00:06Tension on the streets of Tel Aviv, protesters chanting for peace, police moving in with force and a city divided
00:15as war pressures mount.
00:18Hundreds gathered at Habima Square, defying wartime restrictions to demand one thing, an end to the war with Iran.
00:27Organized by peace groups, protesters raised slogans, don't bomb, talk, and called for Prime Minister Netanyahu to step down.
00:37But these protests are happening under pressure. With missile threats ongoing, authorities had restricted gatherings to small numbers.
00:47Even after court intervention, only limited crowds were officially allowed.
00:52Yet hundreds showed up, far beyond permitted numbers. And then the crackdown began.
01:00Police moved in, pushing protesters back, forcibly dispersing the crowd.
01:06Clashes broke out, mounted units deployed, protesters shoved, some knocked to the ground.
01:12At least a dozen people were arrested, including prominent activist Alan Lee Green.
01:20It's very uncomfortable living like this, and it's frightening. And it might cost you your flat or your life.
01:28It's not exactly the same as, like, those, you know, two millions in Gaza in tents.
01:34Not the same, like, the million people in Lebanon or the three millions in Iran.
01:42Across Israel, similar scenes were played out on March 24th also.
01:47From Haifa to Jerusalem, smaller protests echoing the same message.
01:53Protesters carried signs,
01:54We must stop. Bibi will kill us all. A sign of growing dissent inside Israel.
02:02We will not agree to restrict the freedom of demonstrating the freedom of speech.
02:08We are here more than hundreds of people, we will be here thousands of people,
02:12demanding to end the war, to end the war in Iran, to end the war in Lebanon,
02:16to end the war in Gaza, which is still going on, to end the pogroms in the West Bank.
02:20This is our duty and responsibility to show up even in a time of war.
02:26Authorities say restrictions are necessary for public safety,
02:30given ongoing missile threats from Iran and its allies.
02:33But civil rights groups argue freedom of speech cannot be suspended even in times of war.
02:40As the war enters its sixth week, the pressure is no longer just external.
02:45It is now inside Israel itself, a nation under attack and a public increasingly divided,
02:54between security and dissent.
