The production details behind Bentley’s most dynamic film ever - Supersports: FULL SEND, featuring Travis Pastrana - are revealed today, as the company clears the tyre smoke around the ambitious and ground-breaking project. A dedicated Behind-the-Scenes film released today shows how the film was shot over three days at Bentley, which included the first ever complete closure of the entire Bentley campus and a crew of over 100 people.

Supersports: FULL SEND was conceived in April last year, when the new Supersports provided the opportunity to create a totally new kind of film for Bentley. The first steps for the film – known internally as ‘Pymkhana’ (a gymkhana shot on Pyms Lane, the address of the factory) began with conversations with key internal departments at Bentley, which to the surprise of all those present, made it clear that the concept was indeed possible, with enough preparation. With the green light given by Bentley’s Board of Management, work started in Bentley’s R&D department to prepare a Supersports development vehicle to be as extreme as possible.

The electronic Limited Slip Differential was adjusted to provide early locking, and Electronic Stability Control was permanently disabled, and special software changes were written to allow both static and rolling burnouts. The key to success was the design and installation of a working hydraulic handbrake, integrated with the control system of the eight-speed double-clutch gearbox, which would allow the car to enter the tight corners of the factory road network sideways rather than relying on power-oversteer.

00:09Welcome to the most exciting film project we have ever undertaken at Bentley. This is
00:14Pym Karner, a Jim Karner film shot on Pym's Lane, the home of Bentley Motors. There are
00:19three things that make this film so exciting for us. Firstly, this, the most dynamic continental
00:25in our history, the Supersports. Secondly, our amazing Bentley campus here in Crewe. And
00:31third, our secret weapon, Travis Pastrana.
00:38Okay, so here we are. This is Travis's back cave. It's his base at Bentley. We've got a star
00:44car here and we're doing a lights-on sequence with all the lights illuminating
00:48the space. Loving it, we've got some absolutely amazing metal in here and it's
00:52such a joy to shoot it. Currently being overlooked by boardmen, actual
00:57Bentley board members in the corner there, so we're all on our best behavior.
01:05Just for me, seeing a handbrake in this car, I giggled like all night last night just
01:11thinking about that hydraulic handbrake. But it's got so much power and you don't need
01:15the handbrake too much, but it does help make it look a little cooler just at the end of the
01:19corners for sure. So it should be a should be an option on the on the car. I'm voting for
01:24that.
01:25The Krasma chip on everything, just the attention to detail. I mean Mildred written
01:30into the handbrake and the doors. Like I'm used to slamming doors and all the cars that I have.
01:34This door you just like gently close it and the Bentley just brings it in nice and tight.
01:38Everything's sealed off. It's the quietest car in the inside the car that I've ever driven that
01:43drives like a race car. Here we go. I guess we'll learn on the fly. Pretty cool car though.
02:01We're in. There you go guys. Come on people. First shot of the day, done.
02:15We got everything going. Having some fun. So warm these tires up and give her a good go on this
02:22one.
02:33Welcome to Bentley HQ. Behind us we've got our pre-war heritage fleet and we're going to be driving
02:40these guys down the road past Travis. And it's just a little nod to the history and heritage.
02:46Apparently beautiful.
02:58It's been interesting today trying to do things un-Bentley like and yet still make some good
03:05footage. So it's been, it's been a challenging first day. I think tomorrow we have 10 sets of tires.
03:1210 sets. Yeah. So I think, uh, we've gone through one set today. My mission is to go through nine
03:17tomorrow. So it should be, should be fun. Fun day. Okay. Here we are. Another amazing corner. We've just
03:22got our crew assembling now for a little safety briefing where we're going to talk through
03:26where Travis is going to be, where our camera crew can be, and how we can shoot it safely.
03:53next door in the warehouse next to us is a top-sequel car. Basically development,
04:00no phones, no photos. Cheers. Thank you. Thank you. It's like herding cats here. There's such a
04:06massive space. We're trying to lock it all down. They've got people everywhere. It's like literally
04:10the worst nightmare. If I can have one more donut run, that'd be great. But I'd say to him,
04:17go sparing. Should we go and do the exit shop first? No, I'll just, uh, yeah, yeah. Let's, let's do
04:23that.
04:23That's the key, isn't it?
04:30What I need to make the edit work is then coming out one more time here. Yeah. Cutting
04:35down and, and going through the closed door. Just do another one on the other side. Just do another one
04:40on the other side.
04:55Just do another one on the other side.
05:05The car was named Mildred. They all of a sudden were super pumped on everything.
05:09I want a picture of the car, and we're comparing pictures of this car sliding in our dog, and she
05:13can jump really high. So like, did you put Millie in the air? I was like, ah, we got, we
05:17got her a little
05:17off the ground. Definitely lightweight and nimble for the Bentley. A lot like Millie at home.
05:28So we've just done a bit of a slow-mo. We're doing playback, and it is unreal with these sparks.
05:44Love it, Travis. Well done, mate. Thanks, man. Appreciate it.
05:46Okay, so there we go. The cars are looking beautiful. Travis has done an amazing job.
05:52What a car. What a beautiful place. It's been amazing.
