00:01This program documents actual homicide investigations.
00:05Criminal charges are often dropped or reduced,
00:07and all suspects shown are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
00:20Fire, medical.
00:21Police and medical.
00:22What's going on?
00:22All I know is there was fighting, gunshot,
00:25there was a dying leg in the middle of the road.
00:31Hello?
00:32Yes, we need inside.
00:34Are you right there with the patient?
00:36Yes, he's on the ground.
00:39Is he awake?
00:40Yes, he's breathing.
00:41I need to hurry up because he's bleeding bad.
00:45Avalanche is on the way.
00:48No other way.
00:49No other way.
00:51No other way.
00:52Okay, he's still breathing.
00:53I'm getting ready.
00:58I'm getting ready.
00:59I'm getting ready.
01:00I'm getting ready for the hospital.
01:01They're being careful at the hospital.
01:06The people that jumped in the heart that shot him,
01:11one of them got hit in the leg.
01:12Yes.
01:12So they should be going to the hospital.
01:14Hey, they said one of our suspects
01:15might've been hitting the leg too,
01:17so let us know if somebody shows up at the hospital
01:19as soon as you figure that out.
01:25He ran, he heard his friends say, run, run, fuck it.
01:28Like, ran down this creek bed.
01:30Hey, Cam.
01:32They just now told me one of the shooters ran on foot.
01:37Hey, Hauk, they said he went that way toward the creek.
01:40Let's go this way, clear this, where he was kind of headed.
01:45Let's go around the front and work this side down here.
02:01We tracked the suspect this way, but now we can't find him.
02:10Hello?
02:13Pronounced at the hospital?
02:14Yeah, I gotcha.
02:17He has passed away.
02:19I'm being deferred to homicide.
02:32For homicide detectives, their chance of solving a murder is cut in half if they don't get a lead within
02:40the first 48 hours.
02:56So, Brandon gave me a call about 30 minutes ago, said, we got a homicide.
03:00Uh, our victim already been transported?
03:04He wasn't 10-7 here.
03:05He was still, he still had a pulse when he was here.
03:07Okay.
03:08And who is him?
03:10His name is Farron, F-A-R-R-O-N, Cooper.
03:1623-year-old Farron, was raised in Tulsa, where he attended Union High School.
03:22He loved music and dreamed of becoming a rapper.
03:26He had three children and another on the way.
03:32He lives here?
03:33Yeah, he, well, yes.
03:35The woman over here, his, his baby mama.
03:41That's where the guy was found.
03:44Okay.
03:45Has anybody been able to say that they heard one, two, three, four shots?
03:48Yeah, I think he, the guy that we're getting ready to talk to is saying he heard two.
03:53And the guy looks like he's been shot twice.
03:55Farron was shot once in the stomach and once in the hip.
03:58We heard two shots, we got two casings.
04:01Both of the casings are .40 caliber.
04:05If you don't mind, start photographing, collecting it.
04:07I appreciate it.
04:16An unknown black male ran that way.
04:18Canine tracked for a long ways and found a hoodie, a pretty good ways to act.
04:22But couldn't find suspect.
04:24I got about eight witness statements.
04:28One of our witnesses said, hey, y'all should be having another suspect
04:32to show up at a hospital with a shot in his leg.
04:34Patrol checked nearby emergency rooms
04:36and found a man recently admitted with a gunshot wound to the leg.
04:43We're gonna bring him down.
04:44He will be transported to homicide once he's released by the hospital.
04:50Looks like a camera right there.
04:53He also has a ring doorbell there.
04:56Detectives find a security camera in the house,
04:59belonging to the mother of Farron's children.
05:03Let me try to talk to baby mama.
05:09I'm Vernon.
05:10I know this is tough, okay?
05:12I'm sorry for what you're going through.
05:14We're more likely gonna have to process part of the house.
05:17The easiest and quickest way we can get that done
05:19is if you'd be willing to sign what's called a search waiver.
05:21Would you be willing to sign one, honey?
05:25Okay.
05:26I know this is a tough time for you, and we're probably gonna need you to go down to the
05:31detective division with us.
05:32It won't take long.
05:34How far along are you?
05:36I'm eight and a half.
05:37Okay, yeah.
05:38I don't want that stress on you.
05:39So we're gonna get you taken care of as quickly as we can, okay, honey?
05:45You handle these main witnesses, head on downtown, have these people brought downtown.
05:49Right.
05:50While the team continues to process the scene,
05:52Detective Jeff Gatwood heads to homicide to begin interviewing witnesses.
06:09We're a victim that passed, Mr. Cooper, the mother of his child.
06:13I'm gonna go interview her in a second, and we'll go from there.
06:22I'm the one that's doing this investigation of Mr. Cooper's shooting, okay?
06:27This is a detective ward.
06:29This shouldn't have happened, okay?
06:32But somebody shot him.
06:33So it's very important that you tell me everything that you know.
06:38Don't hold back.
06:43Frank came to see his kids.
06:45Yeah, just got out of jail today.
06:48She says when Farron was released from jail earlier today,
06:51he showed up at the house with a friend.
06:55I'm assuming he lives with you.
06:56No, he been in jail.
06:57We had broke up like a couple weeks before he went to jail.
07:01How long was he in jail?
07:03Two months.
07:04So how many kids do you have with Mr. Cooper?
07:07I have two and I'm pregnant like this.
07:12I need you to tell me about what happened today.
07:16While we're outside, my sister was coming to get my kids.
07:21And Farron, he grabbed the kids and he took them to the car.
07:25I ran back to the house to go get some diapers and the wipes.
07:28When I came out, there was a truck going on.
07:31And I see a family on the ground.
07:36I ran into the house and I tried to get some shirts or something to hold.
07:51You're doing a really good job, sweetie.
07:53Clarification about the black truck.
07:55When did this black truck come in play?
07:56I didn't know it pulled up.
07:59I didn't know.
08:00I was in the house.
08:01Who was in that truck?
08:02I don't know.
08:03I couldn't see in that truck.
08:04It was black tint.
08:05It was all black.
08:08So did you hear gunshots?
08:11Yeah.
08:13Maybe like three or so.
08:18Hold on.
08:20Hold on a second.
08:21Keep on talking to her.
08:22I've got to take this call.
08:23An officer calls Detective Gatwood from the crime scene.
08:28So, I just want to make sure I kind of have an understanding of what happened.
08:32When did, when did Farron show back up at the house?
08:35He was already at the house for a couple hours before all this happened.
08:39How was things going when he was there at the house?
08:42Was it just you and him and the kids?
08:44He was just arguing.
08:48And he was trying to take the TV.
08:51He's drunk.
08:53He's super drunk.
08:56I want to ask you a question.
08:57And I don't want you to take it the wrong way, but it's something that we kind of need to
09:00understand, okay?
09:02I know if he shows up and he's drunk and he's having problems, and you're wanting him gone,
09:07is there a chance that somebody else got called to come over there to help with that?
09:12No.
09:14Are you sure?
09:15He don't put his hands on me.
09:17He don't take it that far.
09:19It's none of that.
09:21It was just like a petty argument.
09:23Like, I'm gonna take the TV.
09:24No, you're not.
09:27Okay.
09:34So, who is ?
09:39What do you mean your friend?
09:43So, was he over there tonight?
09:48She admits there was another man already at the house when Farron showed up.
09:53So, you didn't tell us that earlier, did you?
09:58I was just kind of starting to dig into the fact that I think...
10:00Farron may have showed up causing problems after getting out of jail,
10:04and I was trying to ask her...
10:05They were cool.
10:06They wasn't fighting or nothing like that.
10:08They were boom.
10:09They were shaking hands and talking.
10:12Okay, so and Farron got into an argument.
10:21Okay, because this is what's important is that we get all the truth
10:25because, um, again, Farron's dead, and you have to tell the whole truth to us.
10:41Okay, so this is what happened.
10:58Farron walked in the house.
11:01Farron's home point was there.
11:11She says her friend had been at the house for half an hour when Farron and his friend first arrived.
11:40She says a short while later, Farron's friend left the house.
11:46We're all in the living room, and then he realized that his gun was missing.
11:50She says that her friend claimed that he couldn't find his gun.
11:55And so he asked Farron, like, hey, bro, you know where my gun is?
12:00And Farron was like, no, you know, help them look for it.
12:03You know, he just help them look for it.
12:05So then Farron called...
12:07She says Farron called his friend that left and demanded he return so they could search his car.
12:21She says minutes later, her sister arrived to pick up her children for the evening.
12:27Farron had kids, and he was putting them in the car.
12:31So Farron was putting the kids in your sister's car, right?
12:34Yes.
12:34Putting kids?
12:35I ran in the house to go get the diapers and the wipes.
12:39When I went outside, her car was gone.
12:41All the cars were gone, and Farron was on the ground, and everybody was gone.
12:46And it was just me and Farron.
12:50It sounds like to me why this happened is there was obviously people that got upset
12:55about a gun missing.
12:57And it sounds like it went south from there.
13:00But we're going to find out.
13:03So everything you've told me so far is the truth?
13:07Yeah.
13:08All right.
13:10Okay, hang tight.
13:13So after we cleared the crime scene, a family member showed up and told us about a friend
13:18that was staying with her while Farron was in jail.
13:22The same person at the hospital with a gunshot wound to his leg.
13:28He walked out of Hillcrest.
13:30Officers caught him coming out.
13:31Officers took the friend into custody and are transporting him to homicide.
13:38Now he needs to come in and talk.
13:42Witnesses, we need to still talk to them.
13:51I know honestly this has been going on since like 2 o'clock today.
13:55Detective Vernon McNeil interviews a neighbor who was outside at the time of the shooting.
13:59And they kept fighting.
14:00I believe it was over a stolen gun from what I could hear.
14:05While this is happening, this damn truck pulls up.
14:09You know, like 50.
14:11They hopped out.
14:12They were, they were, they were there to do what they came to do.
14:18How many people hopped up?
14:20The driver was like 300 pound black dude.
14:23Okay, so the driver.
14:24He didn't shoot.
14:25He was trying to break it up.
14:27The driver was.
14:28He seemed like a older dude who didn't know what he just got himself into.
14:33He had three passengers with him.
14:36They were all lanky with dreads.
14:38So there's four in the total.
14:40The guy who got out the passenger back seat had a hoodie on.
14:44He puts his hoodie on while he's arguing with the victim.
14:47Pulls the strings tight.
14:48He gets his gun in his hand.
14:49They're just acting hard at this point.
14:51And he points it at the victim.
14:53And the victim's like.
14:55My kids are right here.
14:58The victim lines like him.
14:59They grabbed the guy.
15:00Now I'm saying.
15:01He shot him.
15:03My point.
15:06And the second one was cold blood, man.
15:09Because he had already.
15:11The first one dropped him.
15:16Describe the shooter.
15:17How tall do you think he was?
15:196'2", 6'3".
15:20He was barely taller than me.
15:22But he was really slim.
15:24He could have been.
15:25I'm 27.
15:26I don't even think he was my age.
15:28He looked like a damn baby.
15:30And he had dreads.
15:31How long were a dread, do you think?
15:34Short length.
15:35Short length.
15:36Short length.
15:36Short length.
15:36Short length.
15:42You see this black avalanche comes zooming down.
15:46Lieutenant Brandon Watkins interviews another neighbor.
15:50All four doors open.
15:51And people fly off.
15:53Like, three to five people.
15:54And then shot to fire.
15:56Like, I think three, maybe.
15:58Two to the guy who died, and then another one to, I think the guy who got back in the
16:02truck.
16:06She says the man who was shot in the leg got into the black truck that had just shown up.
16:13I remember because of the guy who was a shooter, he was trying to get in the truck.
16:16Like, no, no, no, just run, run.
16:18He ran down the creek.
16:19He threw his head off.
16:20He was wearing a camo hoodie with orange on the sides.
16:24He ran.
16:25He booked it.
16:25Pulled a little bit off the car.
16:26You could hear the door slamming.
16:27And then you could hear the screeching of the tires and they're gone.
16:36Black truck pulls up one of the backseat passers, puts his hoodie up, yanks the cord down, pulls it, has
16:42his gun out.
16:43And the victim says, man, don't do this in front of my kid and tries to swipe at the gun.
16:46And then he fires twice.
16:49The dude shoots twice at him.
16:51And one of the rounds went through and hits the kid with a gunshot wound.
16:57How did he get to the hospital?
16:58They loaded him up.
17:00So after the gunshots go off, the other guys grab the gunshot dude, load him up into the car, and
17:06they're yelling at the shooter, run.
17:07The car in the black truck?
17:08The black truck.
17:09They load him up in the black truck and they take off.
17:15This is clear as mud, isn't it?
17:17It's just chaotic with all the different moving parts and had a lot of drama over guns and women, makings
17:24of a good blues song right there, that turned into a murder-splash shooting.
17:37Five hours in.
17:39Just have a seat over there.
17:44We've got a guy that we're going to go interview here in a second.
17:46He was a survivor of this deal.
17:48So he's been shot and hopefully he'll be honest and tell us who shot him and what's this about.
17:57Yeah, Brad.
17:58Before Gatwood can begin the interview.
18:01Okay, go ahead.
18:02He gets a break.
18:05All right, thanks buddy.
18:08Blackwell had an SID with a gun crime unit.
18:11He just gave me a call.
18:12I guess he has an informant that called him and said that there's a guy they call Q Blood.
18:18He might be the possible shooter on this deal.
18:34Q Blood went there to fight the victim.
18:38And it went from a fist fight to a gun fight.
18:47Supposedly, Q Blood shot our victim.
18:52And then he shot his homeboy.
18:55So this kid, he may know everything that we need to know.
19:01You just got to figure out who the hell Q Blood is.
19:03He's witnessed this.
19:04He's going to know who all was involved.
19:17You all right, big man?
19:20All right.
19:21I'm Detective Gatwood.
19:22This is Detective Ward.
19:24We're homicide detectives, okay?
19:26Yeah, homicide.
19:29Mr. Cooper?
19:30You know Mr. Cooper?
19:31I know of him.
19:33Okay.
19:33Well, he's passed away.
19:35So, real quick.
19:37Have you been shot?
19:38Yes.
19:39Where at?
19:40Okay.
19:42Where do you live at?
19:44Huh?
19:49You couch surfing?
19:51Not kind of, but the pregnant ticket is my girl.
19:55Okay.
19:58You've been staying there with her?
19:59Yeah.
20:00Okay.
20:00So, let's go back to today.
20:03Were you over...
20:04Were you there at the house today?
20:06He ended up to the house with my son.
20:08Gonna go over there and get his clothes.
20:09Go on there, boom.
20:10You know, me and her kicking and we chilling, talking for a minute.
20:14He's like, I'm going in.
20:15I heard some crazy ass.
20:17No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
20:19I'm here, and what's up?
20:22And, like, not nothing, like, aggressive or nothing like that,
20:25but just happy, basically.
20:26It's like .
20:28It's like, baby, that.
20:29Boom.
20:31Automatically, you know, I'm thinking, this about to be trippling.
20:35Well, he came to me and said, Bo, I appreciate you, bro,
20:38if you take care of my kids, bro, and all this
20:40and everything like this.
20:41I said, bro, no problem, bro.
20:43Were there other people with him?
20:44Yes.
20:46So, I go outside and go feed the dogs.
20:49When I'm going back in the house,
20:52the baby daddy's just trying to take all her stuff.
20:55Everything.
20:56Steal the out of, like, take, he's still the out of the house.
21:00He's trying to take the big-ass TV out of the house.
21:02I tell her, hey, man, don't worry about it, bro.
21:04Let him take it, bro.
21:05Call your brother over here.
21:07When I say that, he come grabs me.
21:09Boom.
21:09Like this.
21:10I say, hey, man, get a puppy.
21:11Move him.
21:11Grab him, put him on the wall like this.
21:12Boom.
21:14So, then, when that happened, I go in and get my life.
21:18I'm like, listen, bro.
21:20Please, bro.
21:20Just leave me out of here, bro.
21:22What was his boys doing?
21:23This is the funny thing.
21:24They left.
21:26They had a little son.
21:27Left him there.
21:30He's tripping.
21:31Coming at me sideways for no reason.
21:33Talking about how he gonna get his homies with the Draco's
21:35and all that crazy stuff.
21:37Boom, boom.
21:39I'm telling her, bro, I don't live here, bro.
21:41I'm just here, everybody.
21:43My dog is here.
21:44My clothes is here sometimes.
21:45She's helping me wash my clothes.
21:47Boom.
21:48And I come help her with her kids.
21:50She's pregnant.
21:51I take her to the doctor.
21:53I take her to the hospital.
21:54Everything.
21:56Did somebody's gun end up missing earlier at the house?
22:00We talked to your girl.
22:01She already said you had a gun earlier, and Cooper had a gun.
22:08I said, man, the dude took a gun.
22:13He blew up 10 minutes later.
22:15The dude said, bro, I don't even have no gun, bro.
22:18You can check my car.
22:19The baby mama looked in the car.
22:20He says she searched Farron's friend's car,
22:23but didn't find his missing gun.
22:28Okay, so what happened from there?
22:29A truck come in.
22:30Boom.
22:31And everybody jumped out.
22:33And what was this truck?
22:35What did it look like?
22:35It's a dark truck.
22:37Who said, yeah, I'm beating up everybody.
22:39They start fighting.
22:40Boom.
22:40The truck grabbed baby mama.
22:41I grabbed right there.
22:42I got shot.
22:43Boom.
22:44And I said, I'm shot.
22:45I'm shot.
22:46I'm shot.
22:46I pulled out some money out my pocket.
22:49I said, give me a ride to the hospital.
22:52So I'm just blusking through whoever the is.
22:55He said, give it to me.
22:57Throw me in the truck.
22:59So the guy in the black truck gave you a ride out there?
23:01Yeah.
23:02For your ass money.
23:04Okay, so what happened to Mr. Cooper?
23:06You're not the only one who got shot.
23:07I didn't shoot no one.
23:08That's not what I said.
23:09I said, what happened to Mr. Cooper?
23:11Oh, I'm sorry.
23:12I apologize.
23:13I apologize.
23:14As soon as I got hit, I left.
23:17And asked her what's going on.
23:20She said, my baby daddy got shot.
23:24Did you know anybody in that black truck?
23:26When that truck pulled up, I said, listen.
23:28I thought I knew the .
23:30But to be honest, I don't know.
23:33What?
23:34Yeah.
23:34A red and black truck.
23:35Who do you think?
23:36If you thought you knew him, who is it?
23:39You need to spill it.
23:41You don't have to tell us who you think it is to do the shooting.
23:43Because the deal is, you got shot.
23:45And then you end up leaving in that truck that did the shooting.
24:03I don't know.
24:03I don't know.
24:04I don't know.
24:05I don't know.
24:05I don't know what.
24:18I understand how the hell this looks.
24:21Listen, you got to understand where I'm coming from.
24:23I'm scared as .
24:24No lie.
24:25I'm scared than .
24:26But at the end of the day, I'm right.
24:30I'm right no matter what the .
24:32I did no type of aggression .
24:34None of that.
24:37It's perfectly understandable for you to call up some friends and say,
24:40Hey, man, I need some help over here.
24:42And the idea is they're going to come over here and he's going to see,
24:46OK, , I'm out.
24:47Right?
24:48One of them jumps out and does some crazy .
24:51The person that shot is nobody that was in the truck,
24:55that went in the truck when I left.
24:57They may not have left in the truck, but they showed up in the truck.
24:59You call for some help.
25:01Some dude showed up and he was on some .
25:03He jumped out and that was not what your intention was.
25:06And if that's the case, we need to know that right now.
25:09Because if not, you're lumped in with him.
25:11Put it up.
25:12You're responsible for this man's day.
25:14Let me tell you this.
25:14Let me tell you this, sir.
25:15Y'all want it?
25:16Y'all want me to help y'all?
25:18I want you to help yourself.
25:19Yeah, we want you to help yourself.
25:20I have to help y'all because, in fact, listen,
25:23I have nothing to do with it.
25:24Am I going to go hunting my son or not?
25:26I mean, I don't know if you're a suspect or not at this point.
25:30Not at all.
25:31Not even a little bit.
25:33OK.
25:33All right?
25:40Q blood.
25:42That's the person that I .
25:44I just .
25:47Look.
25:47That's the .
25:49What did Q do?
25:50Just spill the beans.
25:53What did he do?
25:54He start fighting.
25:55Who did he start fighting with?
25:57Mm, fool.
25:58I grabbed a baby mama to get out of the way.
26:01I said, hey, man, move.
26:02Fire.
26:03And what?
26:04The fire got shot.
26:05Who shot?
26:07Who shot?
26:08Who shot?
26:12So why would Q shoot Cooper and you?
26:17Bro, I don't think I got shot on purpose.
26:21Coop said when anybody pull up, he's beating everybody up.
26:24Homies, friends, everybody.
26:27He was shot.
26:28Did you see Q with a gun?
26:31Yes or no?
26:32Come on.
26:33Just be honest.
26:34Huh?
26:35Yeah.
26:37Bro, it was weird.
26:39He pulled it out, racked it, I think.
26:44Put it back in.
26:45And then that's when Coop took off on him.
26:47Coop hit him.
26:48When he hit him, a gun went off.
26:50Boom!
26:52Did you see him shoot Coop?
26:55Yes or no?
26:55My life, I did not.
26:56Listen, on my son, I did not see no shoot.
27:00But I know for a fact Coop did not have a gun.
27:07Q, you need to give us his name.
27:09No, listen, on my son, on my life, my last heartbeat.
27:13I don't know.
27:13Not one thing.
27:15I promise you.
27:15I'm about to give you some reality right here.
27:19If you ask if you could go home with your son later,
27:21you might be going to jail for felony murder.
27:23No, listen to you real quick.
27:25No, listen, listen, listen.
27:27You want to go to jail for felony murder,
27:29you want to be honest about everything.
27:30Because look, you, Q.
27:34So you have a problem that's looking at your phone?
27:36No, hell no.
27:37You can see the time at this phone.
27:40I'm going to get his phone.
27:40Go get my phone.
27:43What is Q's real name?
27:45No, it's been like pulling teeth with you to get anywhere.
27:50I didn't see him shoot, but I know for a fact
27:52that Quinn didn't have a quick, quick, quick, quick,
27:55quick, quick, quick, quick, I know him.
28:02I know him.
28:03What is it?
28:06He has said it.
28:07You let it slip.
28:09I know him, Quinn.
28:11I know him.
28:14We need this for you, but...
28:16Gatwood sends the shooter's name to the team.
28:19What's his number?
28:20I ain't gonna lie.
28:22Matter of fact, I have his number.
28:26First name, Quentin.
28:28Oh, Quentin.
28:29Oh, perfect.
28:30Crime analyst, Margo Hayne Bell, looks up the name and phone number in the database.
28:37Change, change.
28:37Gotcha.
28:39We're looking at a photo that goes with a phone number.
28:42That goes with a first name, starts with a Q.
28:45Quentin Caldwell.
28:59Pull that up bigger picture, I'm gonna take a picture and verify.
29:04Bam.
29:08He was born in 2002.
29:10That makes him pretty young.
29:12Quentin Caldwell grew up in Tulsa.
29:15He's 20 years old and has two daughters.
29:18He has no prior convictions.
29:29Who is this?
29:31It's Quinn.
29:33Okay.
29:36How can we find Quinn?
29:42He gives detectives the location.
29:46Okay.
29:47Hang tight.
29:47We'll be back in a minute, all right?
29:54He was minimizing a lot of things.
29:56I think he called his friends, but then it went bad from there once they showed up.
30:04We do have a suspect in this thing.
30:06His name's Quinn.
30:09I'll talk to the district attorney tomorrow.
30:11It's almost 2 o'clock in the morning.
30:14Detective McNeil gonna run out to the victim's mother's house.
30:18We like to meet with the families of the victims and do a face-to-face.
30:22Let them know who's investigating their loved one's murder.
30:36The next day, as Gatwood works on the murder warrant for Quentin Caldwell.
30:42She gave us access to her ring account, and so I was able to pull a whole bunch of video.
30:48At 2.45 p.m., it shows a friend showing up to the residence with a child.
31:00At 3.08 p.m., it shows Farron and his friend.
31:04It shows them coming into the house carrying some kids.
31:17And then you start to hear her and Farron kind of arguing with each other.
31:32And then it sounds like it's Farron and my other friend are talking back and forth.
31:42They're talking about who has bodies and all this other stuff.
31:504.27 p.m., him and Farron are kind of talking out in front of the car.
31:57They're not yelling. It seems like they're just talking.
32:00So the last recording is at 4.35 p.m.
32:05The shooting happens an hour after the ring stopped recording.
32:11The ring bell video really didn't help out on the arrest warrant,
32:16but it did corroborate some of the statements that were taken from the witnesses.
32:20Farron just got out of jail, went over to the house, and she had a friend there.
32:26And at some point, Farron got into it with the friend.
32:32I believe there was some jealousy that was involved.
32:34But it may have been over also the gun that came up missing.
32:38After the ring video, the friend ended up calling his friends to come over to the house.
32:43And when they got there, Farron ended up getting killed in front of his kids.
32:48And she's sitting there carrying his newborn baby-to-be.
32:51So it's terrible.
32:53It's something that shouldn't have happened, that's for sure.
33:05The next morning.
33:06I just walked a warrant through today for murder.
33:09So right now, Quentin Caldwell is wanted for first-degree murder.
33:14Our warrant squad will be setting up on a location that he possibly may be at.
33:23We are going to a house where we believe a homicide suspect, Quentin Caldwell.
33:30According to sources, he was dropped off last night.
33:40I do see movement over close to the front door on our house.
33:45But as the clock ticks away...
33:48I don't think it turns so much.
33:50He's not even close to six foot.
33:52They come up empty.
33:56Dang it.
34:07In the first 48, Tulsa Homicide responded to the scene where 23-year-old Farron Cooper was found shot.
34:15Learned that a man staying with the mother of Farron's children was shot and wounded after the two men had
34:20an argument.
34:21Heard from a confidential informant that the shooter was a man named Q-Blood, also known as Quentin Caldwell.
34:28And issued a warrant for Quentin's arrest, but had been unable to find him.
34:40Over the next several months...
34:42The lady called me and said she thinks she saw him.
34:45Homicide and the warrants squad continued to search for Quentin.
34:55And turned to the public for help.
34:57Tulsa police are still looking for the man they say shot and killed another man.
35:01If you have any idea where Caldwell could be, you can just call Crime Stoppers.
35:1118 months after Farron's death...
35:14When you went out there today, did you actually see, visually see Quentin?
35:18I saw...
35:20Yes, he looked just like Quentin.
35:23Farron's mother calls detectives.
35:25I seen him go into the building...
35:28The victim's mother saw the suspect.
35:32Right now, our warrant squad's setting up on an apartment where he may have went into.
35:49He's got the north hallway covered, correct?
35:51Yes.
35:54Hey, that's him in the living room, guys.
35:59Send Quentin out.
36:13I'll see you in the building.
36:15I'm out.
36:17I'm out.
36:17Where are you now?
36:18I'm out.
36:19I'm out.
36:21I'm out.
36:21I'm out.
36:22I'm out.
36:23I'm out.
36:23I'm out.
36:24I'm out.
36:25Anybody else at the top?
36:26Anybody else?
36:29Oh, have a seat, bro.
36:42Gatwood has jury trial in the morning where he's going to be testifying all day.
36:45So I'm going to go ahead and interview Quint and see if he's willing to tell us why all
36:49this happened.
36:52All right, Quint.
36:53It's cool if I call you Quint?
36:54All right.
36:55All right, man.
36:56Call me Vernon.
36:56I'm a detective here at the Tulsa Police Department Homicide Unit.
37:00So Quint, the reason you're here has to do with the murder of a guy named Farron Cooper.
37:06I'm going to give you the opportunity to tell you one side of the story.
37:12This is, brother, this is a scary situation, man.
37:18Okay.
37:19When Farron Cooper was killed, were you there?
37:23I didn't kill him.
37:25I didn't kill him.
37:25Then who did?
37:26I didn't kill him.
37:27Because this is...
37:29Right now you...
37:29Okay.
37:30When we pulled up in the truck...
37:31Mm-hmm.
37:48He says the man who had been staying at the house threatened Farron with a gun.
37:54He said he snatched the gun.
37:56Who did he snatch it from?
37:57He snatched it from me.
37:58Okay.
38:00And then once I finally got it back from him, I'm trying to leave.
38:04Trying to get back in the truck.
38:05Go sit down.
38:06Mm-hmm.
38:07I got hit over my head.
38:10We started tussling.
38:12Who were you tussling with?
38:13With...
38:14Farron?
38:15Yeah.
38:15Okay.
38:17He grabbed the gun.
38:18He had basically full possession.
38:22And then we just got to tussling and we both fell and I guess the gun went off.
38:26And they hit him like right here.
38:28Mm-hmm.
38:29I got up and I ran.
38:33I got scared and I ran.
38:35He was standing and looking at me.
38:38Okay.
38:39How many times did the gun go off?
38:40Just once.
38:41Just once.
38:44I believe that there was a little fight, a little, you know, scuffle.
38:49But the independent witness said you shot twice.
38:52Once in the leg.
38:54And then when Farron was on the ground, you shot him again.
38:58No.
38:59No.
38:59This gentleman said it was like an execution.
39:02This guy does not know you.
39:05I'm not no killer.
39:07I'm not that kind of person.
39:11It was self-defense.
39:13He grabbed him.
39:15He came after me.
39:17He came after me.
39:22No, dude.
39:23Look at me.
39:23Do I think you're some monster?
39:24No, dude.
39:25I think you made a terrible decision.
39:27I'm not saying you did.
39:30But man, what it boils down to is nobody, nobody there said you acted in self-defense.
39:38What?
39:46No.
39:47You'll be able to see your daughter.
39:51How many kids you have?
39:52Two daughters.
39:55You will have opportunities to still hold your babies and see your babies grow up.
40:03They'll know that they still have their dad.
40:11If Aaron's babies, they're never going to hug their dad again.
40:15He's not going to get them, watch them grow up.
40:20All right.
40:22Hang out here, man.
40:23They'll come and get you in a minute, all right?
40:37He's kind of trying to claim it was self-defense.
40:40And nobody out there said it was in self-defense.
40:43It's sad.
40:43I mean, when you bring a gun into a disturbance, it can go south.
40:48He didn't show a little bit of emotion, but it's sad that that's, that he put himself in this situation.
41:11And so it took a lot longer than what we wanted to, but it's nice to have that person off
41:16the streets.
41:25It's been over a year.
41:27It's his birthday.
41:30He was here.
41:31He even been like, Mom, give me the bounce house for my birthday, just so he could do this with
41:36the kids.
41:38He just loved his kids.
41:45I hate that the youngest one, he doesn't get the opportunity to even know him, see him.
41:51I was on the phone when it happened with the baby's mother who was there.
42:00Quentin had a brother who, um, he came and saw me after it happened.
42:04He talked for about two hours.
42:06He told me about the kind of person that Quentin is.
42:09And it hurt because I knew that if Quentin had met Farron under different circumstances,
42:15that they would have actually been friends.
42:24Farron was a good son.
42:25He loved me and we went through a lot together.
42:28So we had the friendship that I had with my son.
42:33You know, it can't be replaced.
42:35I never get it back.
42:36Thank you so much today.
42:48You
