00:01:30Maybe you could help me find what I'm looking for.
00:01:31Depends on what you seek.
00:01:34I'm trying to find my daughter.
00:01:36Lost to me when she was eight years old.
00:01:40Tell me, where do people live around here?
00:01:43No one lives down here.
00:01:45They live in the hills.
00:01:48Hills.
00:01:48Up there.
00:02:05Good souls walk among us.
00:02:07Good souls, my friends.
00:02:09Repent.
00:02:10Repent.
00:02:32How have you been doing?
00:02:34Hey.
00:02:36Oh, I'm so sorry.
00:02:37I didn't know you were with a client.
00:02:39Oh, it's okay.
00:02:39We're still waiting for her husband to come.
00:02:41We just want to swing by real fast and say thank you.
00:02:43We brought you a gift.
00:02:44Cool.
00:02:44What did you bring me?
00:02:45Assorted cookies.
00:02:47Mark, you know I specialize in addiction.
00:02:48Are you trying to make me relapse?
00:02:49Absolutely not.
00:02:51We just want to say thank you so much for sponsoring the play.
00:02:53The kids hugely appreciate it.
00:02:55Those kids deserve it.
00:02:56They do.
00:02:57So we want to say thank you and that's it.
00:02:59We'll get out of your hair.
00:03:00Thank you very much.
00:03:01Appreciate it.
00:03:02Nice meeting you.
00:03:04When you're doing that, it seems like it's a whole bigger deal.
00:03:06And it's not.
00:03:07It's literally just the exact same thing.
00:03:10A hundred percent.
00:03:11Hey.
00:03:12Hey.
00:03:12How are you?
00:03:13You look good.
00:03:14Likewise.
00:03:14Sorry not to be rude.
00:03:16Of course.
00:03:17Yeah.
00:03:17No, of course.
00:03:18Good to see you.
00:03:18Good to see you.
00:03:20Yeah, that's her husband.
00:03:28Jamie, how are you doing?
00:03:29Come on in.
00:03:36Sorry, I'm late.
00:03:37I got tied up at work.
00:03:39That's okay.
00:03:40Thanks for coming.
00:03:42Can I interest you in a cookie?
00:03:43No, thanks.
00:03:45So before you got here, Nora filled me in a little bit on some of the issues you've been
00:03:49dealing with.
00:03:51Okay.
00:03:54So I guess what I'm saying is it's not easy to admit when you're having problems.
00:04:00It's actually easier to pretend everything's fine.
00:04:05I've been dead for a long time.
00:04:07How do you feel sitting here right now?
00:04:09Right, I guess.
00:04:11Nervous.
00:04:12That's normal.
00:04:14However, even admitting there are problems, I think that what you're wanting to do is really
00:04:20something that shouldn't be taken lightly.
00:04:22Why not?
00:04:22Why not?
00:04:24It's been a long time coming.
00:04:26Can I ask, how long have you two been married?
00:04:2916 years.
00:04:3117.
00:04:3417.
00:04:35We got married when we were really young.
00:04:37That's a long time.
00:04:39It's hard to keep things fresh for that long.
00:04:41David.
00:04:43Do you mean remind me what you do for a living?
00:04:45Depends when you ask him.
00:04:48I'm an entrepreneur.
00:04:50So you own a business?
00:04:53Found a few over the years.
00:04:55None of them really panned out, but about a year ago I bought a restaurant.
00:05:01A bar.
00:05:03It was both, but yeah.
00:05:06Okay, on the phone you said things really came to a head about a year ago.
00:05:11Is that because of the bar?
00:05:13Did you go over your script?
00:05:16Neelan, your audition's today, right?
00:05:18Uh, yeah.
00:05:20Well, aren't you excited?
00:05:23What's a land form?
00:05:25Uh, it's kind of like how the land is formed.
00:05:28I don't know, what is that?
00:05:29So, is Ireland a peninsula, an island, or a continent?
00:05:35We have to do this theme dance thing.
00:05:37You do know that we're Irish.
00:05:39That's why I picked it.
00:05:42So, what is it?
00:05:43I don't know, but we have to go.
00:05:44Alright, I've washed your ballet shoes, I've put them in your backpack, and guys,
00:05:48Dad's picking you up from school today.
00:05:51If something happens with this schedule, I'll be there.
00:05:55Plan B.
00:05:56Always gotta have a plan B.
00:05:58Alright, are we ready?
00:05:59Yep.
00:06:00Yes.
00:06:00Go.
00:06:05See you later.
00:06:07Hey, Doug.
00:06:07Good morning, buddy.
00:06:08How you doing?
00:06:10Good morning.
00:06:11How are we?
00:06:12Good morning.
00:06:12I took the liberty to print out your itinerary.
00:06:15Oh, yes.
00:06:16Auditions today.
00:06:17I love that.
00:06:18Yeah.
00:06:19This is gonna be fun.
00:06:22Alright, everybody.
00:06:24It's the real deal today.
00:06:26Are you all ready?
00:06:28Yeah!
00:06:29Okay.
00:06:30Nice to see you, everybody.
00:06:32Now, listen.
00:06:33This is very important.
00:06:35Own your audition.
00:06:37Okay?
00:06:37This stage is yours.
00:06:40Let's make some art.
00:06:41And understand this.
00:06:42We're on your side.
00:06:43Okay, so we're rooting for you.
00:06:44So relax.
00:06:46Have fun.
00:06:48And let's clear the stage.
00:06:52Alright, our first audition.
00:06:54Sammy.
00:06:56There's more to a woman than her flutter kick.
00:06:59Our kingdom needs a queen.
00:07:01Well done, Sammy.
00:07:03Good job.
00:07:04Very nice.
00:07:07Alright, next up is Taylor.
00:07:13I just need to get out of here and go walk on the same ground he is, breathing the very
00:07:19same air.
00:07:21Only my father would understand.
00:07:25Very good, Taylor.
00:07:27Very good.
00:07:28Good emoting.
00:07:31Uh, Neelan, you're up.
00:07:43Take your time.
00:07:52You got it.
00:07:58Uh, alright, let's, uh, let's take a break, everybody.
00:08:02So just, just five minutes, ten minute break.
00:08:04Take ten minutes.
00:08:05Be right back.
00:08:06Just gonna go check, check on Neelan real quick.
00:08:09Just keep practicing, guys.
00:08:10Okay?
00:08:11Good job.
00:08:12Was it nerves?
00:08:13Is that why he ran off?
00:08:15I think so.
00:08:16He put a lot of pressure on himself to get the lead.
00:08:19How serious is he about acting?
00:08:21Real serious.
00:08:22He says this is what he wants to do.
00:08:25Nora, remind me what you do.
00:08:26I'm a real estate agent.
00:08:28Do you like it?
00:08:29Yeah, I do.
00:08:30It was definitely helpful to have another income when Jamie's business was struggling.
00:08:36Well, which one?
00:08:37And I had enough time to juggle around the kids' schedules, which was necessary.
00:08:44The tile is amazing.
00:08:48Um, no, these aren't really a good fit.
00:08:50This one.
00:08:51You were talking about school?
00:08:53Yes.
00:08:54Yep.
00:08:54This one has an amazing private school.
00:08:56Like, three blocks down, my kids go there.
00:08:58They have an amazing performing arts program as well.
00:09:01And then, I think we've got time to see three today, so...
00:09:04Oh, thank you, Sherry.
00:09:07Thank you, George.
00:09:08I love it here.
00:09:09She's so sweet.
00:09:10So, uh, how long have you actually been selling real estate?
00:09:14About ten years now, actually.
00:09:16I love the flexibility of it.
00:09:17I've got two kids at home, so...
00:09:19So nice.
00:09:20Um, are you married?
00:09:23Um, yes, I am.
00:09:24All right, if we just move on right here.
00:09:27Number one, if you would like to take that one.
00:09:30Uh, number two.
00:09:32And we'll also go see this one.
00:09:34It's a wild card, but why not?
00:09:35We've got time.
00:09:36All right, guys, let's get going.
00:09:38Take our coffees on the road.
00:09:50Hey, welcome in.
00:09:52What can I get started for you?
00:09:54Uh, espresso?
00:09:56All right, do you want a single or a double?
00:09:59Single.
00:10:01All right.
00:10:03Oh.
00:10:07If you, um, have a credit card, I can do tap and go.
00:10:14There you go.
00:10:16Can I get a name for that?
00:10:18Uh, O'Sheen Queen.
00:10:24One more time.
00:10:27O'Sheen Queen.
00:10:30O'Shane?
00:10:44O'Shane?
00:10:46O'Shane?
00:10:49O'Shane.
00:10:49O'Shane.
00:10:50God love ya.
00:10:51All right, that'll be on in just a second.
00:10:56O'Shane.
00:10:57O'Shane.
00:11:03O'Shane.
00:11:07Espresso.
00:11:10And a paper court.
00:11:13Yep.
00:11:15Enjoy.
00:11:31Good afternoon.
00:11:32I saw your head's wonder sign.
00:11:48We'll have an application.
00:11:49And I'll see which one has been mistaken.
00:12:11Woah!
00:12:12Bye.
00:12:15Bye.
00:12:18Bye.
00:12:19Good afternoon.
00:12:19beer list and cocktails are in the back uh do you have guinness yes sir i'll take a point
00:12:29whoa whoa there's something wrong you don't have a proper tulip glass you know the pour
00:12:34of a guinness is just as important as to the taste of the beer it has to be a two
00:12:38-part pour
00:12:39the first to settle and the second to top it off can you teach me
00:12:48first take the glass under the top at a 45 degree angle if you pour straight on
00:12:53the guinness will froth and the taste of the beer will be bruised now you pour the guinness slowly
00:12:59right on the edge fill it up until it reaches the edge of the tulip bulb then we let it
00:13:06set
00:13:09we give it a moment now this is where we're building that beautiful black mass of velvety
00:13:16beer now after that we take it put it under the top and more slowly this time pour directly into
00:13:24the
00:13:25middle this is where we construct that beautiful phone
00:13:32and that's a perfect point below the stout dark ale on top the creamy white foam just above the
00:13:42pint of glass perfect that's the art of beer the art of beer jamie owner here nice to meet you
00:13:58it's this selection that's all you got here something wrong with that well other than
00:14:04guinness it's it's rubbish i mean what light really are you some sort of beer maker brewmaster
00:14:13they've worked for over a dozen breweries in ireland including the guinness family
00:14:20well what would you want to see up there well i'd like to see your bros
00:14:24we'd like to see your creations it's just what we get when we get them you're telling me
00:14:30you don't brew your own ale in your own pub with all this equipment you got back there
00:14:36i literally just bought the place like a month ago i don't know how those things even work
00:14:42do you want to go do you want to go see him hi of course

00:15:01you've you've got everything here yeah i'll tell you what mr jamie i will come here
00:15:12and brew you the finest beer in town then you'll be a real brew pub well we were actually thinking
00:15:18of changing the name to tap house no it's a brewery so keep it brewery
00:15:27yeah i like that what are we talking money wise
00:15:34i need
00:15:37i need two meals a day 45 a week and 10 of every point i brew
00:15:4445 dollars and 10 of every point i brew
00:15:54got yourself a deal you hired him on the spot that's a lot of trust for someone you just met
00:16:02trust me i know it sounds crazy that's one way to put it back then i didn't know what i
00:16:07was doing
00:16:07with the restaurant bar but i don't know it just felt right and i don't know i can't describe it
00:16:17it's like faith sure faith so it sounds like he was gonna make a difference i'd hoped
00:16:27what about at home i was still struggling jamie was gone a lot and this felt like just another pipe
00:16:36dream i just wanted him home more and i hated that it was a bar hey guys how was school
00:16:45hey it was

00:17:37with me
00:17:38i'm gonna do shots no yeah sure take it whatever you want thank you for your help
00:17:44if we take what pastor john said last week and actually apply it we know that forgiveness is
00:17:51required by all believers well that's a tough one sometimes get this the latest on the jamie
00:17:59situation he bought a restaurant what kind of restaurant a restaurant with the room out back
00:18:06with all of these big tanks in there like a brewery a brewery does anybody know how to brew beer
00:18:13no the
00:18:14only thing jamie knows about beer is how to drink it oh grace anything listen forgiveness is hard it's
00:18:22something we should do just like we should eat our fruits and vegetables i don't know about eating them
00:18:28but i'm really good at drinking them to forgiveness come on bring it in forgiveness you don't like
00:18:35forgiveness not necessarily why it just feels like since we're told to forgive somebody can do whatever
00:18:46they want to and not make any changes and then just ask for forgiveness did your kids forgive jamie
00:18:52for not picking them up at school
00:19:02madison you awake baby

00:20:10Allison was out.
00:20:12Think she's getting enough sleep?
00:20:14I'd say so.
00:20:15Hence, she was asleep.
00:20:24They don't have food at your restaurant?
00:20:28I do.
00:20:28I just don't have time to eat it.
00:20:31Well, it is Friday.
00:20:32The usual bar card will be there.
00:20:34You'll be there in the midst of it all.
00:20:37What is that supposed to mean?
00:20:40It's a bar.
00:20:41My husband opens up a bar and I'm supposed to be okay with that?
00:20:45It's a business.
00:20:46Yeah.
00:20:47Like the T-shirt stand or the pretzel shop or the bike repair store.
00:20:52I don't want to stop.
00:20:56Please.
00:20:58I'm sorry.
00:21:01Just, I don't like it.
00:21:04It isn't what I want.
00:21:07I'm in it already.
00:21:08Let me get it up and running and I'll sell it.
00:21:11Okay.
00:21:27You're going to ask me if I was staying over tonight.
00:21:30Well, are you?
00:21:33I'm not waiting up until 3am again.
00:21:36I'm exhausted.
00:21:37Let me help.
00:21:41You are the reason I'm exhausted.
00:21:52Maybe I'll swing over tomorrow and I'll pick the kids up and take them to a movie.
00:21:56Okay.
00:22:01I have to get back to the restaurant.
00:22:08I didn't want to admit it, but my drinking had been getting worse.
00:22:11Why do you think that was?
00:22:18I'm just lying to myself.
00:22:22I always said that everything that I did, all the businesses, was for my family.
00:22:32Selfishly, it was for me.
00:22:35What do you mean?
00:22:39I think I was just trying to prove to myself that I could build something.
00:22:46And that I had value.
00:22:50Every business that failed just proved that I did.
00:22:58And the drinking?
00:23:03Just ask.
00:23:10How's it going, boss?
00:23:11Thanks for coming in.
00:23:12Yeah, good, good, good.
00:23:14Everything good here?
00:23:15Yeah.
00:23:16I don't know what's on my guy.
00:23:19Stop.
00:23:20You want me to do that?
00:23:21You're a little bit.
00:23:22You freak me out.
00:23:23I don't know what the fuck there.
00:23:26I feel it right here.
00:23:28I feel it right here.
00:23:32Awesome.
00:23:34That's good.
00:23:34Do you want another beer?
00:23:35Yeah.
00:23:45Good morning.
00:23:47Good morning.
00:23:47What can I get you?
00:23:48Are you taking espresso?
00:23:50All right.
00:23:53Here you go.
00:23:55What was the name for that?
00:23:57Machine.
00:23:58Machine.
00:24:00I.
00:24:01S.
00:24:01I.
00:24:02N.
00:24:06All right.

00:24:22Oh, Sheen?
00:24:24Ah.
00:24:25Ah.
00:24:27You're a real darling.
00:25:06Hi, Sherry.
00:25:06Hey, how's it going?
00:25:07Good, thank you.
00:25:08Oh, already called me?
00:25:09Thank you so much.
00:25:10Uh, oops.
00:25:12All right, here you go.
00:25:13Have a good day.
00:25:14See you tomorrow.
00:25:52Mr. Jamie.
00:25:55Mr. Jamie.
00:25:56Are you all right?
00:25:59Oh.
00:26:04Who's she?
00:26:06Sheen.
00:26:10You mean that?
00:26:12Yes.
00:26:33Thanks for waking me up.
00:26:36Kitchen door was unlocked.
00:26:38Oh, I must have forgot.
00:26:41Big night?
00:26:43Think so.
00:26:48Do you live here, Mr. Jamie?
00:26:52No.
00:26:52I mean, I stay here a couple days a week, but...
00:26:57Wife's not real big on the new venture.
00:27:03Mr. Jamie, do you believe in God?
00:27:09Yeah, I believe in God.
00:27:11Go to church a couple days a week, actually.
00:27:13You know, God made this.
00:27:16How do these?
00:27:17The hops, the barley, the grapes, the fermentation process.
00:27:27He made it so he couldn't enjoy it?
00:27:30No.
00:27:32He created it.
00:27:33Created it so he could enjoy it.
00:27:36No.
00:27:37Jesus was just a boy.
00:27:39Probably a teenager.
00:27:41Him and his mother went to a wedding.
00:27:43Now, weddings, they're not like they are today.
00:27:46Back then, they were festivals, days long.
00:27:48Anyway, Mary, the mother of Jesus, knew that he was the Son of God.
00:27:54Full of wonder and power.
00:27:57But about halfway through the festival, probably day two,
00:28:02they ran out of wine.
00:28:03The rail stuff.
00:28:05Now, that would be like you in the middle of your party here last night.
00:28:10Now, everyone was disappointed.
00:28:12So Mary, the mother of God, asks him to make wine.
00:28:18Now, imagine that.
00:28:20The first presentation to the world that he is God.
00:28:24Turned in water into wine.
00:28:26So the party can keep going.
00:28:28And you know what he says to her?
00:28:30He says to her,
00:28:31Woman!
00:28:32What does this have to do with me?
00:28:41Do you have children, Mr. Jamie?
00:28:43Ah, yeah.
00:28:45Two.
00:28:46Boy and a girl.
00:28:47Just imagine.
00:28:48Just imagine if they responded like that way to something you asked them.
00:28:54I am very much like that.
00:28:55The point of the story is this.
00:28:58Jesus, God,
00:29:00chose wine
00:29:02as his first miracle.
00:29:06The key to his entire ministry.
00:29:09And he did this first
00:29:10to please his mother,
00:29:12his family.
00:29:13And second,
00:29:15to please everyone else.
00:29:17Family always comes first, Mr. Jamie.
00:29:23Oh, my son actually has a basketball scrimmage this morning.
00:29:27Then you should go.
00:29:28Go, I'll take care of this.
00:29:30Who's going to open up the shop?
00:29:32Well, I'll have your staff open up the shop.
00:29:34Then I'm going to make beer.
00:29:39Sure.
00:29:40See?
00:30:03Go, I'll be there.
00:30:06Go, I'll be there.
00:30:07Go, I'll be there.
00:30:18Can I get everyone together, please?
00:30:20Michael, Ashley, Shannon, Robbie, Lily.
00:30:26We open in 15 minutes.
00:30:29And Mr. Jamie is off for this family,
00:30:31so it's up to us to open, and open in excellence.
00:30:38What's so funny?
00:30:39Excellence in your hands.
00:30:41Of course.
00:30:43Everything we do should be in excellence.
00:30:46Hey, how many of you like your jobs here?
00:30:49Nice.
00:30:49Now, Arthur Guinness once told his employees
00:30:51their only job was to do everything in excellence.
00:30:56Everything.
00:30:57It's an excellence that we show our true character.
00:31:01Let's have a good day.
00:31:15Hey, Lily.
00:31:16Hey, guys.
00:31:16You're probably going to just a second.
00:31:18Why don't you just take a seat?
00:31:19Okay.
00:31:30It was fast.
00:31:32Dad, what'd you get for me?
00:31:34Your favorite.
00:31:36What did we get you?
00:31:37Is it really your favorite?
00:31:39Hey, why don't you go change before we head the door?
00:31:41Yeah.
00:31:42How was ballet today?
00:31:43It was good.
00:31:44Yeah, what did you guys do?
00:31:45Oh, we're working on a team.
00:31:48I got somebody I want you guys to meet.
00:31:50Just hired an Irish guy.
00:31:52Back there working on the brewery.
00:31:53He says he can turn it around.
00:31:54Get things working.
00:31:59Is that an Irish guy?
00:32:01Yeah, I think so.
00:32:08Thank you, Lord.
00:32:10Thank you, Lord.
00:32:17He's not back there.
00:32:19Must have left for the day.
00:32:20What's his name?
00:32:22Ocean, Oysen, I don't know.
00:32:24It's Irish.
00:32:24Older guy?
00:32:25Yeah.
00:32:27You all right?
00:32:30Well, let's get this food in our bellies.
00:32:31Get to the park, shall we?
00:32:42You know, your height's an advantage for you in basketball.
00:32:46Yeah, I agree, it's weird being taller than all the other kids.
00:32:50Well, you know, if you work on your post game, a little power dribble right here, beat
00:32:58up on those kids all day.
00:33:00Check ball.
00:33:03Dad, why do you sleep at the restaurant sometimes?
00:33:07It's a late night crowd, honey.
00:33:09I don't want to come home and disturb you guys.
00:33:11Are you and Mom getting a divorce?
00:33:13No, we're not getting a divorce.
00:33:14Why do you never wear your ring?
00:33:20Daddy's working on getting it fixed, okay?
00:33:23Can you not leave us at school and maybe be around a little more at night?
00:33:31I will.
00:33:32I promise.
00:33:33You know, if we say it, you better mean it.
00:33:37Oh, I mean it.
00:33:37Oh, you're going to do that?
00:33:38Come on.
00:33:42Power dribble.
00:33:44Boom.
00:33:44Right?
00:33:45Try.
00:33:49I don't move like it used to before the kids.
00:33:52We were just kids ourselves back then.
00:33:54You know, I think this is the first time I've gotten out since we opened up the restroom.
00:33:58Since you opened.
00:34:01It's our family's.
00:34:02It's ours.
00:34:02It's not mine.
00:34:04This is just another phase.
00:34:06No, you said yourself it was a good deal.
00:34:08We've got the building for next to nothing.
00:34:09I'll turn it around.
00:34:10Or it'll turn you around.
00:34:12Please.
00:34:19Hey.
00:34:20What's going on?
00:34:21I told you, Jimmy.
00:34:23I don't want to be around all of that.
00:34:31Well, this Irish guy, where did you find him?
00:34:36He didn't.
00:34:37He just showed up.
00:34:39And get this, he only wanted $45 a week.
00:34:42$45?
00:34:43Yeah.
00:34:45Odd.
00:34:47Hey, uh, I gotta go run some errands.
00:34:50Uh, can you drop the kids off and I'll walk home?
00:34:53Well, I have to get back to the restaurant at some point.
00:34:55Yep, you have to.
00:34:57Um, see you later.
00:35:04You guys were having a good time at the park.
00:35:06What made you want to leave?
00:35:08Um, there was something I'd been suspecting for a while.
00:35:14I could feel it.
00:35:16I, I had to go confirm it.
00:35:18Yeah.
00:35:20I, I remember her.
00:35:27I, I'm lucky I'd beenì–´.
00:35:27I, I had to go move on to the first place.
00:35:27Mm hmm.
00:35:31Mm hmm.
00:35:34Mm hmm.
00:35:40Mm hmm.
00:36:40Oh.
00:36:45What are you doing here?
00:36:48I came to find you.
00:36:51Did you find this place?
00:36:54I followed the beer and God did the rest.
00:36:58Gosh.
00:36:59You and your beer.
00:37:01How did you know?
00:37:03I guess it was God, but when Jamie said 45 a week, that's when I knew it was the best
00:37:11real estate deal of all time.
00:37:16I think you told me that story a thousand times when I was younger.
00:37:20It was a 9,000 year lease for 45 a week.
00:37:24I guess that's why I'm in real estate.
00:37:26Yeah.
00:37:28Come, sit.
00:37:30Sit.
00:37:32Let's go.
00:37:40I saw your children.
00:37:42Beautiful.
00:37:45What are their names?
00:37:48There's Madison.
00:37:49Madison and, uh, Nealon.
00:37:55That's a good Irish name.
00:38:01Your husband is a kind man.
00:38:05He's a dreamer.
00:38:06Kind of like someone else I knew.
00:38:09Maura.
00:38:11I want you to know.
00:38:13I came here to find you.
00:38:15What's all this?
00:38:17I just can't explain it.
00:38:21God and beer.
00:38:25I don't understand if it's too much, but, um, it's been a long time.
00:38:29I mean, it is a bit much.
00:38:31I haven't seen you in over 20 years and you show up here in my husband's play restaurant.
00:38:37Something he knows nothing about and he's sunk all of our savings into.
00:38:41Not to mention I'm pretty sure he's on the path to becoming an alcoholic.
00:38:46I understand.
00:38:53How was lunch?
00:38:55Here.
00:38:56Aye, here.
00:38:59Fine.
00:39:01Could be better.
00:39:02Well, yes.
00:39:05The food was bland and...
00:39:09You're doing it too.
00:39:11You're trying to rope me in like the rest of them.
00:39:13This is not a family project.
00:39:18I have a job.
00:39:20A really good one.
00:39:24Do you know?
00:39:25I was boarded Las Vegas' best residential real estate agent for two years in a row.
00:39:30I do that.
00:39:32I help at church.
00:39:33I help with the community.
00:39:34I'm raising two kids basically on my own.
00:39:37And on top of that, my crazy husband goes and opens a tap house.
00:39:41Rose.
00:39:43Whatever.
00:39:52You'll be all right.
00:39:53You'll be all right.
00:39:56Just like that, I felt like everything was going to be okay.
00:40:00How does that happen?
00:40:02Dad power.
00:40:05Seriously.
00:40:06They just have a way of doing that.
00:40:09But you don't know my dad.
00:40:11He's just like Jamie.
00:40:14I remember when I was a little girl.
00:40:17He'd take me to these fields and we'd be walking around.
00:40:20And he'd pick up these plants and beans and anything he could find on the ground.
00:40:25Talking about how he's going to make the greatest beer in the world.
00:40:28So characters run in the family, huh?
00:40:31Apparently.
00:40:33Yeah.
00:40:34He was all about making.
00:40:36About creating.
00:40:37Just like Jamie.
00:40:39Just like you.
00:40:41Okay.
00:40:42You are no help.
00:40:43But I'm right.
00:40:46So, where is he now?
00:40:49I guess he's at the bar.
00:40:51Making beer.
00:40:53Making beer for your family.
00:40:55Making beer for Jamie.
00:40:57Where's Jamie?
00:40:58Oh, he's there.
00:41:01Have you told him?
00:41:03No.
00:41:04I told my dad not to tell him.
00:41:06I thought I better tell him myself.
00:41:08That's a good idea.
00:41:10But I guess the kids don't know.
00:41:15Whew.
00:41:1620 years.
00:41:17It's been 20 years since you've seen him.
00:41:20I was just a little girl when my mom took me from Ireland.
00:41:23My dad said he would never come to America.
00:41:26And here he is.
00:41:28I have all the gin joints in all of the towns.
00:41:32What are you going to do?
00:41:33I don't know.
00:41:36I have an idea.
00:41:37I don't like your ideas.
00:41:39Good one.
00:41:40You should invite him to church tomorrow.
00:41:42This is a place that you don't have to talk.
00:41:45Someone else is doing that.
00:41:46And you can sit with the family and feel the moment.
00:41:52Feel the moment?
00:41:53Feel the moment.
00:41:55Why don't you text him?
00:41:56Invite him.
00:41:57You think I should?
00:41:58Yeah.
00:41:59It's time.
00:42:00Come on.
00:42:03I don't even think he has a phone.
00:42:05Of course not.
00:42:05I don't even know where he's staying.
00:42:07I know nothing.
00:42:08It's easy.
00:42:10Text Jamie.
00:42:10Have him invite O'Shane.
00:42:12O'Shane?
00:42:13Is that his name?
00:42:15O'Sheen.
00:42:16O'Sheen?
00:42:17Okay.
00:42:17That's a weird name.
00:42:18Old Irish name.
00:42:20Text him.
00:42:21Come on.
00:42:22I really think I should.
00:42:24I do.
00:42:24You're not inviting a guy out on a date.
00:42:26It's your father.
00:42:27Alright?
00:42:27Send the text or I will.
00:42:29Okay.
00:42:29Why am I nervous?
00:42:31I don't know.
00:42:32No, because it's been 20 years.
00:42:34I want more coffee.
00:42:35Hurry up.
00:42:35Okay.
00:42:36Send.
00:42:36Okay.
00:42:38Coffee.
00:42:38Okay.
00:42:39Yeah.
00:42:39You want me to go get one?
00:42:40I need some.
00:42:42Want me to get?
00:42:42Yes.
00:42:44Yeah.
00:42:48You told us to walk to get up.
00:42:50It was me.
00:42:51Our taping buddy is here.
00:42:55Last trip, okay?
00:42:56Sure.
00:42:57Yeah.
00:42:57It's been a long day.
00:42:58Last trip.
00:42:59Yeah, of course.
00:43:00Good night.
00:43:18Hey.
00:43:19My wife just texted me.
00:43:21He wants to know if you want to come to church with us tomorrow.
00:43:25Hey.
00:43:26Yeah.
00:43:26I told her about you.
00:43:28Well, of course.
00:43:33Jamie special?
00:43:45You know, there are two types of drinkers in the world.
00:43:50The certain and the uncertain.
00:43:55Those that know are certain that they'll have only one drink.
00:43:59Maybe two.
00:44:01Drink at a ballpark.
00:44:02Gloss of wine with dinner.
00:44:05But with the uncertain, it could be one drink or it could be 20 drinks.
00:44:11It's the 20 drinks that'll get you.
00:44:13And those who are in the uncertain category should just not drink.
00:44:21I could have just one drink.
00:44:23I believe you.
00:44:25But you could also have more.
00:44:34You said yourself that alcohol wasn't bad.
00:44:36Jesus created it.
00:44:38I did.
00:44:39I did.
00:44:40And I stand by that.
00:44:42But a picture, if you will.
00:44:49A young man sitting in a large cathedral in Dublin with his wife and daughter.
00:44:56He was a young entrepreneur named Arthur Guinness.
00:45:00And he was a brewer.
00:45:04Now, back then, people didn't understand the germs and viruses and microorganisms.
00:45:10Well, they would put over and they would put their sewage and their garbage in the same
00:45:15water that they drank from.
00:45:16And, of course, people got sick.
00:45:18People started dying.
00:45:19So they started avoiding water altogether.
00:45:21And they turned to only drinking alcoholic beverages.
00:45:26Well, sometimes it wasn't too bad, you know.
00:45:28Well, it was well.
00:45:30But sometimes they were given to excess.
00:45:35And drunkenness was all the rage.
00:45:38This is what the historians call the gin craze.
00:45:42Back in 1689, the Irish government forbid the importation of old liquor.
00:45:49So, of course, people started making their own.
00:45:52The temptation was too great.
00:45:54Now, back in Dublin, every sixth house was a gin house with a sign in the window that said,
00:46:00drunk for a penny, dead drunk for tuppence, and clean straw for nothing.
00:46:08But it was a terrible time of crime and poverty.
00:46:16Now, inside Arthur Guinness was a devout Christian.
00:46:20Now, he was there under the prescience of John Wesley.
00:46:23He used to say, earn all you can, save all you can, save all you can, give all you can.
00:46:33So Arthur Guinness, he saw there was a need.
00:46:36And he created a drink that was less potent than the alcoholic beverages.
00:46:42He took the teachers of Christ, the teachers of God, and he put it into his business.
00:46:47So, Guinness, it's not just about beer.
00:46:51Guinness is about what God can do.
00:46:55And someone is willing to do something noble and good in the world.
00:47:02So, if you have your Bibles this morning, open, if you would, to Matthew chapter 25.
00:47:07This is the most important time of Jesus' ministry.
00:47:12This is the time when he faced the very purpose of why God sent him to this earth,
00:47:19the incarnate Christ, to come to save mankind from their sins.
00:47:26Oh, all right kids, lay that off for me and we'll get set up for lunch.
00:47:35Oh, did you paint that, my dear?
00:47:37Yeah, it's from my friend Tenley.
00:47:39Oh, it's beautiful.
00:47:41Reminds you of the Castle Leap in Ireland?
00:47:44They have castles in Ireland?
00:47:45Oui.
00:47:46And it's haunted.
00:47:49That's the castle where Halloween comes from.
00:47:52Would you like to hear the tale?
00:47:53Yeah.
00:47:57Many years ago, back in Ireland, there was a fella named Jack.
00:48:01Jack is not a good man.
00:48:04No.
00:48:05In fact, God didn't allow him into heaven for him being so bad.
00:48:09So with nowhere left to go, Jack was left to wander Ireland freely.
00:48:14The people were frightened of him.
00:48:16So, they would take candles and light him and place him inside pumpkins to scare away Jack.
00:48:24And that is why we have Jack-o-lanterns.
00:48:28To scare away the ghost of Jack!
00:48:32Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!
00:48:33Dad!
00:48:34Dad?
00:48:36Uh, kids, um, I told you to clear that up already.
00:48:39Go wash your hands for lunch.
00:48:40Quickly.
00:48:41Yeah.
00:48:42Now, thank you.
00:48:47Why did you just call him Dad?
00:48:51Because...
00:48:52This is my dad.
00:48:55When were you going to tell me?
00:48:57I just found out he was here.
00:48:59Ah, hi.
00:49:00Uh, I came here to find her.
00:49:05Yes.
00:49:05My daughter.
00:49:08But when I found your place, well, it's just nothing less than divine intervention as we've come to define it.
00:49:15So you two have talked?
00:49:18Well, when were you going to tell me?
00:49:20Don't over-dramatize this, Jamie.
00:49:23Uh, no way.
00:49:24I...
00:49:25Do the kids know?
00:49:26Well, I suspect they've got a clue now.
00:49:28Hey, kids!
00:49:30This is Grandpa Guinness.
00:49:33How about your grandpa?
00:49:35Grandpa Queen?
00:49:37Have you ever rid of princess?
00:49:38Do you live in a castle?
00:49:39I do.
00:49:40Does it rain a lot there?
00:49:41It rains, it rains.
00:49:42Come and sit down, please.
00:49:44Ha ha ha ha!
00:49:45Ha ha!
00:49:46Oh, my gosh!
00:49:47I should've... I should've known.
00:49:49Your maiden name is Quinn.
00:49:51And the pocket watch, it just... it all makes sense now.
00:49:54What watch?
00:50:04I remember when I gave you this when I was little, just before we left.
00:50:10You kept this the whole time?
00:50:14It's been with me every day.
00:50:19Guys, this is a very special day.
00:50:23I have my dad and my children, our children, have their grandpa here.
00:50:30So, Dad, would you like to say a blessing?
00:50:37I will be honoured, but it's not my home.
00:50:47Zoe.
00:50:56Dear Heavenly Father, I just want to thank you.
00:51:06Thank you for my wife.
00:51:11And this new experience we're about to go on together.
00:51:13Father, one that we need.
00:51:23And I want to thank you for my kids.
00:51:31And Grandpa Quinn.
00:51:35And most importantly, I want to thank you for this food that you've provided to us and use it to
00:51:38nourish our bodies.
00:51:41In Jesus' name we pray.
00:51:43Amen.
00:51:44Amen.
00:51:48Nora.
00:51:49This is delicious.
00:51:51We just whipped this up.
00:51:54She's such a good cook, and you wouldn't even know that those were leftovers.
00:51:57I've actually been trying to give her to give me a couple of recipes for the restaurant.
00:52:00Can we not talk about the restaurant right now, please?
00:52:03Well, why not?
00:52:04Maybe it's something that we could all do as a family.
00:52:06As a family?
00:52:08What?
00:52:09I cook the food, you make the beer, the kids can wait tables and wash the dishes, and you can
00:52:14sit at the bar?
00:52:19I'm sorry.
00:52:23I could wait tables.
00:52:26Yeah, I could do the dishes.
00:52:29Love that machine.
00:52:30You'd really want to do that?
00:52:32Yes.
00:52:44Okay.
00:52:45We can help.
00:52:47I can do my real estate during the day, but I still want them going to their summer arts programs.
00:52:53Are you serious?
00:52:57Yeah.
00:53:00But there's one stipulation.
00:53:03Name it.
00:53:04We have to close every night by 10pm.
00:53:09We'll miss the bar crowd.
00:53:11We'll miss the bar crowd, or you'll miss the bar crowd.
00:53:18Think about it.
00:53:19That's my one stipulation.
00:53:21That way, you're home every night.
00:53:24Here with us.
00:53:31Yeah.
00:53:33Yeah?
00:53:34Yeah.
00:53:39I mean, I was obviously shocked to find out that O'Shane was her father.
00:53:45I could imagine that's overwhelming for both of you.
00:53:49Yeah, it was surprising, but I couldn't help believe what he said. That God had showed him the way.
00:53:56And we were so busy at that point, it just felt like the new normal. And I got to spend
00:54:00more time with the kids and everything just started to get better.
00:54:22Oh, hey Robbie.
00:54:23Yeah?
00:54:23It might be tomorrow to change the sign outside to closing at 10pm, right?
00:54:2610pm, gotcha.
00:54:36Put it over here, you've got to cool it down.
00:54:46So, you're just so busy.
00:54:52I'm not trying to get into the danger.
00:54:55I'm not trying to get into it, but you're wearing a hat.
00:54:57I was trying to get into it here.
00:54:57Bye, bye.
00:54:57I'm looking for the big questions.
00:54:57Bye, bye.
00:54:58Bye, bye, bye
00:55:12You've been working really hard at this, Madison.
00:55:14Grand opening?
00:55:15My daddy's opening a restaurant.
00:55:17That's exciting.
00:55:18I'm going to put it over here.
00:55:29Just a little bit.
00:55:46There you go.
00:55:47I suggest he's doing a lot of work.
00:55:48There's a little stock going.
00:55:49Whoa!
00:55:55Whoa!
00:55:57That's the guy.
00:56:11That's the guy.
00:56:13That's the guy.
00:56:14And then the stuff going on.
00:56:15They're driving.
00:56:19Where am I going to find her?
00:56:21A girl who's as carefree and alive as to see itself.
00:56:25Where?
00:56:37Okay, no running.
00:56:39You don't have to run.
00:56:42That was a good day.
00:56:43It was absolutely an amazing day.
00:56:46So, anyway, that's Jamie.
00:56:51Oh, yeah.
00:56:52Hey, hi.
00:56:53You're Nealon and Madison's dad, right?
00:56:54Yeah, Jamie.
00:56:55Yeah, I'm Mark.
00:56:56I'm the principal here.
00:56:57Nice to meet you.
00:56:57Great to finally meet you.
00:56:59Your kids are fantastic.
00:57:01Your son, in particular, is really coming out of his shell, so to speak.
00:57:06He's a natural.
00:57:07He is.
00:57:07He is.
00:57:07He is amazing.
00:57:08Hi.
00:57:08How are you?
00:57:09Did you speak to Nora?
00:57:11Yes, I did.
00:57:11So we're having a grand opening at the brewery on Monday.
00:57:14Love to have you guys show up.
00:57:15Oh.
00:57:15Got to go on.
00:57:17Ah!
00:57:18Come here.
00:57:19Brewery.
00:57:20Yes.
00:57:21I don't drink it.
00:57:22I do.
00:57:24And his wife is an amazing cook.
00:57:27Oh.
00:57:28Well, I eat.
00:57:29I will definitely eat.
00:57:30That's good.
00:57:30Yeah, I know that.
00:57:31Jamie had been more present with the family, which I was grateful for, but I couldn't
00:57:37help but wait for the other shoe to drop.
00:57:39Like what?
00:57:41Well, he was still at the bar a lot.
00:57:44I didn't know if I could trust him yet.
00:57:47I had a lot of reason not to.
00:57:49Were you still drinking?
00:57:52I hadn't let myself admit that I had a problem.
00:57:57It's a tough habit to kick.
00:57:59Especially when you own a bar.
00:58:29I can't help.
00:58:30I can't help.
00:58:30I can't help.
00:58:32I can't help.
00:58:34I can't help.
00:58:41I can't help.
00:58:44I can't help.
00:58:53Oh.
00:58:55I'm glad you're here.
00:58:57I wanted to do another job.
00:58:58show you the sale I've been working on. This is a Doppelbock beer. Back in the 18th century,
00:59:08Hollander monks from Germany used to brew this dark, heavy, multi-beer called Doppelbock
00:59:15for Lent. You see they weren't allowed to eat solid food for 40 days and beer was the next best
00:59:21thing. This beer was so nutritious that it nourished them for the entire 40 days of the fast.
00:59:30And this is our version. It's quite tasty.
00:59:41Lent is a funny thing. It's kind of like our own personal sacrifice to God. We give up something
00:59:49and in return, we show respect to our creator. We had a friend back in Ireland. Brewmaster.
00:59:56He was a little too close to his own work, if you know what you mean.
01:00:01He gave up drinking his own brew for 40 days. He reversed it. And then he did another 40 days
01:00:09and
01:00:09another and another. Look at this. Ever wonder why beer is different colours?
01:00:19Never really crossed my mind, but sure. Beer, time, is colour.
01:00:29As the beer ages, it changes its appearance. Now in this glass there are thousands of tiny
01:00:37little particles, yeast, hops, citrus. But after a while, all these unseen particles fall to the bottom
01:00:48of the glass. Never to be seen again. That's when the beer finds its true colour.
01:00:59Sometimes he wants to let things fall.
01:01:04Let's go home.
01:01:26I thought you were supposed to drink it.
01:01:29I love you, darling. Oh, well, all your taste buds are in your mouth, so no need to go down
01:01:35the hatch,
01:01:36as they say. Besides, getting to taste just right takes a lot to practice.
01:01:46That's gross. I agree.
01:01:51You really know what all this does? Aye.
01:01:55I'd better go. Mom doesn't like it here. Really?
01:02:01Well, why is that?
01:02:08Beer? Yuck. She says it's not good for you. Says Dad likes it, though.
01:02:16Do you like ice cream?
01:02:19Me too. Now, tell me. Have you ever had a whole tub of it? Or just a few scoops?
01:02:31Do you like working here? Yeah, it's cool. I hope my dad will let me keep my tips.
01:02:37I'm sure he will, my darling. I'm sure he will.
01:02:41You know, your dad is very proud of you. He told me that himself.
01:02:47That's cool.
01:02:50This place isn't just about beer, you know. No, it's about friends and family.
01:02:59People getting together to eat. But tell me, when you're going to a birthday party or going to some
01:03:05friends, you go out to eat, yeah? It's about food? That's what this place is.
01:03:14In fact, my dear Madison, the Bible that we study in church talks a lot about people getting together
01:03:20and eating in places like this, eating and celebrating. And that's what your dad has created here.
01:03:28Hey, Dad.
01:03:29Hey. You helping Grandpa Q?
01:03:33Just Grandpa. I'm going to go say hi to Lily.
01:03:38She called me Grandpa.
01:03:44So the Bible has places just like this, huh?
01:03:48Hey. Not just like this. But they ate. And they ate a lot.
01:03:53Jesus feeding the multitude. I find that hard to believe.
01:03:56Yes. Really. First you have the Last Supper. Then, after that, you've got the Feast of the Passover,
01:04:04the Feast of the Tabernacle, the Feast of the Tempest, the Feast of the First Fruits,
01:04:08the Feast of the... Oh, right. I get it.
01:04:11They ate a lot of food in the Bible.
01:04:13Hey. Good.
01:04:16Hey.
01:04:30Hey, did you remember to re-ice the flounder in the walk-in?
01:04:36You know, I just sold a house to a guy that brings in fresh lobsters twice a week.
01:04:42I was thinking about adding a surfing tip or something to the menu for the grand opening.
01:04:47Sounds good.
01:04:49Hey.
01:04:51What's up?
01:04:57Someone offered me a drink tonight.
01:05:00I said no.
01:05:01Okay.
01:05:05I've just been thinking about quitting.
01:05:10Do you need to quit?
01:05:14I think so.
01:05:19Okay.
01:05:22Well, good.
01:05:24Quit.
01:05:29Do you know why I love you?
01:05:36You are the hardest working man I know.
01:05:42You let nothing go.
01:05:44Nothing passes you by.
01:05:47Everything's an opportunity for you and nothing's negative.
01:05:50You're just like my dad.
01:05:56Successful.
01:05:57Driven.
01:05:59Creative.
01:06:04Could go on.
01:06:07Please do.
01:06:08Dad.
01:06:18It's just a dream.
01:06:22I don't know if it's realistic.
01:06:29Of course it's realistic.
01:06:32Look at what we've done together.
01:06:36My dad is here.
01:06:38Maddie's talking to you again.
01:06:40That in itself is a...
01:06:44Nealon looks up to you.
01:06:47I'm loving all of this.
01:06:50Our family is good.
01:06:54And you're the torch behind all of them.
01:06:57You're the torch.
01:07:22Good morning.
01:07:24Morning.
01:07:27Could I, uh...
01:07:28Could I show you something?
01:07:30Sure.
01:07:37Hey, I, uh...
01:07:39Just wanted to say I appreciate you for last night.
01:07:43Not really sure what I was thinking.
01:07:45Well, thinking is one thing.
01:07:48Doing is another.
01:07:49For a man, temptation is not a sin.
01:07:53It's a curse.
01:07:56Yeah.
01:07:59Hey, do you think we're gonna have the new beers on tap by the weekend?
01:08:02I do.
01:08:04And you will have your own prisoner.
01:08:08Don't be at the top of the town.
01:08:11Uh, I'm so glad you came here.
01:08:14I am too.
01:08:22You know, uh...
01:08:25I played out the scenario a thousand times.
01:08:28of reintroducing myself to Nora.
01:08:31I've never did a player like this.
01:08:34You're the torch of this family.
01:09:06It's funny.
01:09:08I'm happy that Nora's with you.
01:09:13Not perfect.
01:09:15None of us are.
01:09:17We'll do struggle.
01:09:18We'll keep going.
01:09:20I pray to God to provide His divine way.
01:09:25Should we do that now?
01:09:27Of course.
01:09:36Sounds like you're in a really good place right now.
01:09:39We are.
01:09:40We've learned to trust that God knows what He's doing.
01:09:44Definitely.
01:09:45And O'Shea.
01:09:46Him too.
01:09:47Jamie, are you still sober?
01:09:50It's been nine months now.
01:09:53How's it been?
01:09:55Not easy.
01:09:58Worth it.
01:10:01Really proud of him.
01:10:02You should be.
01:10:03And Jamie, you should be proud of Nora.
01:10:05Oh, I am.
01:10:08She's put up with a lot over the years and never gave up with me.
01:10:13Everything that we've conquered has been because of her.
01:10:16Even coming today, it was her idea.
01:10:19So, let's talk about what you're wanting to do.
01:10:22A renewing of ours?
01:10:23Yeah.
01:10:24What made you book a counseling session before doing that?
01:10:26Well, like we said, you know,
01:10:29pretended like everything was okay for a long time and
01:10:32things are good right now, but you don't want to get back to that place again.
01:10:36I think that's really smart.
01:10:38Think of it like a tune-up for your car.
01:10:42But make sure she doesn't trade in this old model for a new one.
01:10:46Don't worry.
01:10:46I like my car's vintage.
01:11:03Do you want to grab something to eat before you pick up the kits?
01:11:05Sure. But first, I have something I'd like to give to you.
01:11:12Is that a torch?
01:11:16I thought you might like to wear something that symbolizes all of the sacrifices you've made for our family.
01:11:26I love you.
01:11:28I love you.
01:11:29Well...
01:11:35I will wait to see your golden smile.
01:11:43Feel of a thousand kisses.
01:11:46Oh, please stay a while
01:11:50I'll reach up to hold
01:11:54Your sunlit face
01:11:58Feels like a handful of silk now
01:12:02I'm in your warm embrace
01:12:05Oh, I hope this field lasts
01:12:10Till the oceans turn to glass
01:12:14And the world around us turns
01:12:18And fades to black
01:12:20Together we'll hold back the sun
01:12:24In this moment forever young
01:12:28Against the stream of time we'll run, baby
01:12:33We'll hold back the sun
01:12:36In this moment forever young
01:12:40Against the stream of time we'll run
01:12:44Baby, we'll hold back the sun
01:12:49In this moment forever
01:12:52We'll hold back the sun
01:12:56Baby, thanks, for awesome
