The Happening (1967) is a satirical crime comedy where a retired gangster, Roc Delmonico (Anthony Quinn), is kidnapped by four beach-dwelling hippies. When his friends, wife, and mother refuse to pay the ransom, believing he is dead or unworthy, Roc takes over the kidnapping plot to extort $3 million from them himself.
