A keynote address by Tan Sri Azam Baki was briefly disrupted when two men stormed into a hall carrying banners during an event at the World Trade Centre (WTC) in Kuala Lumpur.

The incident occurred while the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner was delivering his keynote speech at the Wacana Ilmiah Perdana programme on Tuesday (April 7).

00:23rushed towards the front of the stage, shouting as he moved through the seated crowd. The sudden
00:28commotion caused visible alarm among attendees. However, Azam remained visibly composed throughout
00:34as security personnel quickly moved in to contain the situation.
01:04Meanwhile, a third individual, who was at the back of the room, became disruptive when
01:08he was asked to leave by event organisers.
01:24The protesters wore t-shirts bearing the word Mandiri, a group that identifies itself as an
01:30independent organisation committed to empowering youth in democratic participation and promoting
01:36progressive ideas in Malaysia. The group is understood to be planning a public gathering
01:41on April 25th at Dataran Merdeka, calling for a more thorough investigation into allegations
01:47surrounding Azam's alleged shareholding and claims that a so-called corporate mafia has
01:52undermined the anti-graft agency's reputation.
02:02When met by reporters after the event, Azam declined to comment on the disruption.
