it was over a phone.
17:27Yeah. So, I mean, he asked me if I saw who had the phone.
17:31Did you tell him you thought might have had it?
17:35Uh, the guy that he was tussling with.
17:54He was upset about a phone.
17:56And you thought that maybe that this guy had had it.
17:59Uh, well, I mean, I just kind of got the sense that he...
18:02I mean, that he...
18:04Do you know his name?
18:06I don't know.
18:07Okay.
18:15What did the phone look like?
18:17A small one?
18:19Yeah.
18:23Well, you seem like a nice lady.
18:27It's difficult being homeless, I know.
18:30So, hopefully you can get on your feet and you can get out of that situation.
18:35Hi.
18:48It's scary for them to look up underneath there.
18:50And we've had a homicide up there before, not long ago.
18:53They're worried because you never know who might be a predator to them.
18:56We've had a number of murders that have involved the homeless population.
19:00And I can tell you that people have been killed for very, very small things.
19:06For a lot of these individuals, when they live on the streets, their personal belongings, that's all they have.
19:11A phone or an item of property is priceless to them.
19:16You may be dealing also with individuals that suffer from some sort of a mental illness on top of it.
19:26Okay, sir.
19:28Detective John Brown interviews another witness from the encampment.
19:32What can you tell me about tonight?
19:34There was an argument that went on about his phone being stolen.
19:39The guy called him by a nickname.
19:42He had been told that the black gentleman stole his phone.
19:46Yeah.
19:47My friend, the black gentleman, his name's Eddie.
19:51They were there and the argument started.
19:54And he says, hey, where's my phone?
19:56My friend Eddie tells him, I don't have your, I don't know where your phone is.
20:03But the girl says that she saw my friend Eddie.
20:10Pinky is blown up or inflamed by my cooler.
20:14I don't know Eddie that way, sir.
20:16They started arguing.
20:19I don't know, I don't know weapons, but all I saw them do, start like they were gonna fist fight.
20:25Because they both squared up.
20:27The next thing I know, they just burst.
20:31And I see my friend run.
20:33Did neither one of them come back?
20:35No, sir.
20:36Disappeared.
20:37Okay.
20:38So you think they fought, but you didn't see any blood.
20:41You see them like they're buried by his.
20:45Have you heard what happened to Eddie?
20:46No, sir. Not at all.
20:47I'll just see him go.
20:51Eddie's dead.
20:54No, sir.
20:56No.
20:57He died.
20:59No.
21:00No, sir.
21:02Sorry about the loss of your friend, man.
21:05He killed him, sir.
21:06And I'm not no snitch.
21:08That boy killed him.
21:09I believe you.
21:17He killed him.
21:22He killed him.
21:23Hang on for just a second, man.
21:24We'll get you out of here.
21:25Okay?
21:43while detectives interview the remaining witnesses
21:56patrol spots jack bossen back at the crime scene suspect has a knife on him
22:12in the mobile shooting death of 63 year old martin hands
22:16shot 12 times with an assault rifle in his truck a family member of the possible shooter has just
22:22called 911 where is this happening i'm not even sure he came to my house he's at my house
22:42officers respond to the woman's home and detain the family member
22:48so they got him detained yeah
22:51said the guy had dreads
22:57a half hour later
23:03just want to see what you got
23:06we've got him from his house
23:09xavier dixon
23:1119 year old xavier dixon has no prior convictions
23:16he graduated with honors from murphy high school
23:20he lives at that home complex and uh recovering his car

23:32xavier was detained
23:36the mustang will be towed to the crime lab for processing while patrol takes xavier to homicide
23:42and we'll go ahead and we'll head that way and we'll head that way in just a little bit
23:55before speaking to xavier
23:59lieutenant emailed something
24:01oh this is this is the shooting
24:05barton gets surveillance video from apartment complex cameras facing the crime scene
24:12so you see the red mustang pull up
24:16then you see the black truck pull behind the red mustang right there at the front entrance
24:25he got out of the driver's seat i mean it looks like him to me yeah so you can see
24:31uh somebody
24:32holding a rifle kind of greeting him near the front gate
24:45the person hands the driver the rifle
24:55oh my gosh they just unloaded into the car wow
25:17he circles his car
25:22and he drives away
25:25and our victim's already dead or dying
25:35pretty compelling to say the least
25:39at this point i think all we can do is you know sit down with this young man and see
25:43what he's going to tell us you know he may not tell us anything
25:53what's up man can you just roll over in that corner for me
25:57barton and sergeant nick crapaud will interview xavier dixon
26:03xavier
26:05i want to give you an opportunity man to talk to me if you want
26:16i don't know when i'm at this point of the enemy
26:30you can give you an opportunity for me this morning if you want to be a rookie
26:38Cody, Cody Ray, as soon as we got on here, Chris.
26:43You were both turning that left?
26:44Yeah.
26:45OK.
26:45We was turning.
26:47He smashed on brakes.
26:49He says that the truck in front of him stopped suddenly.
26:52He was in front of me and then got behind me.
26:56He's behind you, following you.
26:59He definitely was following the direction I was going in.
27:02Was that pretty much what he was doing the whole time, this black truck?
27:06Yes.
27:06No other cars could even get in because he was closing gaps.
27:11Gotcha.
27:13All right, let me ask you this.
27:14There's damage to his truck and your vehicle.
27:19Can you explain that?
27:21I have prior damage.
27:24I wouldn't know about the back of his vehicle.
27:26So there was no collision or any sort of issue that you guys had?
27:34While you're driving, this man's following you.
27:37Did you call anybody?
27:40I called my residence.
27:42Who was that?
27:43He says he called a family member who was at his apartment in the complex, where the shooting occurred.
27:48I told him, I think I'm getting fought over.
27:52Okay.
27:54Okay.
27:54And I'll just go home.
27:55Okay.
27:57Once you get home, from that point, the video at the apartment complex shows what happens.
28:03Okay.
28:08And so what's going through a person's mind is what's important.
28:12And that's what we need from you here.
28:15And what was going through your head when this shooting happened.
28:22Feel?
28:35In the Tulsa stabbing death of Eddie Gilcrease, detectives have just learned their suspect, Jack Bossett, has been taken into
28:43custody.
28:54I figured he'd be around close.
29:00Let me take a peek at it.
29:15Oh, yeah, there's blood all over it.
29:19That would have hurt really bad.
29:26All right, Jack.
29:27I'm Detective White.
29:28This is Detective Brown over here.
29:33Where are you living at?
29:35The bridge.
29:36It's off the Katy Trail, behind the jail.
29:41Have you taken any drugs or anything?
29:43Or are you just tired?
29:44Just tired.
29:45Me too.
29:47Okay, I want to talk to you tonight, based on what happened out there.
29:54Yeah, tell me what happened tonight.
29:56My cell phone come missing.
29:59That female told me that he had talked about, he took my phone.
30:02And then I told her, I said, what'd you just point him out?
30:04And she finally pointed at him.
30:07Was the guy white or black?
30:08He was black.
30:09Okay.
30:10She pointed at him and then she walked on out.
30:13And I said, what the f*** is he?
30:15He ran for me.
30:16He says that he chased the victim around the encampment.
30:19He knew I was going to pull the knife, you know what I mean?
30:21So he pulled his knife.
30:23And that's when we started going at it with the knife.
30:25You know, he was going to cover him.
30:28When he turned right this way, we were fired.
30:30He came at me again.
30:32And when he came at me this way, I came in that way.
30:35And I kind of cut him right there, right here somewhere.
30:38And he started bleeding.
30:40Where did you cut him?
30:42Cut him on me, that's it.
30:44He walked fast off and he was bleeding.
30:48How bad was he bleeding?
30:50I think it was pretty f***ing young.
30:54Is it possible that maybe he had something else and that it, to you, you thought it was a knife?
30:59Well, it was a f***ing knife.
31:17Did you pull your knife out first?
31:20You just don't tell him who pulled the loose out, you know, because he had one to pull it out,
31:23too.
31:29What did it look like then?
31:32It wasn't like mine, because mine's kind of black.
31:34Okay.
31:34It was just a clear one.
31:36You could see it, you know what I mean?
31:39We didn't find a knife on him.
31:42Do you have any idea where that would be?
31:43Uh, no.
31:46I've got a lot of witnesses of people that live down there.
31:50I mean, they're right there watching this happen, and not one of them saw him with a knife.
31:55Whatever they're going to say about what they say, they didn't see a f***ing thing, because they were sitting up
31:58there the whole f***ing time.
31:59It was us in that circle that had seen that s***.
32:01Who's in a circle that would have seen that?
32:03They call him f***er, they call him Pete, you know what I mean?
32:06f***er the one that was sitting right there.
32:08He says one of the witnesses brought to homicide saw the altercation.
32:12Yeah, I-I talked to f***er.
32:15F***er said he didn't see either one of you with a weapon.
32:20I think you handled this wrong today.
32:24Would you agree with that?
32:26I only pull a knife, but I gotta use it if somebody else is pulling a f***ing knife because it's
32:30self-defense.
32:31You ain't gonna tell me that I'm f***ing wrong for that s***.
32:33And you wanna come and meet that s*** that I handled it wrong?
32:37Huh?
32:37I didn't do nothing.
32:38I did everything right.
32:41That's it.
32:43All right.
32:45Do you know what happened to him?
32:48No, he's walked off.
32:50Yeah, he-he actually died.
32:53What?
32:54Yeah.
32:57How do you feel about that?
32:59I feel pretty f***ing bad because I didn't know-
33:01I mean...
33:03I-I-I cut him, man.
33:04I mean, I may have been in trouble.
33:06And that's being a man about it, for real.
33:07I mean, that's real.
33:08Yeah, I don't-I cut him.
33:09I'm the one that cut him.
33:11We're gonna go ahead and collect the clothes.
33:13Uh, I'm gonna go back here.
33:14I'm gonna try to figure out what we're gonna do with you.
33:17But I do appreciate your cooperation.
33:19All right.
33:19Put your shoes off.
33:21Put one shoe in here.
33:27I believe that he's being truthful about a-a good-many details to this incident.
33:34I don't think that the victim, uh, was the aggressor in any way.
33:41I-I don't have any witnesses that claim that-that he was pulling a knife on him.
33:46There was none of that.
33:47I don't think the suspect meant to kill him.
33:50I don't-I-I-if he wanted to kill him, he could have stabbed him in the chest, in the
33:55neck.
33:56It's still a problem.
33:59Six hours after Eddie Gilcrease was found dead, White closes his case.
34:11Six hours after Eddie Gilcrease was found dead, White closes his case.
34:21I will say this.
34:23I was very, very impressed with the people that were there and their-their willingness to come forward.
34:29Those individuals that live under there, they can be victimized any moment.
34:38They were really upset by what had happened, and they felt that the-the victim did not deserve this.
34:44But I am glad we got the knife.
34:46I'm glad he's off the streets.
34:55As it stands right now, we can't locate anybody to be able to pass along the information that Mr. Gilcrease
35:03is-is-has died.
35:05I've been able to track him back to basically Arizona, and that's where I hit a brick wall.
35:11A lot of homeless people out here are-are certainly estranged from their families, and I think a lot of
35:17these individuals opt to not go at the shelter.
35:19I think that they just become hardened.
35:22They become very, very tough people, and-and they have to because their survival depends upon it.
35:31It's just sad.
35:32It really is.
35:34I don't know what the answer is.
35:35You got encampments everywhere, and we just can't do that.
35:40There's got to be some better way.
35:57In the mobile killing of Martin Hands, detectives are trying to find out why the suspect, Xavier Dixie, opened fire
36:05on the victim.
36:14The man inside the truck, what was he doing, when y'all first pulled up to the complex?
36:21When I walked to the side of the car, when I asked him, like, what are you doing?
36:28What is he saying?
36:29Nothing.
36:30He started moving flames.
36:35I started shooting when he did like that.
36:42So you could see through the window and see him?
36:44Yeah, like, maybe like the elbow is where the window went down to.
36:50Did you ever see a weapon in this vehicle?
36:56I couldn't tell.
37:01Who handed you the gun?
37:03I don't know if I'm not sure.
37:05All we're asking you to do is be truthful and honest.
37:29I'm sorry.
37:29I'm not sure you're not going to answer the question.
37:31I'm sorry.
37:42Where's the gun at?
37:43Can you tell us that?
37:45In the rear car.
37:47In the trunk.
37:50Would you be willing to give us consent
37:52to look in your car and get that weapon?
37:58It turns it.
38:00OK.
38:01All right.
38:12Oh, what's up?
38:14I wish .
38:15That's exactly what it is.
38:26I'm going to call the DA.
38:30The suspect is a Xavier Dixon.
38:34She said he was alone when he did the shooting.
38:38Yeah, that's good.
38:39Yep.
38:41All right.
38:44We're going to go ahead and charge Xavier Dixon
38:47with the murder.
38:50The person that provided the gun, that gave the gun to Xavier,
38:53he's not being charged in this situation.
38:57Doesn't appear that any laws were broken
38:59by him giving Xavier a gun.
39:03The suspect Xavier made a phone call to somebody
39:06that he cared about saying, man, this person's following me.
39:09This kid's already had a plan.
39:12Pulls into the apartment complex, is handed a rifle, walks up to the truck, and shoots into the truck.
39:19Never saw a gun, saw the guy maybe moving.
39:22I mean, but you can't just then turn the gun on a guy in a truck because he was following
39:29you.
39:30He's not justified in what he did to Martin.
39:34He's going to be held accountable for it.
39:40Just four hours after Martin Hans was killed in his truck, Xavier Dixon is charged with his murder.
40:09Something had to have happened that caused the victim to follow Xavier to the apartment complex.
40:16Was this a situation where, you know, there was some type of traffic accident?
40:21Or was this some type of road rage incident where they had words with each other somehow?
40:26There's a number of things he could have done instead of walking up to the man's vehicle.
40:31Could have called 911, which is what he should have done.
40:35It's a tragic situation all the way around.
40:39I think this is a situation where Xavier's emotions got the best of him.
40:44Xavier took things way too far.
40:47It's one thing to be upset about an incident, but he took matters into his own hands, introduced a gun
40:53in this situation, and shot and killed somebody.
41:14I think I cried most of the way here.
41:18Four months after the killing of Martin Hans, his friends and family gather to celebrate his life.
41:25Did you see our shirts that we had made?
41:28This was Martin's favorite thing to do, is to ride with his friends down, start crying down the Mississippi.
41:38He liked the freedom, the, you know, going down these back roads, smelling the trees, the lakes, and enjoying life,
41:47you know.
41:49His bike is the orange Harley, and mine was the blue.
41:54Our plan was to retire in Phoenix, and we were going to take a lot of trips and do small
42:00rides all over the world.
42:03You would never think it would happen, but within a blink of an eye, we lost one of the greatest
42:08man on earth.
42:10He was the most kind-hearted person you could ever meet.
42:13He would just genuinely help you out if you need it.
42:16If you needed $5, he'd give you $20.
42:19He just, he's had a kind soul.
42:21He was gonna turn 64.
42:25For someone to take his life, I just don't understand.
42:32He took away somebody very special.
42:35It's incredible.
42:36gospel,
42:38That's good,
42:42I promise you,
42:42that's cool.
42:44Whatever this is,
42:44I want to see this isn't enough.
