00:00Previously on Project Runway.
00:02You will be creating a street world look that speaks
00:05to your brand as a designer.
00:07I just don't think, like, a cool girl would dress that way.
00:11I definitely respect Christian's opinions,
00:13but I think my look looks amazing.
00:16I've been on the bottom the last two challenges,
00:18and DJ keeps implying that I cannot do this without my brother.
00:22I have to prove to the judges that I am here to stay,
00:24that I am here for a reason.
00:26Girl, after last week, we both need to redeem ourselves.
00:29Seriously.
00:30You get a little in your feelings when the criticism comes.
00:33No, I'm taking it in.
00:35It does not feel good to get clocked once again by the law roach.
00:40Congratulations, Belania. You are the winner.
00:44Thank you, thank you.
00:46Yuchen, Joan, unfortunately, you were our least favorite looks.
00:50Joan, I just think that you made something that looks so old.
00:53She could go praise the Lord in this outfit.
00:55Yuchen, I am so mad at you over this look
00:58because you are a streetwear designer.
01:00I almost want to, like, jump out the chair and beat you up
01:02for making this look.
01:06A stake for the winner is $200,000,
01:09a spread in Elle magazine,
01:11and a life-changing mentorship with the CFDA.
01:15This is Project One Way.
01:22Joan, Yuchen, we made our decision.
01:26Joan, we asked you to take us to the streets, but you took us to the sanctuary.
01:32I'm feeling bad.
01:34My luck spoke to who I am as a designer,
01:37but maybe I should have listened to Christian and Jesus.
01:41Yuchen, this was your challenge to shine, but you could give us nothing new.
01:47I'm sorry.
01:48I feel so disappointed because streetwear is supposed to be my challenge.
01:53I feel like I disappointed everyone, especially Law.
01:56I'm sorry.
02:00Joan.
02:00Mm-hmm.
02:07I'm sorry you're out.
02:10Yuchen, that means you're in.
02:12You can leave the runway.
02:13Sure.
02:14Oh, no worries, sweetheart.
02:16Oh, no, it's okay.
02:20Sorry.
02:21You're so sweet.
02:23You're so sweet.
02:27Aw.
02:28Aw.
02:28Aw, the babies.
02:30I just wanted to say we all think that you're a great designer.
02:34And, you know, this was not your week.
02:36This was not your challenge.
02:37You will go back to your business.
02:39Yes.
02:39You dress amazing women.
02:41And I thank you guys for this opportunity.
02:43I am one of the older designers, you know.
02:46I'm 60.
02:47I'm fabulous.
02:48Yes.
02:48You are.
02:49You can definitely walk out of here with your head up high.
02:52Yes.
02:54I get to hear Auf Wiedersehen.
02:56Auf Wiedersehen.
02:58Mwah.
02:59Thank you, Heidi.
03:00All the best to you, Joan.
03:00It's been a pleasure.
03:02Bye.
03:02Bye, John.
03:03Bye.
03:04You better work for 60, Mama.
03:07Okay.
03:07Oh!
03:10She's coming from my job.
03:15I just feel so bad that Miss Joan is going home.
03:19I take it personally.
03:20I feel like Joan has to go home because of me.
03:22It's okay, baby.
03:23It's okay.
03:24Oh, Miss Joan.
03:26I'm going home.
03:27I'm going home.
03:28Stop it.
03:28No.
03:29What are you apologizing about?
03:31You are just starting your career.
03:33Oh, my lord.
03:35Yuchen, come on now.
03:36You have another opportunity to show them who you are.
03:40It's been a pleasure meeting all you guys and working with you.
03:46And you're so talented.
03:48I don't want to cry.
03:51Not my auntie.
03:53I love her.
03:55Miss Joan, you are the joy of the season.
04:00Saying bye to Miss Joan is one of the hardest things to do.
04:04She is one of those people that I connected in a deeper level.
04:09She's a very hardworking person.
04:10She's kind.
04:11And I'm going to miss her.
04:13It makes my heart full to even be in the room with you guys.
04:18Miss Joan, she's got that just love in her soul.
04:22And she's offered me a lot of love and a lot of safe space.
04:26And I'm going to miss my little safe space.
04:30Kristen.
04:31Joan.
04:32They said I took them to church, Christian.
04:34Not to the street.
04:36See, that's because you weren't there at Moves with me to stop me from buying that family.
04:42Call me anytime, okay?
04:44I sure will.
04:47Project Runway saved my life, y'all.
04:49Joan, Joan, Joan.
04:50I came in this competition to prove to myself that I deserve to be here, that I'm strong,
04:57and I'm proud of myself.
04:58Miss Joan, child.
05:01Mm, mm, mm.
05:02I left it all on the runway.
05:09Shine, shine, shine, shine.
05:14Flex with it.
05:15Flex with it.
05:15Don't get it.
05:16No limit, yeah, you know I never stop.
05:18It's six of us now, so the competition is getting steep.
05:23I must make it to the final five.
05:26Oh, God.
05:27Wow.
05:28Oh, my gosh.
05:28I could use a nice impression.
05:29Oh, my God.
05:30How do you feel?
05:32I feel okay.
05:32I feel like I didn't really get a win.
05:34Congratulations.
05:34And I'm like, uh, I don't really feel like it.
05:37Last challenge, Law said that Belana had an issue with her body language, which is being
05:42criticized.
05:42When you are being critiqued, your body language gets a little nasty.
05:48I was not doing that.
05:50Now you were.
05:51I agree with you, but I have to tell the foundation first.
05:55This is my creative process.
05:59This is my creative process.
06:00She's like...
06:05I don't know if that's what I was like.
06:07Is that how I look?
06:08Belana, I love you, girl, but we better work on the attitude, girl.
06:12Hey, don't, like, people tell me what to do.
06:16Are you guys ready for the next challenge?
06:19I'm the only one that hasn't won.
06:20I'm the only one who hasn't won.
06:23I was so close last week to take that win home, which means now I can just taste the
06:30win for this next week.
06:32So leaving this challenge, you're gonna win it.
06:39Let's see if he can do it without his brother's help.
06:42Let's go.
06:43Let's go.
06:44Let's go.
06:44Let's go.
06:44Go.
06:46Christian.
06:48Oh, Heidi.
06:49How are you feeling?
06:51Like I'm ready for some horsing around.
06:56Well, giddy up.
06:57Let's bring in those designers.
06:59Woo!
07:01Wow.
07:02Oh, my God.
07:03Bringing me back.
07:05Oh, my God.
07:05Oh, he needs to step stool.
07:07That's a big horse.
07:09Chiquito.
07:10This is gonna take a hot minute.
07:12Oh.
07:13Oops.
07:13I missed it.
07:15Ye to the ha.
07:16You really get your groin out there.
07:19Yeah.
07:20Yeah.
07:22Well, as you know, in fashion, one day you're in, and the next day you're out.
07:26What started out as 12 designers is now down to the dirty half dozen.
07:34For this next challenge, it's all about Western flair.
07:38Not only is pop culture obsessed with all things country, from Yellowstone to the Queen Bee herself, Cowboy Carter, but
07:45runways across the world are saddling up to fresh takes on classic country Western styles, fabrication, and design.
07:52So for this next challenge, you will be tapping into the zeitgeist and creating a look that is your take
08:00on Western chic.
08:02Western is one of the challenges that Antonio and I are so excited to have in the competition.
08:07I mean, I basically live with a cowboy.
08:09I love my cowboy hat.
08:11I love my cowboy boots.
08:12His closet, it's literally all Western.
08:15Chaps, like, leather jackets.
08:17This could be by wind.
08:18You have sunrise to sunset to complete your look.
08:22Half of us are gone.
08:24And now another one day challenge is going to decide the final five.
08:29The anxiety levels are ramping up, like...
08:33All right, good luck, designers.
08:35Christian, should we mosey?
08:38Thanks, divas.
08:39Mwah!
08:46Oh, God.
08:47This place.
08:48I'd love, like, a burgundy leather.
08:51I know that a lot of designers are going to the leather section because, yes, it's a Western chic fashion
08:57challenge.
08:58And to me, why would I go there if all of you are already going there?
09:04Next!
09:05You're doing...
09:06How is this Western?
09:08You'll see.
09:08Oh.
09:09Silent killer.
09:11Like, I just don't understand how vinyl can be Western.
09:14Sway, sway, sway, sway.
09:16This week, the pressure is on.
09:18I have to win a challenge.
09:21What am I going to do?
09:22So far in the competition, I've used a lot of color.
09:24I've used a lot of print.
09:25And I'm like, you know what?
09:26I'm going to shock everyone, and I'm going to do white.
09:29I can do a mini skirt with French.
09:30I can do my jacket crop with French.
09:33Cuanto vale esta?
09:34It was, like, calling me.
09:35I was like, ah!
09:38Okay, this is cool.
09:39I don't know too much about Western culture.
09:42Do you know what a lasso is?
09:44Lasso? No.
09:45This looks like Christmas.
09:47Do not get this.
09:49This challenge is very personal for me because Antonio and I are from Northern Mexico.
09:55When I was three, I remember coming into America in our cowboy boots.
10:00So for this look, I really want to lean into a Western indigenous vibe.
10:05It's in my roots, and it's in my DNA.
10:07And that's why I need to find the perfect fabric, because I have to deliver.
10:17All right!
10:21I love my fabric.
10:23Your fabric loves you.
10:26Guys, I'm putting the interfacing by the muslin, okay?
10:29Getting into the workroom, I automatically just go straight to cutting my fabric.
10:33Because I really want to figure out what I'm going to make for under this coat now.
10:38I got this beautiful leather, but I don't have much of it.
10:41So I have to be really careful in how I use this leather.
10:45And at this point, I have to make something so innovative and amazing to be able to win this challenge.
10:53Oh, .
10:57Clearly, you can interface on leather.
11:00What?
11:01Oh, .
11:03I just up my fabric.
11:05It burned it.
11:06Stop!
11:08Stop.
11:08Oh, no.
11:09Like, I don't know what to do.
11:10I'm freaking out.
11:11I have no backup.
11:12Holy shit.
11:16It burned it.
11:18Holy shit.
11:18I haven't really, like, messed up throughout this whole competition.
11:22And then this happens to me.
11:24I cannot believe I just did this.
11:27He interfaced almost all his fabrics for some reason.
11:31But leather already has a body.
11:34So, why would you interface a leather?
11:37Wait.
11:38That looks cool, though.
11:39Judas has a top.
11:41It could even be a dress, bitch.
11:43The burning on Jesus' leather is giving kind of an armpit.
11:48Kind of energy.
11:50Okay.
11:51I'm going to be honest with you.
11:52It looks like pit stains.
11:56Because of the coloring.
11:57Are you going to treat it of some sort?
12:00Mmm.
12:01Looks like boob sweat.
12:03Oh, .
12:05I trust Ethan's judgment, so am I screwed?
12:09At this point, there's nothing I can do.
12:11I just have to make it work.
12:13This is where we come from.
12:16Here we are.
12:17Hello.
12:18Hi, everybody.
12:19Ooh.
12:20Should we go here?
12:21I'm doing these front panels.
12:23I am making an evening wear leather gown.
12:27She literally is going to look like a python.
12:29We love, like, a little snake in the grass.
12:32I grew up on a farm, and...
12:33Did you really?
12:35You grew up on a farm?
12:36I grew up on country-western films, and I literally grew up on a farm.
12:41And these films surround themselves with powerful female energy.
12:46And I'm trying to pull that energy into my clothes.
12:49Yee-haw!
12:51I'm making a two-piece denim western-inspired set with a cotton button-down.
12:57Similar to what you just said.
12:59It's not.
12:59I promise it's not.
13:00It's gonna look totally different.
13:01All right.
13:02Are you feeling good?
13:03You won the last challenge.
13:04I feel like a disciplined child, though.
13:07What did Law say?
13:08My body language is disrespectful when I'm getting a fatigue.
13:11So I have to be sharp.
13:13After getting called out about my attitude last week,
13:16it's very, very important to me to show the judges that I'm listening.
13:19I need to leave it in the workroom and not bring it on stage.
13:26We're fringing?
13:27Yeah.
13:28You're gonna fringe this whole thing?
13:30For this challenge, I want it to be a little unexpected, but still western chic.
13:36Yes.
13:36I am making a futuristic vinyl fringe dress.
13:41How are you gonna do this?
13:43Hmm.
13:44That's a good cross shirt.
13:46I'm gonna do a leather jacket crop.
13:48It's gonna have a mini skirt that I'm gonna fringe.
13:51Don't you think that it's, like, kind of a little bit done?
13:56You sweat.
13:57It's just white leather jacket, a white leather skirt.
14:00So that's why I want the details to really stand out.
14:03I'm the only one that hasn't had a win.
14:04I've been in the top, but this close to winning.
14:07And I know that the techniques that I have in my brain can really take this look to the next
14:13level and win this challenge.
14:15What did you do?
14:16What is this?
14:17So it was a mistake.
14:18Oh.
14:18I tried to interface my leather and then burn.
14:21I think maybe the burning technique is kind of interesting.
14:26Maybe you do more to the skirt.
14:29Thank God.
14:31Work it hard.
14:31Work it hard.
14:32So I'm making this dress.
14:33Yeah.
14:34I wanted to make it all sequins.
14:36Mm-hmm.
14:36And I'm gonna have, like, you know, a little bit dripping on here.
14:39I can buy this at the mall right now.
14:41I just wanted to take this shining part of Western, like, you know, culture.
14:45I get it.
14:45Like a performance S.
14:47Like Dolly Parton.
14:48Do you know who that is?
14:49No.
14:50Oh, God.
14:53Are you all right?
14:54Need some water?
14:57I guess she's a very big country star.
15:00Yeah, she is.
15:02Here's my thing.
15:04You don't have to make a dress.
15:05You make jackets all the time.
15:07Why don't you make a cool jacket with fringe all over it?
15:10And you love the mini sexy skirt.
15:12And, like, why can't it be more you?
15:15I have to stick on dress.
15:17Fine. Goodbye.
15:18Good luck.
15:19Last challenge, the judges didn't like my pants and hoodie.
15:23So I'm doing something different than making a dress.
15:26I've made my decision.
15:28I just hope I have enough time.
15:30But I would make something on the dress, though.
15:32I'm just telling you.
15:33I'm warning you.
15:34Okay.
15:37You have to win this one.
15:38Everybody has one except me.
15:40Yeah.
15:41I've been close.
15:41I know you've been really close.
15:43How many times?
15:44I've been close two times.
15:45I was on the top twice.
15:46It's very exciting to see my brother winning challenges.
15:49But I came into this competition thinking I was going to do better than him.
15:54Wow.
15:55I'm sorry to think Jesus is my biggest competition.
16:01Designer, there's a new sheriff in town.
16:04And there's only going to be room for one twin in this competition.
16:09Who would it be?
16:10I'm sure, bitch.
16:11Who would it be?
16:12What is happening on here?
16:13Oh, my God.
16:15One of them has to go at some point.
16:17So, is it today?
16:18What?
16:19Oh, my Lord.
16:19Ah!
16:20I think that dealing with one twin is very challenging.
16:24And dealing with two twins is even more challenging.
16:26They should both go home.
16:30BJ can act bored all she wants, but she's going to wake up real quick when she's in the bottom.
16:40What is that wig for?
16:42It's a tumbleweave.
16:43Girl, that's a wig.
16:44That's why somebody wig.
16:45It's a tumbleweave.
16:46It's a tumbleweave.
16:47It's a tumbleweave.
16:48It's a tumbleweave.
16:48It's a tumbleweave.
16:49It's a tumbleweave.
16:50It's a tumbleweave.
16:51Oh, my Lord.
16:52It's not working.
16:54I feel really bad for Yushin because I think that he does not have a clue what Western is.
17:00I mean, he didn't know who Dolly Parton is, so if you don't know who Dolly Parton is, you do
17:04not know what Western is.
17:06I'm interested to see how he pumps that out.
17:08I don't understand why he's doing a gown and not something that's in his element.
17:13He's pushing himself.
17:15I have hit a wall.
17:17I feel stuck and I'm moving so slow.
17:20I am so thankful for my second chance, but I need to prove I belong here.
17:26Hello.
17:27Hey, Christian.
17:28Anybody want to ride on my pony?
17:30Yes.
17:31Yes.
17:32Do I put it in the front or in the back?
17:35Okay, give me my pony back.
17:38All right.
17:38Enough of the pony.
17:39Okay.
17:40Let's bring in your model.
17:42Pony.
17:45I don't know about the skirt.
17:47The top looks really cool.
17:48The skirt doesn't look cool yet.
17:49Can you, like, scrub?
17:51I am.
17:51I just ruined the fitting.
17:52Okay.
17:53Yeah.
17:53You burn it.
17:54I burn it.
17:55I love it.
17:56I mean, I think the whole look turned out so good.
17:59I cannot believe that this mistake might turn out to be the greatest mistake I've ever done in this competition.
18:06It's looking almost like a piece of bar.
18:08What about we have a lot of, like, fringe from the hat?
18:11To the floor like that?
18:13Yeah.
18:13I think you should make your dress more interesting first.
18:16More interesting.
18:17Or you can add a jacket because it's boring.
18:21But I don't know how to make the progress.
18:23Well, that's the challenge here.
18:26Okay.
18:27My friend.
18:28Mommy Christian is yelling at me.
18:30He want me to make a jacket, but I don't really have time.
18:33Since we already have the base dress, it's time for me to think about how am I going to make
18:37this more Western.
18:39Fun question.
18:39Do you think this hat wore this hat?
18:42I don't care about your stupid hat.
18:45I care about your dress.
18:47Hmm.
18:48What is your story?
18:50I don't have a story.
18:51No, but you have to give them something.
18:54If I had to go to a Western event, I would make this for myself and put it on.
18:58That's all I'm going to say.
19:00Yeah, Christian.
19:01That's my story.
19:01And I'm sticking to it.
19:03Does it get a shoulder pad?
19:05I think we can give you a shoulder pad.
19:08Doing this challenge, I know that I want to create something unexpected and out of the box.
19:13And what I'm doing, I think it's different, but it's a cool dress.
19:18BJ, you don't need any other accessories.
19:20Absolutely.
19:21You don't need any.
19:22No.
19:22Get that bag out of here.
19:24You have a classic fringe dress.
19:26BJ's very proud of her look.
19:28But girl, I feel like she's going to be in the bottom.
19:31I feel like she thinks she thought outside the box, but I don't think she did.
19:35I think she made her model look like a box.
19:37Keep it simple.
19:40All right, designers.
19:41That's it.
19:42That's time with your models.
19:43Thank you so much, ladies.
19:45Love you.
19:46Love you.
19:47Less than three hours to go.
19:49And then we're going home.
19:54How to make it interesting.
19:55How to make it interesting.
19:56Maybe give her an old time, like, saloon girls bustle.
20:01Nah.
20:01Or like a really cool neck scarf.
20:03Scarf.
20:04Girl, I'm throwing you ideas.
20:06You either pick them up and run with them, or you figure it out on your own.
20:10Okay.
20:11I think that Yuchen is scared of this challenge.
20:14It is both out of his culture, and he's been really shook up these last two challenges.
20:21Ugh.
20:22I'm so tired.
20:24Literally, I've been cutting the fringe for like eight hours.
20:27You have a two-day challenge.
20:28Yeah.
20:28For real.
20:29I am pushing myself to the point of exhaustion.
20:33I know it's risky, but I hope that the judges will see the work that I put in.
20:37And maybe if they don't love it, they'll give me some grace to keep me from going home.
20:43It's no time.
20:46One hour left, you guys.
20:49It's no time.
20:53Ethan's dress is similar to the dress that I made from the Boring Fabric Challenge.
20:59The judges don't like it when you show something that the other designers have already done.
21:04Jesus, I saw Ethan's dress, and it kind of reminded me of the gray dress that I made for Luz,
21:10right?
21:11Maybe it's unintentional, you know, but I mean, what do you think?
21:15Well, well, well, the bitch is staring the pot.
21:21I mean, I think it's very him.
21:23Yeah, it's definitely going to stand out.
21:25What do you think about yourself?
21:29Um...
21:31It's okay.
21:32I think it's important to be original.
21:34And if your work is referencing the work of your other competitors,
21:39then it means that you need to change that and you need to come up with something else.
21:43I don't want to cause drama, but I need to talk to Ethan.
21:48Okay.
21:49Are you going to be doing a lot of the crisscross detail?
21:52Mm-hmm.
21:53Because when I saw your dress, it kind of reminded me of the gray dress.
21:57Which one?
21:58The wool.
21:59His?
22:00No, my dress.
22:01Yours.
22:02What the ?
22:03It's not similar, but it's kind of like the same idea where it's kind of like, it has kind of
22:08like a cut out here.
22:10I think that Vijay is spewing bullshit.
22:13I don't agree that a full crocodile gown has anything to do with her wool mini dress.
22:21So when I saw it, I was like, I think I need to tell Ethan because the judges might call
22:25you out for that.
22:26Especially Nina.
22:27I was like, don't copy each other.
22:31No way in hell would I want to plagiarize your boring work.
22:34So buzz off.
22:42Today's the runway show and the pressure is on.
22:45We're so close to the top five and there's no room for mistakes.
22:50We'll see what happens on the runway.
22:55So who do you think is in trouble today?
22:58You.
22:59Me?
23:00Oh my God, why me?
23:01I don't know.
23:02I don't, I don't know what the judges are going to think.
23:03I know.
23:04It's very risky.
23:05It's risky for sure.
23:06I'm worried about Vijay.
23:07Well, I'm not really worried because I want her to be out of this competition.
23:10Model!
23:11Let's leave us.
23:14What's up, girlfriend?
23:17Hello.
23:18Hello.
23:18Hello.
23:18I'm Chris Cho.
23:19Oh my God, you look so sexy.
23:24Let's see what's going on around here.
23:26Do you think the front fits perfect?
23:29I had to take this whole panel, remove it from the inside and put it over top to alleviate the
23:35boob space.
23:36My I usually work with, they're all fake.
23:39They don't move.
23:40And then when I lift that up, that'll relieve the boob tension.
23:43So like real this whole competition has been like a journey.
23:49It looks cool.
23:52I mean, listen, I don't know what they're going to think because it's a wild card.
23:56Yeah.
23:56I just want you to be prepared.
23:58Oh, damn.
23:59I wanted to sell this before you came.
24:00Ah!
24:01The twins may live and breathe Western, but I'm coming off of a win and I finally know who I
24:06am.
24:06I'm not backing down.
24:07I'm coming for them.
24:08I just got to watch my body language.
24:10Antonio, please take off the glasses.
24:13I get it.
24:18So are you going to do the whole booby horn situation?
24:21Yeah.
24:23I decided to make this bullhorn because I got inspired by Tibet culture, which is kind of similar to Western
24:31culture.
24:32In Tibetan culture, they put all these decorations on the bullhorn.
24:36That means good luck.
24:38And I know the bullhorn is screaming in the Western world.
24:41I think they're going to like it.
24:42You're going to be very, very slay on the stage.
24:50It's something.
24:52Yeah.
24:52She's very horny.
24:58All right, models, you guys can go to the Ulta Beauty salon now.
25:02We are back.
25:04Howdy, cowgirl.
25:05I want her to have pixels, but I want it to be behind her ear.
25:08So if I were to go into an Ulta Beauty, do they provide makeup services?
25:12Every Ulta Beauty store has a salon.
25:15Now our professional stylists are trained to help you find your look, your vibe and your moment.
25:20So everything from makeup to skin care to hair care, we're here to make you feel and look amazing.
25:27Oh, that's very cool.
25:31All right, designers, that's it. That's time. Let's head to the runway.
25:38Hi.
25:40Howdy, Heidi.
25:42Hi, all.
25:43Hi, Heidi.
25:43Welcome to the runway.
25:45As you know, in fashion, one day you're in and the next day you're out.
25:48For this challenge, you had one day to create your take on Western chic.
25:53Let's meet our judges.
25:55CFDA award-winning stylist and image architect, Laura.
26:01And joining us, a country music star and the first African-American female to be nominated for a Grammy in
26:08the country music category, Mickey Guyton.
26:12Welcome.
26:13And executive vice president and creative director for Gap Inc. and chief creative officer of Old Navy, Zach Posen.
26:22Oh, my God. Zach Posen.
26:25I've seen that face on Project Runway so many times.
26:28This is not cute.
26:29He is very meticulous with craftsmanship, one of the best designers that I know.
26:34It's great to be back in the saddle here on Project Runway.
26:38No pun intended.
26:40All right, let's start the show.
26:42Let's start the show up.
26:47I nailed my look.
26:49It is Western and it's so chic.
26:52And this burn leather, what really was stressing me out, has turned into greatness.
26:57This burn is a technique that I would definitely do again.
27:01That is gorgeous.
27:03Like I'm ready for a country mega.
27:10As I see my look go down the runway, I'm excited. I'm proud of it.
27:15My eye goes directly to the denim and the tan leather and the sharp point cutouts look really cool.
27:23I like it a lot.
27:25This one just gives me chills.
27:27Mm-hmm.
27:27Like I'd wear that right now.
27:34I love this.
27:36I love seeing it just snake down the runway.
27:39It's like Roberto Belvalli from 10 years ago.
27:42I just wish it would fit better on the breasts.
27:44It feels really good to see what I have accomplished, the styling and the detail.
27:49And it's fun.
27:50It's a moment.
27:51And if there's anything I know how to do, it's a moment.
27:54It feels like taking me to a country award show, honey.
28:03I'm feeling so proud of myself, showcasing a piece that I put all my soul and intentions into it.
28:10What?
28:11That is stunning.
28:13I'm a fierce competitor.
28:14Don't underestimate me.
28:16Today is going to be tough.
28:17Mm-hmm.
28:18It's so good.
28:27My vision to create something unexpected and not the usual Western chic fashion is very risky.
28:35Looking at all the creations on the runway, mine is different.
28:40But I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the judges will appreciate that I'm a designer who takes risks.
28:46It's like Casey Caldwell for Prana.
28:48I don't understand that.
28:49You don't want to miss out.
28:54Woo!
28:55It will be hard.
28:58As Lyris is going down the runway, I feel so happy.
29:02She's totally rocked out.
29:04And she looks so fierce.
29:06I'm very happy with the outcome.
29:11All right now.
29:13Oh, no, she's going to sell a garment.
29:15She's definitely going to sell a garment.
29:17I can literally read Mrs. Law's face
29:20just by him rolling his eyes.
29:21I can see that some of these designers are in trouble,
29:24and I just hope I'm not one of them.
29:33Congratulations. That was quite the runway show.
29:35Thank you. Thank you.
29:36We scored your designs.
29:39Antonio.
29:41Jesus.
29:42Alania.
29:45You are our favorite designs this week.
29:52That means Ethan,
29:56Hugin,
29:57and Vijay.
29:58You had our least favorite designs today.
30:00You can leave the runway. Thank you.
30:08Gag.
30:09It's getting hotter.
30:11Mm-hmm.
30:12I'm really sad that the judges did not love what I made,
30:15and the rest did not pay off.
30:17But I think I made something bold,
30:19and I did not make something basic and literal like the other designers here.
30:24They definitely had the most accessible pieces out of everybody.
30:31Yeah.
30:32I'm just surprised to be in the bottle,
30:34because I know my look is really good,
30:37comparative to like some of these looks that are so like...
30:42There's gotta be another word for boring.
30:44Like, I just don't think they're interesting.
30:45Like, if I can just go and buy them off the rack,
30:47I don't think that is interesting to me.
30:50So...
30:54You will see.
30:55Okay, let's bring out your models.
30:57Yes.
30:57Ah, Barbies!
31:01Stunning.
31:02Thank you so much.
31:03All right, Antonio.
31:04Let's start with you.
31:05Yeah.
31:05It is so special.
31:07I mean, wow.
31:08And to do this in a day, and for that price...
31:10He kind of checked off the boxes for me.
31:12There's conchos.
31:13There's fringe.
31:14You're working with bow leather.
31:16And this band waistband.
31:18The top!
31:20The belt.
31:21The buckle was black, so I wrapped it in leather.
31:23Such a good idea.
31:24The braids.
31:25Risque.
31:26It gives it the fashion edge.
31:28It's stunning.
31:28I'm Latino, so I needed to sex it up a little bit.
31:31I think that this outfit is absolutely beautiful.
31:35Latinos in country music have a very beautiful love affair.
31:39Vaqueros.
31:40Yep.
31:40The conchos, everything.
31:41There's a huge Latino movement in country music.
31:44Yeah.
31:44And to see that and see that you representing that is absolutely beautiful.
31:49The styling is absolutely phenomenal.
31:52The hair choice, the makeup choice, really, really, really well done.
31:56Well, I think of you every time I style down.
31:59I mean, you should.
32:00I'm the best.
32:01I know.
32:04Okay, Balania, we're gonna talk to you next.
32:06When this came out, I knew exactly it was you, which is great.
32:09Because it's really showing us that you have a strong point of view.
32:12It's just absolutely stunning.
32:15Love the authenticity.
32:16Didn't feel like you were trying to interpret it as anything else but what it is.
32:20It was very genuine and honest.
32:21And I just thought the lines and everything were so beautiful.
32:24Just love it so much.
32:25You just did a great job.
32:26Thank you so much.
32:26The leather or suede material.
32:28Can't you just turn?
32:29Let's do it.
32:30It's great.
32:31I mean, just kind of complicated things happening here, right?
32:34Yes, it is.
32:34That are kind of working together.
32:36You're playing with different proportions, layering, volumes, transparency, graphic, and
32:42it kind of all works.
32:43I feel like you always find this way of putting things together that, in theory, don't really
32:50work in a way, but it totally works.
32:52And that makes it new again.
32:54So, I loved it.
32:56Jesus.
32:57Hello.
32:58It is stunning.
32:59From every angle, every detail, that coat is just singing, you know?
33:04And that it's see-through.
33:05And when she walked, it was so beautiful and all this fringe she put on there.
33:08The coat is really, really spectacular.
33:10I love going to vintage stores and this looks like it could have easily been from the 70s
33:15that someone wore that to Woodstock and just kept it in the most pristine condition.
33:19What is the top?
33:20Is it a print?
33:21Is it molded?
33:22So, creating this kind of like beautiful texture was a mistake.
33:26I like the mistake of it.
33:29Same.
33:30Same.
33:30That kind of spontaneity in design process is when the most interesting discoveries get
33:36found.
33:37Like, the mess that works.
33:38I thought that that was not a mistake.
33:40It's just so beautiful.
33:41Like, out the gate when I saw it, I loved it instantly.
33:44It's just amazing.
33:46Like, it was definitely one of my favorites.
33:47I mean, all of y'all are my favorites.
33:49That's why you are here.
33:53I have to say this was a tough one.
33:55Yes, it was.
33:55Very tough.
33:56Picking the winner here because, really, you guys all did a fantastic job.
34:01The winning look not only felt true to country roots, it pushed the envelope of what Western
34:06chic looks like.
34:09Congratulations.
34:10This could be my win.
34:11My first win.
34:12Finally.
34:17Jesus, you are the winner.
34:19Ah!
34:23Share this with you.
34:25You guys are so cute.
34:28This looks for us.
34:29Love.
34:30Thank you so much.
34:32Jesus wins.
34:35At this point, I am frustrated because I am the cowboy.
34:39And Jesus is not the cowboy.
34:41And I wanted my first win, finally.
34:43Jesus!
34:44Congratulations.
34:45You can leave the runway.
34:48This was a tough win.
34:50You know, I really wanted Antonio to take the win.
34:53I won.
34:54Yeah.
34:55I mean, I really thought he was going to win.
34:57I mean, your win is his win too.
35:00I know.
35:00Here we go again.
35:01Jesus won another challenge.
35:03And I'm pretty sure that it's going to make him really,
35:08really cocky.
35:08Wow!
35:09I'm so relieved I made it to the top five.
35:12And I'm just climbing to the top.
35:14But VJ, girl, I think your time might be over soon.
35:23Ethan, VJ, and Eugene, you created our least favorite designs.
35:29All right, let's bring out your models.
35:36Ethan, let's start with you.
35:37Tell us about your look.
35:39I created my own evening wear, avant-garde, snake in the grass.
35:44When it first came out, I kind of felt like I had seen this.
35:46However, seeing it in front of me right now, it's impeccably made.
35:50I thought the dress really is stunning.
35:53I think it was the ties that threw me off personally.
35:56I don't know if that's dark brown or black, but had it been something more in the tone of the
36:01skins, that would have elevated it a little bit more and made it look even more expensive.
36:06And there's something to me that's going on with the booth that's not quite flattering.
36:12It's too narrow.
36:12That's what pushed you out of the top three.
36:15The styling is really good.
36:16I love the cowboy hat.
36:17I love the drama with the tail.
36:19And it does feel country, right?
36:20Yes, it absolutely does.
36:21You missed the top three by just a few points.
36:23It's a showstopper.
36:25Mm-hmm.
36:25I'm not mad at it.
36:27VJC, the judges know that my work is not like your work.
36:32Okay, Hugh Chin, can you tell us about your look?
36:34I want to bring this excitement on the runway.
36:37You know, a little drama, and when she's walking on the runway, that's like...
36:39Like a nipple tussle.
36:40Right.
36:41So it's all about the excitement.
36:43What I'm looking for in this country-western fashion is the authenticity.
36:47And I just don't think that that was executed in this.
36:51I don't understand how you are a streetwear designer and you gave us an evening dress.
36:59And a really bad evening dress.
37:01I don't think it fit her that well.
37:03If you're going to play with the satire, and if it's going to be something that's about, like, horny disco,
37:09nasty couture,
37:10then it has to be, like, weirder and stranger and more perverse.
37:14Thank you, Zach.
37:15I feel like you just went for something so nutty that I'm like, did you think this was a winning
37:21look?
37:22The taste level here is beyond.
37:26Beyond.
37:27Beyond good or beyond bad?
37:28Beyond bad.
37:29Yeah, okay.
37:30We hate the dress.
37:31We hate the dress.
37:33We hate the dress.
37:34We hate the dress.
37:35Okay, Vijay, let's hear about your look.
37:37For this particular challenge, it was really intentional to kind of, like, go on a different direction.
37:43What is it going to be in the future to see what Western fashion is?
37:48So let's start with the good.
37:49The good thing about you is that you know a woman's body.
37:52Mm-hmm.
37:53The way you cut that curve to make her waist look small in the exact place it should and using
37:59that nude material was brilliant.
38:02Everything else is such a mismatch and so confusing.
38:07Yeah, this was a miss for me.
38:09This looked like a Project Runway nightmare.
38:11It didn't make sense to me.
38:13Western chic, I'm just not getting that here.
38:16Vinyl doesn't say modernity to me or futurism.
38:19Mm-hmm.
38:19It's kind of post-modern.
38:20You know, it's like it's been there.
38:21We've been there since the 60s.
38:23We asked for country chic.
38:25You gave us country shit, and I'm not going to hold that back.
38:28I think you were trying to like try something different, and the things that like trust your gut, it's always
38:35100% correct.
38:36Thank you for all the feedback.
38:38Of course.
38:39Both twins are in the top, and I'm in the bottom.
38:43This is embarrassing.
38:44And now I might go home.
38:47This cannot be my ending.
38:49We have a lot to discuss.
38:50And sadly, one of you will be out.
38:53You can all leave the runway.
38:54Thank you so much.
38:58Well, it's really now between Vijay and Yuchen because Ethan is safe.
39:04He was our number four today, right?
39:07He made tiny mistakes.
39:08Yeah.
39:09That kept him out of the top three.
39:11Yuchen going for two horns on the breasts and like bedazzling her from head to toe.
39:17Not even enough.
39:18Plastic fringe from head to toe.
39:19There wasn't enough bedazzle for me to make it that weird.
39:22It's like not the moment.
39:23No.
39:25Last challenge, I was on the bottom.
39:26It took some confidence away from me.
39:28I've been questioning myself.
39:30If I got the chance to stay in the competition, I have to be able to shake that off.
39:35Hopefully, they give me that chance.
39:37There was absolutely nothing redeeming about it.
39:40Nothing.
39:40The accessories, the necklace.
39:42Terrible.
39:43And then he just bedazzled it everywhere, put the necklace on the hat.
39:45I have that hat from Etsy, by the way.
39:47I know you do.
39:48I do.
39:48I saw you.
39:49Everybody who went to Beyonce's tour had that hat on.
39:51They did.
39:53He lost his confidence though.
39:55We've all lost our confidence before.
39:57But this is like lost the plot.
40:00Vijay, I mean, she brought something that didn't feel chic at all.
40:03And the key to good Western, it has to be authentic.
40:07Anytime that it's anything else, it seems like it's making fun of what Western culture is.
40:12It looked like a really bad costume party.
40:14It really did.
40:15I hate it.
40:16You would never wear that.
40:17No.
40:18Right.
40:19This is recycled fashion and it should be recycled.
40:22All right.
40:23Let's bring them back out.
40:24See you later.
40:25Bye.
40:26Ah.
40:31Yujin, Vijay, and Ethan, we've made our decision.
40:37I don't think I'm nervous for myself.
40:40However, it's a tight game between Vijay and Yujin.
40:44And Yujin, he's been a really good friend in this competition.
40:48So I want Vijay to go home.
40:53Ethan, you're safe.
40:54You can leave the runway.
40:56Thank you all so much.
41:02Yujin, Vijay, one of you will be in and one of you will be out.
41:07I know my confidence has been shaken, but I just hope the judges decide to keep me in the competition.
41:14I'm scared.
41:15I did everything that I can to stand out in this competition.
41:19I've waited for this opportunity for so long and I can't go home yet.
41:27Next time on Project Runway, you will be making a look for women and men who struggle with eczema.
41:34Where do you want to get married?
41:35Mexico, for sure.
41:36Are we on a date right now?
41:37I just can't do friends.
41:39Everything Jule is saying might send me home.
41:41I think that sweater is giving me nightmares.
41:43I'm trying to be quiet because you know people, they try to save my ideas.
41:46You really just didn't listen to him.
41:48It's Kate Middleton in 2006, drunk in the back of a cab.
41:51She just looked frumpy.
41:52I did not like this at all.
41:54What's the biggest sin?
41:55A sloppy toppy or a mid-smatch mess?
