00:52Chris, when you think of the young talent, the future of this sport, the current generation
00:57of New Japan Pro Wrestling, you can name men like Red Noreta, men like Yugi Omora,
01:04Ryo Hayauewa,
01:05Moulton Ole, Kosin Mugina, every single one of those men has held either a championship
01:11or a trophy, one from a New Japan Tournament.
01:14Something which has eluded Shota Udo in every single stage of his career, but one man who
01:21managed to stop Konosuke Tsikesta en route to his first trophy victory in New Japan.
01:26It was Shota Udo, and it is to Kesta who's on a mission tonight to right
01:30the wrongs, to undo
01:32the pass of his G1 35 losses, starting with Udo tonight.
01:38Shota Udo did indeed be Konosuke Tsuikesta during the G1 Medinso
01:42in the longest league match
01:44of the entire campaign, and he's got about half the time to get the job done here tonight
01:50for that TV champion.
01:59Shota Udo has been a tough crowd for Shota Udo several times over the past of
02:11his career,
02:11but there is no doubt in my mind Walker, Umino is better than he has ever been, he
02:16has more
02:18onside with the fans than he has ever been, the momentum no doubt behind him, but it's
02:24not just momentum, it's pure pace that is the key in a matchup like this.
03:10guitar solo
03:40Thank you for watching.
03:42the Alpha Kanosuke Tekeshta is a man who has certainly had no problem whatsoever going the
03:48distance in the sport of professional wrestling
03:50many 30-minute matches, many 60-minute matches throughout Tekeshta's career across Japan and in
03:57the United States as well
03:58but when you cut that into half, when you cut that into a quarter, when your limit is to 15
04:03minutes on the clock
04:04well even Tekeshta has struggled a little bit to keep it within that distance
04:08we go back to those matches previously with El Phantasmo for the title, before he won it
04:13the Alpha Kanosuke Takeshta
04:19well I mean just to that same point, he didn't beat El Phantasmo in under 50 minutes
04:25to win the title
04:25you're right
04:26he asked for five more gave, and Phantasmo it to Shoto Umino saying in the
04:31press conference yesterday
04:32the results are the results, the rules are the rules
04:36I will not ask for five more minutes, I will get the job done in under 15
04:42oh and look, great moral support perhaps, on Japanese commentary, Yu Yuomura joining the game desk
04:48tag team partner of Shoto Umino over the last few months, both men have made it very
04:53clear they have
04:54focuses on singles endeavors and Shoto Umino comes here tonight, the NJPW World Television
05:00Championship
05:00will be on the line, one fall, 15 minute time limit
05:05and if you are joining us outside the spectrum of NJPW World on YouTube or any social
05:10media
05:10as a part of the World Television Title Stipulation, we thank you so much for joining us here
05:15on the evening
05:15yeah what a great way, and all of these matches being free, what a great way to sample New Japan
05:20Pro Wrestling
05:21Is Takeshta vs Shoto Umino?
05:24by the top of the hour, we will either be saying and you, or and still
05:40bell sounds, one fall, 15 minute time limit, and we are sprinting right out of the gates here
05:44for Kanosuke Takeshta and Shoto Umino
05:47it was August of 2025, live in Yokohama Budokan
05:51where Umino put down Takeshta in block B of G1 last year
05:5525 minutes, 46 seconds, nearly half that time allotted to potentially win this match up here tonight
06:01yeah but what happened after that result, Kanosuke Spencer went on to win the G1
06:07and then the last time we were here in Yugo Kusimo Hall
06:11he was winning the IWGP Heavyweight Championship
06:14something that Shoto Umino cannot say he has ever done
06:22let's talk a little bit about this 15 minute time limit
06:24it was Takeshta's first time ever challenging for the title
06:27Dontaku 2025, a 15 minute time limit draw with then champion El Phantasma
06:32we saw that same 15 minute draw back in Trenton, New Jersey
06:36to kick off the new year of 2026
06:38and it was only through, as you said before
06:41an extra few minutes on the clock
06:43that Takeshta would end up scoring victory
06:44I mean I think that points to the fact that Takeshta at points
06:48can't struggle to keep things concise inside the ring
06:51well Takeshta saying that he wants to really hold true to that vision of the TV Championship
06:56bring out the very best of his opponents within 15 minutes and beat them
07:00Shoto Umino has his own vision of potentially winning the title
07:04Shoto Umino saying wants to bring this back to what it was originally conceived as
07:09he just wants to wrestle against opponents under the age of 30
07:14and he wants to do it
07:16you know really in venues all the way around Japan
07:19in every small town that we visit
07:21Shoto Umino saying he would be perfectly willing to defend the title
07:25every single night on any tour in New Japan Pro Wrestling
07:29that's quite the antithesis to what Takeshta had to say about his potential challengers
07:33named men like Toki Makabe and Yuji Nakata
07:36I'd love to be honest
07:37I think both of those visions sound equally great
07:40and that's what makes these clashes of philosophy so exciting
07:44over a championship match in New Japan Pro Wrestling
07:47I think, well, that might be a loose tooth on Takeshta's part
07:57Valuable seconds being eaten up here
07:59Yeah, is this pushing the pace?
08:01Is this bringing the best out of your opponent in a 15 minute time frame?
08:05I think both men had the same idea right from the get go
08:08Sprint, sprint, sprint
08:10I think Takeshta derailing that plan for Shoto Umino here might
08:13cause a little bit of disorientation on the side of Umino
08:18We saw a message was delivered, ooh
08:21Wow
08:24And right into our timekeeper area here
08:27We know Shoto Umino likes to use that Lariat, Takeshta knows that very well
08:31Oh
08:37Couple of days ago, right in front of Shoto Umino's eyes, Takeshta really decimated
08:42Young Lion, Tetsuya Matsumoto out on the floor
08:45And that might be a deciding factor here in this one
08:50Not four minutes into this matchup
08:56Takeshta here
09:0235 days for Konosuke Takeshta
09:04One Defense in
09:06His first ever reign as world television champion in New Japan
09:11And Takeshta, I mean, I talked about pushing that 15 minute limit
09:14And let's keep in mind the stipulation here
09:1615 minutes would equal time limit draw
09:18That would equal second defense for Takeshta
09:20Umino has to beat Takeshta
09:22That does not work the other way around
09:23Yeah, exactly
09:26Oftentimes, you know, I mean in New Japan Pro Wrestling
09:28Unlike in American Pro Wrestling
09:30Titles do change hands on a DQ
09:32Or a count out
09:34But the time limit is where the champion's advantage is in effect
09:38But a man like Takeshta would take a draw as good as a loss
09:46There are a lot of times where I'd have to agree with you, Chris
09:48But right now, I'm starting to feel a little bit differently about Takeshta at this point
09:53Takeshta has really taken his time here on Shota Umino
09:56Now has that top wrist lock locked in
10:00And Takeshta gonna take things lateral with Shota Umino tonight
10:06Keep in mind, Chris, it wasn't Shota Umino that stepped up to Konosuke Takes
10:09hta
10:09It was Takeshta that issued the challenge as the champion
10:12I think that really changes the dynamic of a matchup like this
10:15I think Takeshta walked in with a
10:18You know, I mean, he had a little bit of insecurity
10:19In the back of his mind
10:21You know, I mean, insecurity coming off the loss to Shota Umino in the T1
10:25But also insecurity that came off as we mentioned
10:28You know, the fact that he knew
10:29He didn't beat LP in under 15 minutes to win the championship
10:33You know, and he knew that perhaps that was gonna be a slight upon him
10:39Takeshta wants to take on a very, very difficult, tough opponent in Shota Umino
10:45And he wants the victory
10:48And he wants to get that bell rung in under 10 minutes from there
10:53Takeshta, watch it, that shoulder driven directly into the blue corner
10:57That is really going to start to wear down Shota Umino over time
11:03And again, yeah, watch it to the other side
11:05Well, Umino blocked it though
11:07Umino is so prideful as a man
11:12He will continue, we've seen it before
11:14Swing with the same arm that his opponent has really worked over
11:19And you see that grimacing in pain here
11:21Watch it though, turn things around quickly
11:23DDT right on the line mark
11:27For Shota Umino here
11:30Yeah, but Shota's going to have to take this separation in this time to nurse that elbow
11:41That is the predominant strike throwing side for Shota Umino
11:45And if he's got to switch things up here to call himself champion for the first time in his
11:50test
11:50He might as well do it
11:51One, two, three, three, go
12:07Umino with the Fisherman suplex cover, two
12:10Ahhhh
12:29People starting to come for Shota Umino
12:32That's vindicating here for Umino
12:33But Umino's got to block that out right now
12:36And speaking of blocking, Tekeshta getting down and wide
12:40Going to try and lift and hoist Umino over out of this powerbomb predicament
12:45It's a large base on Konosuke Tekeshta
12:48Yeah
12:48And it is a long way down for Shota Umino here
12:54Both of these men need to regroup right now, Chris
12:56And that drop toehold is going to lead to such for Umino, watch it
12:59Watch this
12:59Keep things quick
13:01Again
13:01Spiked on the outside
13:05We talk about it all the time, Chris
13:07That double impact
13:08DDT, watch it again
13:09Watch it in slow motion
13:11DDT there
13:12And then the second impact on the outside
13:15Double whammy for Shota Umino, certainly
13:18You saw, I think Shota Umino is the biggest win he has had
13:22In the last few months over Zack Saber Jr.
13:25A fantastic quarterfinal matchup in the New Japan Cup
13:28And the key in that exchange was the DDT
13:31I think that Shota Umino really has become perhaps
13:34The preeminent master of the DDT in professional wrestling today
13:38And that DDT over the apron, every single variation
13:42Really going to move him closer to that TV Championship
13:49No, no, no, no
13:58Die
14:04Spine racks over the guardrail there
14:08Right wydaje, I love to mention that jaw obliterated by
14:11the book of Canals gate to catch time i'm approaching the halfway point in
14:19this 50 minute time limit oh and look at that

20:17Sickening, sickening impact.
20:20For Kunosuke to Keshita, it might be enough if Umino can just get on

20:50Tadaymura's matchup is a game for 15 minutes.
20:54Thank you!
21:09You know, I think the...
21:10Now, the title match is due to Kourosuke Takeshta's time-gire, the
21:16defense of Kourosuke Takeshta.
21:18The official announcement that that is a time-limit defense on the part of the champion, Kour
21:24osuke's against her will be furious.
21:26Furious!
21:27Furious!
21:29Reality comes to this, Chris.
21:31Kourosuke Takeshta will be satisfied with the fact that he's retained the title tonight.
21:37But he is not going to be satisfied with the result of how he retained this championship.
21:43Well,I mean,I think if the...as the world's eyes will turn to Death Vegas Invit
21:50international in a couple of weeks,
21:52I would say the Vegas odds in this one were on a time-limit draw between Kour
21:56Osuke Takeshta and Shilta Erminov.
21:58It is perhaps not a surprising result given how hard these two go and how long that they will go
22:05until we have a winner decided.
22:07But I think we need to have a winner between these two men.
22:12And if that means the TV Championship isn't part of the picture, and they can just go us all
22:18night if they have to,I think that's what we should do.
22:39So close, and so far, for Shota Ubedo tonight.
22:44You really have to feel for the roughneck here.
22:48Something tells me this is not the last time,Chris.
22:50We're gonna see Shota and Takeshita go zone to zone.
23:00It will be happening to you on Climax 36.
23:04Who knows?
23:05Now Arena tickets flying off the shelves.
23:10And so-And so-
23:13Wait a minute.
23:14That's a unique individual.
23:17Chris,we're talking about the same fright,that's-
23:20Well,I mean-Who is-Who is-Who is-
23:25That's some bizarre-I mean, that's even weirder than Jake Lee's mask earlier on
23:30tonight.
23:31He's a large colleague.
23:36What the-What the-What the-
23:38Hey Chase Owens.
23:39Chase Owens is here.
23:41Now what in the hell is Chase Owens doing right now?
23:44Well, remember Chase Owens gave up his shot to the TV Championship so that you could have a
23:50crack.
23:50What-
23:54We're well familiar with who Chase Owens is and what he can do.
23:57But now seat trigger from Owens.
24:02Who the hell is that?
24:03That weird individual is-
24:05Walking away to the back.
24:07No.
24:13Package Piledrivers show to him for the save here.
24:27I-I just can't wrap my head around this.
24:30It doesn't involve you.
24:31I could-Well yeah I mean I could-I understand what Chase Owens has done it for
24:35here.
24:36I understand he wants to cash down the world TV title but-
24:39Who is that guy was what I want to know.
24:48Do you think Chase Owens even knows who it was?
24:51I have no idea.
24:52This is-
24:52Certainly I mean that-
24:53Bizarre individual left as soon as Chase Owens took center stage here.
25:06For as much frustration as Schultz-Omino has to be feeling right now.
25:11You have to appreciate what he's just done.
25:14Save can also get to catch the problem here on this evening.
25:19Better luck next time one day in the near future for Schultz-Omino.
25:23That man will be a champion.
25:25But tonight belongs to the NJPW World Television title holder.
25:31Kunosuke Takesta walks away victorious.
25:46Wrestling fans we thank you so much for joining us all throughout this evening.
25:50I'm Walker Stewart sitting alongside Chris Charlton here tonight.
25:53It's time for our semi-native men of the evening.
25:56The Knockout Brothers versus TMDK.
25:59The IWGP Tag Team title is on the line.
