A powerful overnight explosion shook Russia’s major Black Sea port city of Novorossiysk after drones reportedly struck the Sheskharis oil terminal, one of the country’s key oil export hubs.

Eyewitness footage shows large fires burning at the terminal’s pier while reports suggest critical control systems at the facility were damaged, potentially disrupting oil shipments. The port plays an important role in Russia’s energy exports and has also become a strategic base for the Black Sea Fleet.

Authorities say drone debris also struck a residential apartment building in the city’s southern district, leaving several people injured as emergency services rushed to the scene.

Ukraine has increasingly targeted oil and military infrastructure deep inside Russia, arguing that energy facilities directly fund Moscow’s war effort.

As the conflict escalates, strikes on strategic infrastructure are becoming more frequent, raising concerns about how far the war could spread.
