00:00How are countries like Pakistan and Bangladesh responding to these soaring fuel prices?
00:06And the reality is you're talking about these mini talks that are happening between countries,
00:12but what can South Asia do in the immediate term?
00:16Yeah, so I mean, the key here is diversification of how you import oil. So you need overland
00:21pipelines, which Pakistan actually does have. And you need to possibly tap into your strategic
00:27strategic petroleum reserve, although most countries do not have an abundance of reserve.
00:34Right. Another option is to try to get oil from places that are not the Strait of Hormuz
00:39through shipborne traffic. Right. So you can potentially, you know, if you're Bangladesh,
00:45get oil from India. Right. Actually, Bangladesh has already requested excess supplies from India,
00:51and they're now receiving that. Pakistan can't get oil from India because the two countries
00:56are longstanding enemies. Right. So that's not going to work. But potentially China could provide
01:03some additional oil to Pakistan. So there are ways in which to kind of work around the current situation.
