An ex-soldier who got kicked out under less-than-heroic circumstances goes looking for the one person who helped ruin the plot of his childhood. His estranged father left him and his mother behind, and now he wants answers. Naturally, the big emotional closure comes with a twist: he’s chasing a real-world dream instead of a heartfelt speech. He wants to become a professional motorcycle racer. And because dreams don’t come with training wheels, he teams up with a love interest and a motorcycle shop owner who can fix both bikes and confidence. The movie has a rough-and-ready “deal with your past at 70 mph” energy. It’s not exactly a masterpiece, and the ratings reflect that. Still, if you like your character drama with engine noise and low-budget grit, this one might hit the right nerve.

Ein unehrenhaft entlassener Ex-Soldat hat eine Mission, die nicht nach Vorschrift läuft. Er sucht seinen Vater, der ihn und seine Mutter damals einfach stehen ließ. Und weil Wunden bekanntlich auch mit Tempo heilen, geht es dabei nicht nur um Versöhnung, sondern um einen ziemlich konkreten Plan: endlich professionell Motorrad fahren. Klar, das klappt nicht einfach per Willenskraft. Da braucht es Hilfe von einer neuen Liebe und dem Chef einer Motorradwerkstatt, der mehr über Rennen weiß als über Gefühle. Das Ganze ist eher „Funktionsdrama mit Motorengeräuschen“ als High-Concept. IMDB findet’s nur so mittel, Rotten Tomatoes auch, aber vielleicht gerade deshalb macht der Film Spaß: Er rennt, er brüllt, und er versucht dabei, seine eigenen Geister auf zwei Rädern einzuholen.
