00:00Captain Cabello.
00:01Do you have any tour plans happening soon?
00:07Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the most shocking scandals, drama and feuds to
00:13rock worldwide girl groups and bands, as well as their devoted fans.
00:35Put together after their success in the reality show Dream Academy, Cat's Eye gained a reputation as a global girl
00:41group due to having members from several countries.
00:43However, not everyone was on board with that.
00:52In 2025, Cat's Eye went public with receiving racist abuse and death threats.
00:57Lara Raj ended up deleting her ex account due to comments.
01:00While appearing on 2024's pop star Academy, Cat's Eye, there was criticism of the editing that depicted Manol Bannerman in
01:07a bad light for missing training, while others in the group didn't get the same experience.
01:11Bannerman described the treatment as unfair, especially as she's black.
01:15However, in 2026, Cat's Eye announced Bannerman was taking a hiatus, seemingly due to the racist abuse she's received.
01:29Number 19, Sugar Babes.
01:31In the music world, it's not unusual for acts to have members leave and new ones join.
01:37However, Sugar Babes have taken this to the extreme with six members in a trio group.
01:47Siobhan Donaghy was the first to depart, later claiming she left due to being tormented by Keisha Buchanan, who denied
01:53the allegations.
01:54Following Mutia Buena's departure in 2005, Buchanan was forced out in 2009, with a completely different Sugar Babes lineup until
02:02they disbanded in 2011.
02:10The original trio mended bridges and formed a new group named Mutia Keisha Siobhan.
02:16Yet they fought to get the rights back to the Sugar Babes brand.
02:19In 2019, they were successful, eventually releasing the album The Lost Tapes in 2022 under their former Sugar Babes moniker.
02:27You have your moments where your relationships are tested, but I mean, the thing I would say is that it's
02:33kind of been tested now, isn't it? And here we are.
02:35Number 18, Mamamoo.
02:44Formed in 2014, this South Korean group was beginning to carve out their name in K-pop when a PR
02:50disaster struck.
02:51In 2017, Mamamoo was performing a gig in Seoul when they decided to play a video to the audience.
02:58Within it, the quartet featured a clip of them homaging Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars' 2014 hit Uptown Funk.
03:04However, instead of it being a cheery memory for the fans to take home, it became one of discomfort.
03:13The group dressed up like Mars from the music video, including doing blackface.
03:18As outrage spread, the members of Mamamoo released multiple apologies for what they did,
03:23as the clip was removed from the video for the remaining concerts.
03:34Number 17, Tiara.
03:36Not long after forming in 2009, Tiara began to take over South Korea's music scene with a string of hits.
03:43Yet, once 2012 rolled around, the group drastically decreased in popularity.
03:55That year, Tiara was performing in Japan when Ryu Hwa Young suffered an injury, requiring the others to cover.
04:02On social media, the other members seemingly took shots at her for missing performances, leading to accusations that Ryu was
04:09being mistreated.
04:10Days later, Ryu departed Tiara, downplaying that she was tormented.
04:14However, in 2017, she began claiming that she was abused by the other members.
04:20Yet, this led to allegations that Ryu and her sister, Ryu Hwa Young, were the abusive ones,
04:24as the staff leaked texts Hwa Young had sent, which she admitted she wrote.
04:29The group's ex-agency CEO explained the whole story and said the original members were treated unfairly.
04:35His remarks seemingly indicated that Ryu Hwa Young, the supposed victim, was at fault.
04:40Number 16, Danity Kane.
04:43Musicians can be a passionate bunch.
04:45Yet, Danity Kane fans probably wished the group had kept the passion restrained in 2014.
04:58A year after four of the original five reunited, the group was at a recording studio in Los Angeles, California,
05:04when it got heated.
05:05According to Don Richards' account, Aubrey O'Day and Shannon Bex accused her of monopolizing the vocals on their album.
05:11So, they went behind her back to edit tracks, leading to an argument.
05:30This reportedly sparked Richard to punch O'Day on the back of the head.
05:34Days later, DK disbanded again, despite releasing an album the month after.
05:39O'Day and Bex formed the duo Dumb Blonde before making amends with Richard for a third DK reunion in 2018.
05:45We're trying to show that women can do this.
05:48You can have different perspectives, different angles, different understandings of things.
05:52And we may come out of the discussion and totally disagree.
05:55But that's okay, we still can get on the stage.
05:57Number 15, The Cheetah Girls.
06:10Before there was a high school musical franchise, there was 2003's The Cheetah Girls to get that Disney musical fix.
06:16With its success, the film stars formed a girl group with the same name, going on to release two albums
06:21and multiple singles.
06:22However, in 2007, Raven-Simone left the group and didn't return for the third film.
06:28It's kinda rough.
06:30Well, we're still working out the king.
06:32Yeah.
06:32We used to be a foursome.
06:34Then Galleria got into Cambridge.
06:35Which you know is great and amazing.
06:37Especially considering her study habits.
06:39Immediately, there were reports of tension on the set of the sequel, 2006's The Cheetah Girls 2.
06:44Raven-Simone stated that she felt, quote, ostracized from the group during production in Spain.
07:01By 2008, The Cheetah Girls disbanded.
07:04During an Instagram live session in 2020 with Raven-Simone and Keely Williams, the duo put their rift to bed.
07:11While alluding to remaining issues with Adrienne by Lone Houghton.
07:15You gotta talk to Adrienne, dude.
07:17Why do I have to talk to Adrienne?
07:19Cause you're the firecracker!
07:21No, she didn't come to my dad's funeral or call me when he died.
07:24No.
07:25I'm sorry and I'm not trying to be messy, but I'm being for real with you. No.
07:28Number 14, The Dixie Chicks.
07:30Who doesn't know what I'm talking about?
07:35While they later shortened their name to The Chicks, in 2003, the country trio saw their careers collapse.
07:42That year, for their world tour, they performed in London, England.
07:46At one point, the band stated they were ashamed of then U.S. President George Bush and criticized the U
07:51.S. invasion of Iraq.
07:52Why did you say it?
07:55Out of frustration, at that moment on the eve of war, I had a lot of questions that I felt
08:06were unanswered.
08:08Many of The Chicks' supporters in the States turned on them, causing multiple radio stations to ban the trio,
08:14which caused their music to fall down the charts and sponsors to leave.
08:17In the immediate aftermath, The Chicks apologized.
08:21Yet in 2006, they took that back and criticized Bush again.
08:25That same year, the band returned to stardom with Not Ready to Make Nice,
08:29which alluded to their 2003 backlash, helping them win three Grammys.
08:41Number 13, Tattoo.
08:43Will I ever be free? Have I crossed the line?
08:51When Tattoo burst onto the international scene with 2002's All the Things She Said,
08:55the LGBTQIA plus community was delighted to have representation as the duo was showcased as lesbians.
09:02However, it wasn't true.
09:03The gay persona was put together by their then-manager Ivan Shopovalov, leading to accusations of queerbaiting.
09:20Tattoo split in 2011 due to friction between them.
09:23Yet they reunited occasionally, including performing at the 2014 Winter Olympics.
09:28However, shortly after, Lina Katina released a video stating she was done working with Yulia Volkova.
09:34Several months later, the rift was intensified when Volkova made homophobic remarks on a TV show.
09:39In response, Katina reaffirmed her support for the LGBTQIA plus community.
09:44By 2022, the duo had mended the feud by performing together multiple times.
09:57Number 12, En Vogue.
10:04Formed in 1989, En Vogue has enjoyed an award-laden career.
10:09But beyond all the success are the many scandals.
10:12After Maxine Jones and Don Robinson departed, the duo planned to release music together in 2012.
10:18While Robinson dropped out, Jones formed the group En Vogue to the max.
10:23This sparked Cindy Herron and Terry Ellis to sue for rights to the En Vogue name, which the remaining members
10:28won.
10:29However, in 2015, Herron and Ellis were sued by Roughtown Records for $310 million, claiming the group had breached their
10:37contract by signing with Pyramid Records.
10:40The case was settled out of court.
10:42In 2025, further scandal emerged when Robinson released a video confessing that she had been living in her car for
10:48the past three years.
10:50I've lived in a house since I was a child. I lived in an apartment with my parents.
10:53And then as a grown woman, I lived in an apartment on my own. Then I had a house for
10:57a minute.
10:57Lost my house. Then I lived in more apartments.
11:00Why am I, why can't I try living in my car? What's wrong with that?
11:03Yeah.
11:04It's different. It's, it's not the usual thing, but I'm not the usual person.
11:09Number 11, The Runaways.
11:10Hello, Daddy. Hello, Rock Muggets.
11:16Cherry Bomb!
11:18While The Runaways were only around for four years until 1979, they left a lasting impression as a trailblazing all
11:25-female rock band.
11:26In 2015, after the death of the band's manager, Kim Fowley, Jacqueline Fuchs went public with her ordeal.
11:33I never got to talk to him at the end. I did try to kind of say, okay, what happened
11:37that night? Was I always the target?
11:39Did you have another plan that went wrong? You know, was this a sudden thing?
11:45I, so I will never know. But I think he, he definitely knew he had done something wrong and that
11:52he had transgressed a boundary he shouldn't have.
11:54Previously known as Jackie Fox, she was The Runaways' bassist until leaving in 1977.
12:00While partying with the band, Fuchs became intoxicated. Then she was assaulted by Fowley.
12:06Fuchs also claimed other band members such as Joan Jett and Cherie Curry saw the attack.
12:11Carrie Crome supported Fuchs' events, adding that she experienced something similar with Fowley and later sued his estate in 2023.
12:19However, Jett and Curry denied seeing anything.
12:22Fuchs responded that she understood, as the incident was traumatic for everyone.
12:26Once I talked about it, I didn't feel particularly good about having talked about it. I felt like I had
12:32done something very good for other women.
12:34Number 10. The Pussycat Dolls.
12:36It's a tale as old as time. Music group members vying for lead vocals, center stage and solo success.
12:43But in the case of the Pussycat Dolls, none of that was even a possibility for anyone but Nicole Scherzinger.
12:52Rather than being billed as her equals, the other girls often came off as glorified backup dancers.
12:58Scherzinger was usually the only one who sang on their albums, recording both lead and background vocals.
13:12Following a near decade-long hiatus, the group attempted a comeback in 2019.
13:18However, the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, paired with legal disputes between Scherzinger and manager Robin Anton, led to
13:24it being dead on arrival.
13:32Regardless of the situation, these dolls just couldn't seem to stick with each other.
13:43Well, in 2026, PCD is attempting to embark on a comeback as a trio.
13:49Number 9. 3LW.
13:51Girl group feuds have occasionally turned physical, but not a lot of them go down at a KFC.
13:56During a 2002 visit to the restaurant, an altercation broke out between three LW members Naturi Naughton and Keely Williams.
14:03It was a two-piece chicken. She threw chicken in her face. It wasn't just about the chicken, but that
14:08did really happen.
14:09According to Naughton, the bandmates had gotten into an argument, which culminated in Williams throwing a plate of food at
14:14her.
14:15There were some names called, some profanities thrown.
14:24Not long after, Naughton exited the group, although she claims that she was pushed out by their management.
14:35Both ladies have discussed their part in the incident over the years, but a public reconciliation between the two is
14:40yet to be seen.
14:41Meanwhile, Adrienne Bailone, who rounded out the trio, later reunited with Naughton on her talk show, The Real, where she
14:48apologized for her role in the controversy.
14:50There was a lot that went on in that time that now looking back is just like, you were so
14:54young and it was crazy.
14:56Number 8. Little Mix.
14:57Regarded by Forbes as the 2010's answer to the Spice Girls, Little Mix became famous for their feminist anthems and
15:04sassy breakup songs.
15:13However, many of their fans were shocked when a rift formed between the seemingly tight knit quartet.
15:18So whenever people start doing shit like that, welcome to the big league.
15:22In 2020, following the release of their sixth album, Confetti, it was announced that band member Jesse Nelson would be
15:28leaving the group.
15:29Her solo single, Boys, which featured Nicki Minaj, became a source of controversy as the singer faced allegations of blackfishing
15:37and cultural appropriation from her appearance in the music video.
15:45Things took a turn for the worse after Nelson got on an Instagram live session with Minaj, in which the
15:51rapper made disparaging comments about Little Mix member Leigh-Anne Pinnock.
15:54If that's how you felt, why would you keep keying with her and being in the video with her for
15:5810 years?
16:00Now, all of a sudden, she's not in a video with you? You have some negative, evil thing to do
16:05and say?
16:06Number 7. AOA
16:08Several Korean girl groups have been mired in scandal, but few were quite as contentious as AOA.
16:20In July of 2020, former member Mina accused her bandmate Jimin of mistreatment going back years.
16:26The revelations left many in disbelief and shed light on the toxic and brutally competitive culture associated with South Korean
16:33music groups.
16:42In response, Jimin apologized to Mina and later announced that she would be exiting AOA, as well as retiring from
16:49the entertainment business altogether.
16:51It wouldn't be the first time a Korean girl group was at the center of controversy.
16:55Back in 2014, actor Lee Byung-hun accused glam member Da-hee of blackmail, resulting in the group's disbandment the
17:02following year.
17:03Number 6. Girls Aloud
17:05Love Machine said it best.
17:07They're living in two tribes and heading for war.
17:10I'm just a love machine
17:12Feeding my fantasy
17:14British pop group Girls Aloud was often split up into two factions.
17:18Cheryl, Kimberly Walsh and Nicola Roberts on one side, with Nadine Coyle and Sarah Harding on the other.
17:24After the group went on a hiatus in 2009, Cheryl and Coyle embarked on solo careers and soon got involved
17:30in a bitter public feud.
17:32Nadine actually said that we were never friends on the show because I saw that and that's really not true.
17:37Cheryl had also sparked controversy years before, when she was sentenced to 120 hours of community service after being found
17:44guilty of assaulting a nightclub employee.
17:53Thankfully, the ladies of Girls Aloud seem to have outgrown their differences, having patched things up following Harding's untimely passing
18:00in 2021.
18:09Number 5. Fifth Harmony
18:11Despite the hint of teamwork in their name, Fifth Harmony always left something to be desired in the chemistry department.
18:20Formed on the US version of The X Factor in 2012, the quintet soon became one of the best-selling
18:26girl groups of all time.
18:27But as their success grew, there appeared to be some underlying tension between Camila Cabello and the rest of the
18:33band.
18:33This became increasingly evident when Cabello announced half of her heart was in Havana, leaving them as a foursome.
18:43The group seemed to retaliate in a big way, throwing a redwood of shade at Cabello in their 2017 VMA's
18:50performance.
18:53With an indefinite hiatus announced in 2018, it seems time has taken a sledgehammer to this once captivating ensemble.
19:06Number 4. Destiny's Child
19:08We never split up, we just basically replaced two members with one member, and it was basically just in God's
19:18plan.
19:19At the time of their debut, Destiny's Child consisted of four members, Beyonce Knowles, Kelly Rowland, Latoya Luckett, and Latavia
19:26Roberson.
19:27The group rose to success in the late 90s, under the management of Beyonce's father, Matthew.
19:36Early on in their career, Luckett and Roberson were forced out of the group after voicing their dissatisfaction with Matthew's
19:42management.
19:43This led to a highly publicized legal dispute that only made Destiny's Child's star power bigger.
19:49The two ladies were soon replaced by Michelle Williams and Farrah Franklin, the latter of whom also dropped out from
19:55the band, citing the negative publicity and her lack of control.
19:58The remaining members eventually split in 2006, with their respective solo careers already underway.
20:07Number 3. The Supremes
20:10This group's history is so legendary that it inspired a musical and then a movie adaptation.
20:16Birthed by Motown Records, the Supremes were unprecedented in their success and adversity.
20:23Someday we'll be together
20:28While the famous trio originally split lead vocals, Diana Ross was given more and more attention over time.
20:35It started off where after a while the press and a lot of things began to single me out and
20:40push me more forward.
20:42This didn't go over so well with bandmate Florence Ballard, who had mental health issues and became heavily dependent on
20:48alcohol.
20:49I've got the voice! You can't put me in back, you just can't!
20:52You'll be singing back up with me, what's wrong with that?
20:55Shoot, let Dina do all the work for change.
20:58The group's name was eventually changed to Diana Ross and the Supremes, and Ballard was booted from the lineup after
21:04performing Intoxicated.
21:05Even after their fallout, the tension continued in 1986, when founding member Mary Wilson detailed Ross's alleged diva behavior in
21:13her memoir, which she's since denied.
21:16Seems there ain't no mountain high enough to top the Supremes' drama.
21:23Number 2. Spice Girls
21:29Now here's the story from A to Z.
21:31With each Spice Girls personality tying so heavily into the group's appeal, the surprise exit of Ginger Spice, a.k
21:38.a. Jerry Hallowell, was a huge blow.
21:44Hallowell's 1998 departure virtually came out of nowhere, as she was set to join her bandmates on a US tour
21:50at the peak of their popularity.
21:54Pointing to exhaustion and artistic differences, she soon launched a successful solo career.
22:08While Hallowell seemed to be on good terms with her former group members, who released the song Goodbye in her
22:13honor, the move still devastated tons of young millennials.
22:23Thankfully, the Spice Girls' reunions in later years, with Hallowell in tow, saw 4 become 5 once again.
22:38Before we continue, check out this single from Sound Mojo's Adia, Songs from Iran, reimagining Persian melodies as modern rock,
22:46metal, and pop songs.
22:47Check out the full track and album below.
22:50Maybe in another place in time, we'd still be dancing, your hand and mine.
23:08Unlike their divine looks and vocals, our number one group had some seriously unflattering moments.
23:19Paramount among them was TLC rapper Lisa Lopez or Left Eye's tumultuous relationship with footballer Andre Rison.
23:26In 1994, Lopez was charged with first-degree arson after burning down Rison's home, allegedly as a result of their
23:33domestic disputes.
23:34Controversy also extended to TLC as a whole when they filed for bankruptcy in 1995, which they later opened up
23:40about at the 1996 Grammy Awards.
23:43We have been in this business for five years, and we are broke as broke can be.
23:51The trio feuded internally as well, but pushed their beef aside after Left Eye's tragic demise in a 2002 car
23:58accident.
23:58Despite their fiery attitudes and sometimes actions, TLC clearly maintained love and respect for each other to the end.
24:13Are there any shocking girl group and band scandals that we missed in the video? Let us know in the
24:18comments.
24:23I've got to show you a little bit.сь
