00:00Previously on Project Runway.
00:02Top five.
00:03You'll be making a look for women and men who struggle with eczema.
00:08It should be comfortable on their skin and it needs to produce a jaw-dropping reveal.
00:13This is going to be bananas.
00:15Everybody here has won a challenge.
00:18I haven't won.
00:19I've been this close.
00:20I'm like, this is my challenge.
00:21I don't know about the silver.
00:23It's a bit effeminate.
00:24I really like the design.
00:27I'm Tonio and Vijay.
00:28You made our two favorite looks on the runway.
00:32Tonio, congratulations.
00:34You're the winner.
00:34You had our favorite look this week.
00:37I finally win.
00:39I think you being in the top is ludicrous.
00:43You didn't even have a reveal at all.
00:45What the f***?
00:46Polania, Jesus, both of your looks failed as a reveal.
00:50And even worse, you failed your client.
00:53You're both out.
00:56Whoa.
00:57Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
00:59What the f***?
01:02A stake for the winner is $200,000, a spread in Elle magazine, and a life-changing mentorship
01:10with the CFDA.
01:11This is Project Runway.
01:24Tonight, you're both out.
01:27I'm in shock.
01:29Me and Jesus, we're the two that got two wins.
01:33This is out of control.
01:36I'm literally in lots of words.
01:39I've performed so well in this competition.
01:41I think I also delivered something nice on the runway, and I had a reveal.
01:46So I'm so confused as of why Vijay is not sitting in my spot right now.
01:50I'm sorry.
01:52I'm sorry.
01:58But that is until someone convinced us otherwise.
02:11I think you're both really talented and worked really hard.
02:15I know you did, right?
02:16I convinced the judges that you both should stay.
02:27Oh, baby.
02:31I'm not going home.
02:33Ah!
02:34Yes!
02:35If it wasn't for Christian, you both would be getting my afidazine today.
02:39I don't think we should get rid of either of them.
02:42Really?
02:42They both won challenges.
02:43They're both talented.
02:45And then only three to the finale.
02:47I think it's a great idea.
02:55I'm so excited that my dream is still alive, and I have never been more motivated to make
03:01it to the finale than I am right now.
03:02Good luck.
03:03Thank you so much.
03:04Good luck.
03:05This is great.
03:08Oh, my God.
03:13I don't know.
03:15Bitch, I'm also in.
03:25Christian said that he wants to see both of us in because we've made great work.
03:30So we're both safe.
03:32Are you kidding me?
03:33I want Jesus to go home.
03:35Christian, what are you doing?
03:38Shut up.
03:39The bitch is back, and I'm not going home.
03:42It's on.
03:43Oh, God.
03:49Tots, Tots, Mama.
03:51Wow.
03:53Hello, designers.
03:54Hi, Heidi.
03:56The final five.
03:58I feel like I've set that before.
04:01Deja Vu.
04:02It's top five.
04:03We're all still here.
04:04I'm coming up a win.
04:05Wow.
04:07Let me take a deep breath.
04:10This feeling is good.
04:12I am more confident as a solo designer than I've ever been, and the finish line is really,
04:18really, really close.
04:19There's five of you, but unfortunately, only three of you will make it to the big finale.
04:26This is the most important challenge of this competition.
04:30This is the challenge before the finale, and knowing the two of us are going home, I can't
04:36mess this up.
04:37I just can't.
04:38Because this challenge determines who is going to the finale, we have to do something very,
04:44very special.
04:45Take a look.
04:47Roll the clip.
04:49Oh, hi, Heidi.
04:50Oh, my God.
04:52And hello, designers.
04:54It's Oz's most popular witches.
04:55Wow.
04:56Ah, Cynthia.
04:58Ariana.
04:59We here, this season of Project Runway has more twists and turns than the yellow brick
05:03road.
05:03And we're certain the experience has changed you for good.
05:06We wish we could be there in person, but you are in amazing and talented hands.
05:10We're pleased to welcome to the runway the most swankified man in Oz.
05:13Oscar-winning costume designer of Wicked.
05:15And the upcoming Wicked for good, Paul Teswell.
05:18Good luck, designers.
05:19Wow.
05:20Wow.
05:26It's such an honor to have you here.
05:29It's so great to be here.
05:30Oh, thank you, thank you.
05:32Paul Teswell is the first African-American man to win an Oscar for Best Costume Design.
05:39On top of, like, all his other accolades, because he's been really running these costume design
05:44Broadway streets since the 90s.
05:46So, you know, just in the presence of an icon, no big deal.
05:49You will be creating an avant-garde look based on the themes of the upcoming movie, Wicked for Good.
05:58To help inspire you, you are getting a sneak peek.
06:02Stop.
06:03Stop.
06:04Stop.
06:04Stop.
06:07Stop.
06:08You're the only friend I ever had.
06:10Because I knew you.
06:13But there's no going back.
06:19They're coming for you.
06:25Think of what we could do.
06:27Together.
06:34Wow.
06:37I can relate to this so much
06:39because Antonio and I have such a strong brotherhood.
06:43And Linda and Elphaba have such a strong sisterhood.
06:46So I'm like, wow, this is such a beautiful challenge
06:49for Antonio and I.
06:50Wicked focuses on the power of friendship,
06:54marginalization of people that are different,
06:56and also self-empowerment.
06:58So it's on you, hopefully, to take that inspiration
07:02and create it in your own way
07:04and reimagine the idea of Oz.
07:07And what if I told you
07:09you might have not only one day,
07:12but you know, two days!
07:17Oh, my God.
07:18Finally!
07:19Girl, I'm about to cry.
07:21A lot of emotions.
07:22I got saved.
07:23Paul Taswell.
07:24Wicked.
07:25Avant-garde.
07:26Damn it.
07:28Paul and Christian will meet you guys in the workroom
07:30where there will be some other surprises.
07:32So enjoy.
07:33Good luck to all of you.
07:40Oh, my God!
07:43Hi, designers.
07:44So fragile, so expensive, so designer.
07:47Is this for Rio?
07:49So not only did you get a special look at the film,
07:53you also get this fabulous special look at the costumes
07:55from the film, which is incredible.
07:57And you're going to get to talk directly
07:59with the man who made it all come to life.
08:01What you see before you is Elphaba and Glinda.
08:05For Elphaba, I leaned into all that was organic.
08:09I was influenced by mycelia, bark,
08:12the underside of mushrooms.
08:14Speechless.
08:15With Glinda, it's all that is artificial,
08:18all that is sparkly and beautiful.
08:21I then wanted to really establish that idea
08:24of the iridescent bubble, swirls,
08:27and those things that are whimsical.
08:29And pink and green define what the world of Wicked is.
08:32Think about this idea,
08:33taking the inspiration of Wicked for good,
08:35but still avant-garde in whatever that means to you
08:38and your brand and your work.
08:39Still needs to be fashion.
08:40It's still a runway.
08:42Push it really hard.
08:44You guys go sketch and we'll come around.
08:46Ah!
08:49This is my challenge.
08:51I'm good at avant-garde.
08:53Good luck to the designers.
08:55Good luck.
08:56Hi, I'm Glinda.
08:58Obviously.
08:59I'm thinking about doing a head-to-toe
09:02pink beaded bodysuit with gloves
09:04and do a beautiful cape of our gants out.
09:08Amazing.
09:09Well, make sure that you're also thinking about avant-garde,
09:11like something you've never seen before.
09:13Yeah, because like a pink bodysuit is fabulous,
09:15but like Jennifer Lopez literally wears that
09:17every single night.
09:17And a flower cape, Valentino's made for like 20 years.
09:21So push it more.
09:22I'm not worried at all.
09:24I hope my win last week can carry me
09:26through this challenge and into the finale.
09:29My biggest competition is my brother,
09:30and I feel like I finally catch up to him.
09:34The judges really are going to see
09:35what Antonio Stroud is capable of.
09:38I wanted to tap more into the nature side,
09:40so I thought about a beautiful tree.
09:42Nature has no linear lines, so.
09:44Absolutely.
09:45But remember, you know, still want that fashion moment.
09:48I'm trying to use the design style
09:51that I discovered for myself,
09:53sophisticated streetwear,
09:54and push it to avant-garde.
09:57The pressure is turned up to 5,000,
10:01and I really, really, really want to make it to the finale,
10:04so I'm determined to deliver.
10:07Wicked For Good is a movie about friendship being torn apart,
10:11and I kind of want to create the fabric
10:13that's kind of like peeling off or being torn apart.
10:17I really want it to be crazy, but in a good way.
10:20I mean, what I'm seeing is really exciting.
10:22Huge fan of texture.
10:23Also, like, your work is, you know, very quiet sometimes.
10:26I think this has to be the fantasy.
10:28Yes.
10:29Right?
10:29I really agree with Krishan.
10:31My work, it's very quiet
10:33because I think that there is beauty in simplicity,
10:37but avant-garde should not be quiet.
10:41I love to play with restraint.
10:43A lot of Elphaba's journey,
10:45and she's restraining herself because of her skin.
10:49Growing up, I was a little queer kid,
10:52and I didn't know really how to express myself,
10:54and so when I saw Wicked,
10:56it did help me, like, feel comfortable on my own skin,
10:58and, yeah, it really means a lot to me.
11:00Oh, I'm obsessed.
11:02And so I want to play with this beautiful crystal overlay
11:08off the shoulders,
11:09just it's flowing down into just beautiful fabric.
11:12You did do the first challenge
11:15where you had a glove through your giant wind cape,
11:19and that standing still might not be enough.
11:22This needs to be incredible,
11:25which you, above all people, can do.
11:29Avant-garde is my bread and butter.
11:31I think that I could do a hybrid of what I've done before,
11:34but these decisions are the ones
11:36that are going to push me into the finale,
11:37so I've got to make the right decisions.
11:39It's a lot of pressure.
11:42I have a really strong connection with Elphaba.
11:45I want to create this really amazing
11:48avant-garde coat dress
11:50with really huge hips.
11:53I don't know if avant-garde is in Jesus' wheelhouse
11:56because he makes a lot of beautiful dresses,
11:59but a beautiful dress is not avant-garde.
12:01Then I want to mold the collar
12:03into around the neck and into a hat.
12:07I mean, the silhouette of the dress
12:08is something that we've seen before.
12:10It's literally exactly the same.
12:13I don't know what he's thinking.
12:14This challenge might be Jesus' downfall.
12:17I got this.
12:23And we're back.
12:24This is probably the most important shop of the season.
12:26Five of you left.
12:27Two of you go home on this challenge.
12:29Fabric is so important.
12:3030 minutes, $1,000 to shop.
12:33I love money,
12:34and I love spending other people's money.
12:36Ready, go.
12:37On your broomsticks.
12:44I have been eyeing this crystal fabric,
12:47and I find this beautiful green satin.
12:52My original plan was in silver
12:53because of Glinda's shoes,
12:55but that crystal fabric is more of a green tone.
12:58So, like, green is just a natural choice.
13:01BJ, all this red is for you.
13:04A lot of your budgets go into this one fabric.
13:06Setting myself apart from other designers
13:08is a strategy that I've used for the entire competition
13:12because you need to have a unique point of view.
13:15All gonna be red.
13:17Yes.
13:17The whole thing.
13:18Yes.
13:18Very powerful.
13:19It's a risk to use red
13:21because I know that this is not the usual colors
13:24that you can associate with a movie,
13:26but no risk, no reward.
13:28Can you see your sketch, BJ?
13:30No.
13:31I don't know yet what I'm making.
13:33I just want to see what you sketched.
13:34I don't know yet what I'm making.
13:36You don't have to show him.
13:37I like that she doesn't show anybody.
13:39No.
13:39Like, you can't get it at her.
13:40She's trying to win.
13:42I like it.
13:43All right, designers, one minute left.
13:45Ah, anxiety.
13:47What color are you using?
13:49Green.
13:50Oh, my God.
13:51You and Ethan are both using green.
13:53So it's a battle between who has the best green look.
13:57Bitch, I'm not worried.
13:59He was not supposed to do green.
14:00He was supposed to do silver.
14:02I'm his biggest threat.
14:06Can you see what's inside of that?
14:08Bitch, you never want to show me your sketch.
14:10You want to see my fabric?
14:12BJ is a silent killer.
14:13I'll see it later.
14:14She never wants to show anybody her sketch.
14:16When you show me your sketch, I'll show you my fabric.
14:19I'm not showing you my sketch.
14:20Game is on, BJ.
14:28Make some magic happen.
14:34You guys really bought expensive fabrics.
14:36How much is it a yard?
14:38This is $750 a yard.
14:40Wow.
14:41Jesus said you copied his color.
14:46Get it straight, bitch.
14:47I don't want you to, like, start tea.
14:49But I never said that he was copying me.
14:51Don't put words in my mouth.
14:52You just accused me of saying that he copied me, and I didn't say that.
14:56Let me just clear the air.
14:57I want to clear it because you're starting tea.
14:59I'm just, like, asking why both of you are using green.
15:02You're initially going for silver.
15:05No, the original plan was that Ethan was going to use silver.
15:07I was going to do the green, and Antonio was going to do pink.
15:11Okay.
15:11Because we're hoping that we're on the top three, period.
15:14Whoa.
15:15Whoa.
15:16Damn.
15:17What?
15:17Bitch.
15:19But I never said that he was copying me.
15:21Don't put words in my mouth.
15:23He said that you change it to green.
15:25Actually, my original thought was green.
15:28But then I thought, oh, what if I switch it to silver for the shoes?
15:32I'm not copying nobody.
15:33I'm just doing the correct branding.
15:35No one here owns green.
15:37She's got to go home.
15:38I'm just doing the wrong thing.
15:40I know, it's like when I'm, this is like the moment that I'm like, bleh, chiton.
15:44Jesus is fuming.
15:46I can already feel his heat coming down from his pores.
15:49I have my popcorn ready.
15:51Y'all are spicy.
15:53This is just getting me more fuel to send you home.
15:58Jesus can go from zero to 200%.
16:02And I am the opposite.
16:04I'm not taking it in a very personal level.
16:06But I think Jesus cannot do that.
16:08So there is going to be chaos and war.
16:12The sea witch bitch was home.
16:13It's like, I'm done with it.
16:15I don't want that.
16:16She really is a shit starter.
16:18She's a shit starter.
16:20I don't hear shit.
16:20I don't know shit.
16:21Nope.
16:22It's very serious.
16:23And I don't like it.
16:24You don't f*** with the Gemini.
16:26Oh my f***, God.
16:29I've gotten nowhere with my garment.
16:31I don't have time for this, y'all.
16:35I'm going to change mine into a gown.
16:37The fabric is too beautiful not to do a gown.
16:41I have a question with both of you.
16:42Like, this is like a random question.
16:45Uh-oh.
16:46For example, just let's say, of course, ideally, both of you want to be in the finale.
16:51But let's say there's only one.
16:53Have you guys talked about who do you think deserve it more?
16:59This is just like an honest.
17:00I think Antonia started in the bottom and then you started in the top.
17:04And then during the entire competition, it's kind of like, he's on the top, on the top, on the top.
17:10And then like...
17:10Rich, what are you talking about?
17:13Honey, I'm just going up.
17:14I'm not saying you're going down.
17:15No, listen to me.
17:16I'm just going up.
17:19Security!
17:21Security!
17:22We need security on set.
17:24You never know.
17:25Like, last challenge, it was just shock to me that I was in the bottom.
17:29And then you should have gone home, period.
17:34I mean, I like my look.
17:36When I ask questions, I'm just trying to know you and to get to know you.
17:40But I get in trouble sometimes because I'm always very honest.
17:43And sometimes I lose friends because of that.
17:47It might come across offensive.
17:49You missed the challenge, honey.
17:51Why did I miss it?
17:52Because there was no reveal.
17:53There was a reveal?
17:54The Christmas sweater?
17:56I'd rather wear a Christmas sweater rather than dancing with the stars that looks like a magician.
18:02My coat was stronger than all your three pieces if you really want to go there.
18:07Wow.
18:09My God, this week is to take my ass off.
18:13You're a fiesty bitch.
18:15Oh my God.
18:15Starting trouble.
18:17She's not going to with me.
18:19Because it's very loud.
18:25I'm not really trying to create drama.
18:31She looks at me and I'm like, bye.
18:36More comment.
18:38Jesus and I fight a lot.
18:40But for me, it's coming from competition.
18:44You put two competitive people in one group.
18:48So what would you expect?
18:49You know, we're not going to hug each other.
18:51We're going to stop each other because we want to win and it's normal.
18:54She said, I'm not starting to start drama.
18:56I'm like, yeah, but you did.
18:57She is drama.
18:59You don't have a DNA, honey.
19:00All your looks look from different designers.
19:03VG has always seen us as frenemies, but she's pushed me way too far.
19:08I don't know if it's her strategy to make it to the top because I truly have no idea why
19:15she's
19:15still in this competition.
19:16If you really want me to go there.
19:18Ready, set, go.
19:19Hi, everybody.
19:20Hi, Christian.
19:22There's not that much done.
19:26I was going to do a jumpsuit.
19:28I kind of had a nightmare that J-Lo sent me home, so I changed my mind.
19:32I'm not doing a cave.
19:34It's almost like a shawl, but I want to make it big and I want to make my own flowers.
19:38Big, it has to be huge.
19:39Focus on this wow moment piece.
19:42You need a flower cocoon.
19:44Flower cocoon bubble.
19:46Let me write that down.
19:47How do you spell cocoon?
19:48Cocoon.
19:50I don't know.
19:53C-A-C-O-O-N?
19:58This is one of Alphaba's friends from the forest.
20:01Tree creature.
20:02Yes.
20:03This is really cool.
20:05It was really hard to find texture and the right color of trees and moss.
20:08I don't think you should go too costume-esque, like a tree.
20:15What's going to make you stand out?
20:17Knowing that I could have gone home in the last challenge is shaking my confidence.
20:21I'm worried about my look not standing out in the room full of glitter, sparkle, and 3D definition.
20:30I'm concerned.
20:33Who is she?
20:34Lady Godiva.
20:36So you're sticking with your plan, like you're not going to see the body at all.
20:39Yeah.
20:39Like you're covering her up in green.
20:41Even if it was just a small amount into a V or something.
20:45You know, I could plunge this down and really get it close to the body.
20:50I think so.
20:50I don't want them to be like, this just isn't enough.
20:54Throughout this competition, I have had to tone it down because, you know, my sentiments
20:59for fashion is really loud and bananas.
21:02But this challenge is my opportunity to really turn what I'm good at up to 100.
21:08This is that one challenge you could push it even just a little bit more.
21:12Okay.
21:14I don't want it to kind of look like what I did for Unconventional, you know, the gown.
21:18I want to make her a little more sexy.
21:20I think you can do all this.
21:22Or just let me.
21:23I know, but that's a lot of work.
21:25I can handle it.
21:26I need to send her home.
21:28You really?
21:28I guess, what did you just say?
21:30BJ just killed the vibe not too long ago.
21:34She, she's one of those.
21:35I am sad because there's a lot of assumptions that I'm steering the pot.
21:40One of the things that I learned in this competition is that you got to be very careful because
21:44people just really create drama out of nothing.
21:48BJ, the room is very frazzled about you today.
21:51I know, I really don't know why.
21:54It just feels so weird because they, they thought that I should, that I should got eliminated last challenge.
22:01I don't know.
22:03Alphaba is a person that kind of like being rejected for who she is.
22:07And, you know, it's like, yeah, it's like, you know, it's like I felt rejection so many times.
22:13And it's not that easy.
22:13It's kind of like, I kind of relate to that character as a trans woman being rejected, being said no
22:20a lot of times about her.
22:22It's like, no matter how hard it is.
22:27Understand.
22:27Yeah.
22:28Trust me, I was an out little gay boy when I was on this.
22:31Yeah.
22:31In 2008.
22:32Yeah.
22:33It was rough.
22:34It wasn't fun.
22:35Yeah.
22:35But you're here and there's so many allies in the world and people are going to be so inspired by
22:39you.
22:40There are things about me that people don't understand.
22:43As an immigrant woman, as a trans woman, and as a fierce competitor, but those are the things that I
22:50like about me.
22:51I see my uniqueness as a special power, and I want to channel all of that into this design.
22:58You get to create and show people what you can do, and so be proud of yourself.
23:10Smile on, baby!
23:15A little trepidatious about them being like, it's too similar to the first one.
23:22But it's a totally different, like, headpiece.
23:26Totally different.
23:27Yeah.
23:27There's not a lot of time to pivot, and pivoting last week hurt a lot, but I'm hoping that I'd
23:35kill it.
23:35One stumble could let me fall out of this competition.
23:38Oh, no!
23:40I think I could be in trouble.
23:49Hello, designers!
23:50Oh!
23:51Hello!
23:52Wow, what an honor.
23:54Ah, it's fun!
23:55Oh, my God.
23:56The Oscar winner.
23:57I have never had an opportunity to have my work critiqued by an Oscar winner.
24:03How are you?
24:04It's a pleasure.
24:06So this is, this is it.
24:08Definitely avant-garde, and it would be great to understand direction so that it doesn't feel random.
24:16Okay, I'll do that.
24:17It needs to be intentional.
24:19Yeah.
24:20My worry is that, are they gonna get it?
24:22Are they gonna see Wicked?
24:24The face of your model is open, and how does it relate to the green skin?
24:30I think it could be kind of cool if all of her face was covered, too.
24:33Well, that's what I was wondering as well, and I think that it would also push the avant-garde.
24:37It's a good idea.
24:38Yeah.
24:38I'm excited to see that.
24:41Antonio.
24:42Hello, Your Majesty.
24:48Tell me about your design.
24:49So, originally, when we spoke, I wanted to do a cat suit.
24:53I remember Chris was like, oh, J-Lo's done that.
24:55And I'm like, you know what, I'm gonna do the most beautiful evening gown I've ever made.
25:00And I'm adding the green heart because it's a special place for my alphaba, which is my twin brother.
25:08Okay.
25:09We've seen many evening dresses.
25:12How is this an avant-garde statement?
25:15Because this poppy flower that's on the floor, it's gonna be her flower cocoon.
25:21Kind of like wings.
25:25Pushing your silhouette is the direction that I would suggest.
25:29Really make it something we've never seen before.
25:31I mean, that was fueling almost all of my decisions when I was designing Wicked.
25:35So, how can you take us to that next level?
25:38This is my interpretation of her hat.
25:41Mm-hmm.
25:41Right?
25:42So, I want the point to be dramatic, like avant-garde.
25:44And I wanted to do a 3D heart because, you know, my brother's doing green and I mixed the pink
25:51in it.
25:51The twins, obviously, are helping each other, but they're not helping each other editing the look.
25:59If I'm Jesus, I will tell Antonio right now to get rid of that ugly flower.
26:07It represents the love that she will forever in her life have for Glenda.
26:11Wonderful.
26:12It touches my heart.
26:14There may be strengths in what you have already, but if you focus on that and make that really beautiful,
26:19then you really won't lead to anything else.
26:22Where I'm at in my process is getting the Moss Effect full throttle going.
26:26What I see currently are silhouettes that in and themselves are interesting.
26:33It's how do you keep all of it talking to each other.
26:37Talking to each other.
26:39Mm.
26:39I like Bolaunias, but it doesn't read avant-garde.
26:43It reads streetwear.
26:44There's a lot at stake because two people are going to go.
26:48So, girl, go big.
26:50Push yourself beyond your comfort zone.
26:52That's what avant-garde is all about.
26:53Everybody, I'm hugely impressed.
26:57So, win or lose, let's rejoicify.
27:00Yeah!
27:01Bye.
27:02Bye.
27:03Oh, I hope it works.
27:04Tomorrow, two of you go home and get to watch me in the finale.
27:18Ah!
27:20Guys, this is it.
27:22I woke up feeling like a wicked bitch.
27:26Ah!
27:27Oh, you look pretty much.
27:29So much better.
27:30I like this more.
27:32Hi, everybody.
27:33Hi, Christian.
27:34You have an hour and a half left.
27:36That's it?
27:36Oh, my God.
27:37Uh-huh.
27:38It's a moment.
27:39What if you cut it off just, like, leave this, but cut this off so it can...
27:44It can bellow.
27:44This is making it heavy.
27:46Wow.
27:47She's very Victoria's Secret Angel.
27:50Uh-huh.
27:50All right, models to hair and makeup.
27:53Let's go.
27:55Ah!
27:56Perfect.
27:56Gorgeous.
27:57The lighter shades, so her eyes could pop, maybe, like, from the corner out.
28:01Nude lip and lashes.
28:04You should fix the inside of this garment because that's going to get you home.
28:09Click your heels, but I don't think you want to go there.
28:11How much time do we have left?
28:12Ten minutes.
28:13Oh!
28:16This is it.
28:17Only three out of five are going to the finale.
28:20I want it.
28:21That's it.
28:22Time to head to the runway.
28:23Ah!
28:24Run, run, run!
28:24That's it, baby.
28:26Yeah!
28:30Welcome to the runway, the final five.
28:33Yes!
28:34As you know, in fashion, one day you're in, and the next day you're out.
28:37But tonight, two, unfortunately, will be out.
28:42For this challenge, you had to create an avant-garde look based on the themes from the new film, Wicked
28:48for Good.
28:49And please tell me, what was it like having Paul's input and looking at your designs?
28:53Oh, my God.
28:54It was extremely magical.
28:56He's also right over there.
28:58Hi, Paul.
28:59You're here.
29:01Thank you so much, Paul, for all the guidance that you've given the designers.
29:05Absolutely.
29:05My pleasure.
29:06Let's meet the judges.
29:08CFDA award-winning stylist and image architect, La Roche.
29:12Yes, La.
29:14Editor of Elle magazine, Nina Garcia.
29:18And my friend, supermodel, actress, producer, fashion diva, and Wicked fan, Clara Banks.
29:28Vee Banks herself.
29:31Miss Ty Tyra Banks.
29:33Let's start the show.
29:41I love my love.
29:44She was morphing into the dress, and the dress is morphing into the hat.
29:48It's gorge.
29:49Stunning.
29:50My vision has come to life to perfection.
29:54Such an iconic moment.
29:56Ula gorge.
30:05I've accomplished everything I wanted to accomplish for this look.
30:09She looks so, so elegant and so avant-garde.
30:15It's making me feel so proud of myself.
30:22I'm happy seeing this green goddess walk down the runway.
30:26My look does not have sparkle.
30:28It does not have that much volume.
30:30But it's me.
30:32Definitely me.
30:32And I'm obsessed.
30:33I am hopeful that it's still enough to get me to the finale.
30:42Seeing my look walk on the runway, I feel the spiral detail is so beautiful.
30:49And the movement, it's so powerful.
30:52I mean, the color is so dramatic.
30:55And I'm really, really happy with the outcome of the dress.
31:06This is all so magical.
31:08To be able to see my look just fly down the runway.
31:12It's sparkling under the light.
31:14The lines are gorgeous.
31:15It looks expensive.
31:16It looks unique.
31:17It looks so avant-garde.
31:20And I think that I did myself so proud today.
31:25It looks so good.
31:26Yeah.
31:30This is going to be so hard today.
31:33Oh, my gosh.
31:34Designers, please step onto the runway.
31:39We've scored your designs and we want to talk to all of you.
31:42Jesus, we're going to start with you and your model.
31:46I really wanted to just create something very powerful.
31:49I wanted to do a heart to incorporate the paint of Antonio's fabric.
31:55Because to me, it represents the love that Elphaba has for Glinda.
31:59But for me, it's the love that I have for my twin brother.
32:03Avant-garde means being innovative, being experimental.
32:09And that all came through.
32:12It really is pushing the boundaries.
32:17Well done.
32:18Oh, Jesus.
32:21It's okay to be emotional.
32:23I think it's really, really, really beautiful.
32:26Now, the shoes came off really draggy to me.
32:29But you know what?
32:30This is a runway look.
32:32This is the avant-garde moment when you can be outrageous.
32:36It's going to hit Nina first.
32:37She's going to photograph it.
32:39No, it's going to hit me first because I'm going to get it right off the red carpet.
32:41Oh, you're going to fight?
32:41Oh, no.
32:42We're going to get it now.
32:43Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no.
32:43Yes, baby, we get it first.
32:45I get it first, man.
32:46It depends on your celebrity.
32:48Sorry.
32:48And we know who my celebrity is.
32:50All right.
32:50Ow.
32:51Nina kind of act feisty tonight.
32:53Yes, ma'am.
32:54That's what you say every time I come here.
32:56Whatever.
32:57Jesus.
32:58Kyra.
32:59I don't see two days.
33:00I see two months.
33:01Yes.
33:01I did love the look.
33:03It came out and I was like, wow.
33:05The sparkles, how you place them all.
33:07I don't know.
33:08It just gives it this kind of texture in a way.
33:11It's divine.
33:12Thank you so much.
33:14Okay, Antonio, let's get your model out.
33:17I knew that I was going to do a pink dress inspired by Glenda.
33:21And what really came to my mind is the poppy flower in the movie.
33:25I love the dress.
33:26I think the dress is beautiful.
33:28Does it read to me immediately wicked?
33:31No.
33:31I'm seeing a little bit more Vegas.
33:34The construction on the actual dress is really beautiful.
33:37Let's talk about the back because that's what I'm most troubled with.
33:41That's a disaster.
33:42And it is not defying gravity.
33:46It's bad.
33:47Tell the truth.
33:48Save the devil.
33:49It's, it's, it's, it's a, it's like a bad piΓ±ata.
33:53I know that deep inside, you know, this is catastrophic.
34:00Antonio.
34:01I know that deep inside, you know, this is catastrophic.
34:07The back of the dress looks really unfinished.
34:09I see all your seam works.
34:11It is a bit messy from the back, but I do love the volume.
34:15This brought me back.
34:16I feel like to the beginning.
34:18So even though I was rising to the top, I feel like I'm back to square one.
34:22So I'm shutting down.
34:26Um, I think the dress is beautiful and I actually like the flower.
34:33I want it.
34:34You can have it, Tyra.
34:34Thank you, Antonio.
34:36Hi, Vijay.
34:37Hi, Heidi.
34:38Let's bring out your model.
34:40Wicked for good is about friendship being torn apart.
34:44So I bought red silk and I literally shredded it apart.
34:49And Paul mentioned that one of the most important design elements for Wicked is the spiral.
34:56The deconstruction of wrapping that boning and making it look shredded looks fantastic.
35:03The shoe is spectacular.
35:06Kind of took my breath away.
35:08There was a lot of creativity to it.
35:10I really loved it.
35:11I think it's beautiful.
35:13I think it's avant-garde.
35:14And then the shoe looks clunky.
35:16Does it read wicked to me?
35:18No.
35:19The red totally threw me off.
35:20Had this been in green or black, you could have told the same story.
35:24And it would have made more sense for the movie.
35:28But I do think that you did make something really interesting.
35:32I used to teach branding.
35:33And there are certain things with branding that are non-negotiables.
35:37And one of those is color.
35:38So for me, that's like a big miss.
35:41Like a huge miss.
35:43Thank you, Vijay.
35:44Thank you so much.
35:45Okay, Ethan.
35:46Let's bring out your model.
35:47This could have easily been a $50,000 couture dress and you ruined it with those underwear.
35:55That is one of my biggest pet peeves on the red carpet when it's the wrong underwear.
36:00But it's fab.
36:02I love the addition of the ostrich feathers.
36:05It also is Elphaba with the cape.
36:07And the end of the first movie when Glenda threw that cloak around her and she flew off.
36:12I think you did an incredible job.
36:13It's gorge.
36:14I mean, you definitely took a risk by hiding her face because it could have been like they either hate
36:20it or love it.
36:20I happen to love it.
36:21You know, it's like, ah.
36:24What I like the most about your work is when you play with these opposites, right?
36:29So here is a sense of modesty, but at the same time of sexiness.
36:35I was just blown away.
36:37I think it's very stunning.
36:38This is unique.
36:39This is special.
36:41Thank you, Ethan.
36:42Thank you all so much.
36:44You can leave the runway.
36:45Thank you, baby.
36:45Okay, Polania, let's bring out your avant-garde look.
36:49Paul was explaining his inspiration.
36:52He went to nature to see all the textures and the colors.
36:55And I was inspired deeply because I'm a plant person.
36:59But since this is avant-garde, I had to go a little bit bigger.
37:02I'm so torn here.
37:04I love the gouches.
37:05However, I don't know about that tail.
37:08It's giving me a little crocodile tail.
37:10And it's not even even.
37:12So there's a...
37:13Yeah, that speaks to nature and the unevenness in nature.
37:16It's supposed to be representative of moss.
37:18But does it give you a little crocodile alligator tail?
37:20To me, personally, no, it doesn't.
37:22I love it.
37:23I think there's different levels of avant-garde.
37:25Right.
37:26There's avant-garde couture, and there's avant-garde street fashion.
37:31I think it's absolutely stunning.
37:32My issue is everybody else took a chance.
37:36And I think this was pretty safe.
37:38In your opinion, what you've seen so far?
37:40That's not helping you, babe.
37:43Really?
37:44You don't think this is you?
37:45I think this is you.
37:46I'm uncomfortable putting this on the rack.
37:47I love it.
37:47But this is, to me, this is, like, big.
37:49Well, you're going to have to be uncomfortable a lot in this business.
37:54That's the name of the game.
37:55Fashion is all about the new.
37:58It's safe.
37:59Belania, be quiet.
38:01I have never yelled at a girl like this before.
38:04I was rooted for you.
38:05We were all rooted for you.
38:07God.
38:08Is that serious?
38:09Bitch, it is.
38:10That was iconic.
38:12Now, let me critique you seriously.
38:14I actually agree with Tyra.
38:16Rick Owens is considered to be one of the greatest avant-garde designers of our generation.
38:21And for me, this is what that feels like.
38:23I do think it's avant-garde, and I do think it's really beautiful.
38:26It's the thing of not being able to take the critiques that loses me with you every single time.
38:32Because if I didn't care, I wouldn't say anything.
38:35I always say, like, cuss us out in your head.
38:38Right.
38:39I'm sorry.
38:40I'm not trying to be disrespectful.
38:45If I didn't care, I wouldn't say anything.
38:47I always say, like, cuss us out in your head.
38:50Right.
38:51I'm sorry.
38:52I'm not trying to be disrespectful.
38:54That's okay.
38:56Sorry.
38:57I gave yours a high score.
39:00I knew immediately that it was yours.
39:02I also did see Alphaba.
39:04She looks modern also.
39:06You know, this is now.
39:08Thank you, Belania.
39:10There's five of you, but unfortunately, only three of you will make it to the big finale.
39:17Antonio, should you be in the finale?
39:19Please tell us what two designers do you think should come with you?
39:24I think you should say, I would love to see my brother do a collection.
39:29And I would love to see Ethan do a collection.
39:34I've been so proud of what he's been doing in the competition.
39:37Belania, who would you take with you?
39:41God.
39:43I would go with the two twins.
39:45So you'll send BJ and Ethan home?
39:49Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
39:51No, that's coming from your heart.
39:52I think it's very brave.
39:54Ethan, what about you?
39:57This is tough.
40:01The twins.
40:03Throughout the whole competition, I have volleyed so many ideas and my work has grown so much.
40:10Like they've been just watering the seeds the whole time.
40:13Oh, that's nice.
40:15Hey, Jesus.
40:16I would, of course, like to see my brother be in the finale with me because I am so proud
40:22of what he's done and what he's learned in this competition.
40:24And then Ethan, I saw the growth in him through this competition.
40:29I would love for top four because I think Belania found who she truly is as a designer.
40:35I truly don't know if BJ really knows what her DNA is in the competition.
40:42The strategy is they don't want me to be in the top three because they know that if I'm in
40:47the top three, I have a strong chance of winning this.
40:51So who would you take with you?
40:54I would definitely take Ethan and Belania because I think that these two people are kind and I think that
41:01we need the money more than them.
41:05And I feel...
41:06What makes you think that?
41:07It's hard to say yes to speak.
41:09That is so stupid.
41:10I like to work with people who are kind and humble.
41:14Are you saying that we're not kind and humble?
41:16I can't.
41:17You're the one that started all the drama in this competition, BJ.
41:20If you really want to go there, because you are not the humble person.
41:23You were starting drama between everybody in this competition and you know that.
41:28So don't stand right here and look like you're the innocent girl.
41:32Period.
41:33Between you and your brother, who's the better designer?
41:35I'm not going to answer that long.
41:37Why not?
41:37I'm not going to answer that.
41:38You saw the hearts on the dresses?
41:40It's a competition.
41:41Please don't do that.
41:42I mean, he was always on top and I was on the bottom, so I'm proud of him.
41:45Right.
41:45So you think he's the better designer?
41:46Oh, I mean, yeah.
41:48If you want me to say.
41:49Okay, great.
41:50That's all I'm trying to get to.
41:51It's okay.
41:51He said it.
41:52I have different family values as maybe you should one day, too.
41:55It's fine.
41:57There can only be one winner at the end of the day.
41:59Yeah, the best winner should win.
42:00Yeah, but let's get there.
42:02We have a lot to talk about.
42:04You can leave the runway.
42:05Thank you so much.
42:09Wow.
42:10It got heated in here.
42:12Oop.
42:13That was really wrong for you to say that.
42:14Please don't.
42:15See?
42:16That's what I'm saying.
42:17Please don't.
42:17Kind and humble, right?
42:19We are humble.
42:20Oh, my God.
42:21I don't even want to be in this room with them.
42:24They're attacking me.
42:25Be kind and humble.
42:26Because you're the one with the big mouth.
42:28Let's not talk.
42:28How about that?
42:29Get her out of the room if she's not comfortable.
42:31She's saying that we're not humble?
42:32How am I not humble?
42:33They're attacking me.
42:35Oh, dear God.
42:36I'm not doing this.
42:37I'm going to go.
42:38No.
42:39Nope.
42:39I'm not going to stand there and have them humiliate me.
42:42I didn't come here for that.
42:43No, mama.
42:44Girl, calm down.
42:45Nope.
42:45And stay.
42:46I made my decision.
42:47Girl, you could.
42:49They're not going to humiliate me, especially this bitch.
42:52And catch me if you can.
42:53Touch me.
42:55I'm leaving.
42:55Antonio, relax.
42:56I'm leaving.
42:58He is going to leave, and I know my brother.
43:00Because he's not going to be up there and be humiliated, okay?
43:03And that was really wrong, BJ.
43:05And you know that.
43:07What the law?
43:08You really went there.
43:10How dare you try to put my brother and I against each other?
43:12I'm not going back in.
43:13And BJ is being disrespectful.
43:17I'm not going to stand there with that bitch, BJ,
43:20saying that we're not humble and that we don't need the money.
43:22She doesn't know my financials.
43:24Who the is she?
43:25Oh.
43:26I'm going home.
