00:06orange markings resembling the Corn Puffs,
00:09has come under scrutiny after the road resurfacing projects completed in 2025.
00:14The scheme, funded through grants, converted the street into a one-way road with additional public space, planters and benches
00:22aiming to enhance the area.
00:24Initial consultations had proposed a cream base with coloured markings, but the final result used black tarmac with markings that
00:32have faded significantly.
00:34Labour councillors leading the review said design changes were due to cost-cutting and errors by staff who have since
00:41left.
00:41Councillor Liz Gray, chair of the council's Environment and Transport Committee, stated that while trials can succeed or fail,
00:48the current orange markings do not match expectations and are widely criticised.
00:53She added that original cross-party support could allow the street to return to its intended appearance.
