00:01Previously on Project Longway.
00:03Oh, my God!
00:04She's a designer, a model, and a black queen.
00:08Ethan and Jesus, each of you are going to become the leaders of your own house.
00:13I always wanted to start my own house.
00:15It's going to be a battle.
00:18Jesus, you were our favorite house!
00:23Joan, Angelo, and Chutica, you created our least favorite looks.
00:27It's a very confusing design.
00:30So busy in all the wrong places.
00:32I'm sorry, Ethan should have been here and not Utica tonight, babe.
00:35I am really pissed off about this collection.
00:37They could all go home, honestly.
00:39I was in the top. I was killing it.
00:42And now, I'm just hoping they don't go home.
00:46A stake for the winner is $200,000, a spread in Elle magazine,
00:51and a life-changing mentorship with the CFDA.
00:55This is Project Runway.
01:04To be in the bottom is shocking.
01:06So, I question my leadership, but I am not ready to go home.
01:12I feel like my vision and my expertise in this world of fashion needs to be seen.
01:18I'm really disappointed.
01:20It feels like shit, but I don't think my look was the worst look.
01:25It sucks, but it is what it is.
01:27Designers!
01:28Job as you're ready!
01:29Oh, come on, y'all.
01:31Under the leadership of Ethan, I kind of just made the design to be a team player,
01:37so it really wasn't what I wanted to design.
01:40I'm very annoyed.
01:41You know, you never know.
01:43Maybe this is where I get eliminated.
01:51Angelo, Joan, Utica, you created our least favorite looks.
01:58We made our decision.
02:01Joan, you're safe.
02:03You can leave the runway.
02:07Thank you, God.
02:12Angela, your construction was bad, but your confidence was even worse.
02:19Utica, you failed as a leader, and you look disappointed as even more.
02:25One of you will be in, and one of you will be out.
02:36Angelo?
02:41I'm sorry you're out.
02:43Thank you, guys.
02:47Thank you very much.
02:48I'll see you guys in.
02:51Thank you, guys.
02:52I appreciate it.
02:53You can leave the runway.
02:59Utica, I just want you to know that this was not unanimous.
03:03If it was just my vote, you would get my offidas in today.
03:09I'm flabbergasted.
03:10I almost went home.
03:11Utica is my armor, and to have this feedback that I need to leave her at home to create beautiful
03:20work and let Ethan shine is a really tough pill to swallow, and it sucks.
03:27I'm out.
03:28No!
03:29I agree that it wasn't my best work.
03:32I disagree with the decision they made, but I guess they just didn't see the vision,
03:37or they didn't think that I could push myself more.
03:41Angelo, I think you're incredible.
03:42I think you have a lot to do in this business.
03:46So good luck.
03:46Appreciate that.
03:47I'm going to send you to the workroom and clean up your space.
03:49Say goodbye to everybody.
03:50Peace out.
03:51Bye.
03:52I gave it my all through all three challenges.
03:55Bye, baby!
03:57I'm actually really, really proud of myself for trying new things and not being scared
04:01to push certain boundaries, but I'm definitely leaning back once I get home to what I do best,
04:07which is menswear.
04:12Blania, congratulations.
04:13Congrats.
04:15Well deserved.
04:16Getting a win is definitely some gas in the tank to keep you going.
04:21And it's like, okay, I'm doing something right.
04:23Let's keep going in this direction.
04:25Ethan, it was close.
04:26It was very close.
04:28Tasting almost going home is definitely going to light a fire under my ass.
04:33My padded ass.
04:35But the house are no more.
04:39I'm so excited that I can finally just, you know, focus on me and my design and I don't
04:45have to focus on like helping other designers like dealing with Vijay because girl, she's
04:50a bitch.
04:51Oh my gosh.
04:52Your first solo challenge is gonna start sooner than you think.
04:58All these twists.
04:59Christian, I don't need another one.
05:01Oh, my God!
05:04I have a...
05:05It smells of happy and sad tears in here.
05:12All right.
05:13Well, for your first solo challenge,
05:16Law's gonna take you guys on a field trip.
05:19What could go wrong?
05:21Good luck!
05:22So I need you all to just follow me.
05:28No, this is cool.
05:31Wow!
05:32That was a science fair!
05:35Abbott Elementary!
05:37Abbott!
05:37Oh!
05:39Not Abbott Elementary up in here, Joe.
05:42They have everything.
05:43Yes!
05:44As you can see, we have two people here
05:46from the biggest show on the planet,
05:49Abbott Elementary.
05:51Chris Perfetti and Lisa Ann Walter.
05:54We are kind of a big deal, I'm not gonna lie.
05:57So as some of you may know,
05:59Lisa and I play teachers.
06:00And we have been known to get into a fair bit of mischief
06:04on our show.
06:05Oh, did someone say fair?
06:09Because as you may notice, we are here
06:12after the school science fair,
06:14and it will be your job to provide the mischief.
06:17Designers, this is the Unconventional Materials Challenge.
06:22Woo!
06:23Woo!
06:24I knew it!
06:25I knew it!
06:26This is the end-all, be-all of Project Run,
06:30where you know every season is gonna be
06:32an unconventional challenge.
06:34So I'm like, here we go.
06:36Oh, I'm excited on RuPaul's Drag Race.
06:38I created this piece out of sleeping bags.
06:42That's the piece that put me on the map.
06:44That was all unconventional materials.
06:46So I feel like I can redeem myself from last week.
06:50Everything you see here is fair game
06:53to be used as materials.
06:55So everything from the science fair projects,
06:58to the craft table, to the sports equipment,
07:01to this banner up above you,
07:03can all be used in your work.
07:05This is a one-day challenge.
07:07You'll start work tomorrow.
07:09And designers, we do not want to see a bunch of junk
07:13hot glued to some fabric.
07:15We want to see something exciting, innovative, and creative.
07:18You have exactly 20 minutes to gather your materials
07:21for your unconventional look.
07:24Designers, ready, set, go!
07:29Go, go!
07:33I got a bunch of slinkies.
07:36This is the Joseph McCray pile.
07:39Do not touch it.
07:40I dare you.
07:41There's so much stuff, and I'm just like a kid,
07:43and candy stuff just grabbing stuff.
07:46This is like my thing.
07:48I use a lot of upholstery fabrics
07:50and different kind of, like, plastics.
07:52So everything that I create
07:54is made out of an unconventional material.
07:57Ah!
07:58Joseph is grabbing everything in the kitchen.
08:00Sink.
08:01This is mine.
08:02And it's chaos around this gymnasium.
08:05This is so fun.
08:06Isn't it great to not be at work right now?
08:08Oh, my God, I'm nauseous.
08:09Please stop.
08:10OK.
08:12I really don't like to be rushed.
08:15This is really out of my element,
08:17and it's out of my zone of creativity.
08:20I'm trying so hard to grasp onto anything.
08:23This is not how I work.
08:2610 minutes!
08:27This is mine.
08:29Those are my balls.
08:30I already have my eye on what I want to create and make.
08:33I can make something really cool and structured
08:35with the material of the volleyball.
08:37I'm like, oh, my God, what materials I'm going to use?
08:40And I see this volleyball.
08:42Like, I kind of want to use it.
08:44Hey, hey, hey, hey, what are you doing?
08:46The fight's breaking out.
08:47Fight!
08:48Fight!
08:48This is all mine.
08:50I think BJ's a little troublemaker sometimes.
08:53She clearly had to know that that was my bag.
08:56So what are you doing?
08:57Get the balls.
08:58Get another bag, BJ.
08:59I'll get another bag.
09:0210 seconds.
09:03Is there anything left in this room?
09:06Anything at all that you want?
09:08You want the net?
09:08Yeah, I want those two nets.
09:10Five, four, three, two, one!
09:14Woo!
09:16I'm taking this, babe.
09:19We said anything.
09:21Designers, we have no idea what you're going to make
09:24out of this stuff, but we can't wait to see.
09:26Good luck.
09:27Thank you so much.
09:29Thank you so much.
09:30Ooh, child.
09:31I am so exhausted.
09:33There you go, baby.
09:33I got you.
09:34Just wheel me on out of here, because I'm done.
09:47I think this challenge is all about expressing who we are, challenging ourselves.
09:53No more helping, because this is not a group challenge anymore.
10:00So no more helping your brother.
10:03I can't wait to see if the twins can handle an individual challenge.
10:08But I don't think it matters, because whatever they do, they're going to be working together
10:12as one.
10:15Here we go again.
10:17Miss VJ just, you know, stirring the pot.
10:20Stop trying to make drama.
10:25Honestly, I can't wait to see what I actually got.
10:28What's she got going on over there?
10:29Who the hell knows?
10:31Who the hell knows?
10:34Bitch.
10:35It's over.
10:36I know what I'm going to make already.
10:38I'm really excited that I get to do the unconventional challenge.
10:41I'm making, like, leather bandit dress out of volleyball.
10:45To me, that's unconventional.
10:47I'm looking forward to, like, tapping into my creative juices.
10:51I think this challenge could give me another win.
10:53I'm so proud.
10:55I think we're going to kill it.
10:57I came into this competition to make it to the end.
11:00I do have my twin brother, and we always work as a team.
11:05But now it's like you're on your own.
11:07I have to prove myself to these judges to keep rising to the top and get that win that I'm
11:13waiting for.
11:13The last thing I want is to, like, end up in the bottom.
11:15Yeah, I don't think that's going to happen.
11:17What do you think?
11:18I should do red?
11:19I like the pink.
11:20Like Barbie?
11:21Barbie.
11:22Okay, she's Barbie.
11:23But the pink bitch, done.
11:25I don't think it's fair that the twins are always working together because it's an individual challenge.
11:31And then I'll cover this in the pink?
11:33Yeah.
11:33That is sick.
11:34Yeah.
11:34I already know what you guys can do together.
11:37I've seen it three times already.
11:40It's really a struggle, two separate twins.
11:43So at the end of the day, one of them needs to go home.
11:47Lucky charm.
11:59Everyone is so excited for the unconventional challenge every season.
12:03They say, no way.
12:05It's horrible.
12:06I'm losing it.
12:08These soccer balls are bringing us back to school.
12:11Yeah.
12:12I'm making this soccer ball top and miniskirt.
12:14It's going to be so cool and so sexy.
12:17You know, my whole life is with fashion.
12:20So when I was young, like, you know, in my childhood, I got abused for many years.
12:26Oh.
12:27And after that, I'm being like, you know, a boy who is very shy.
12:31I can't even look at people's eyes when I'm talking to people.
12:34But you know, when my high school is coming, Lady Gaga came out.
12:38Yeah.
12:38She's so inspiring.
12:40He's the boom boom gunny.
12:41I was dead.
12:43Yeah.
12:43From there, I get into this whole new world of music and fashion.
12:49You know, I feel empowered.
12:52Because of my childhood, I realized whatever I've been through, no matter it's good or bad.
12:58This is why I am who I am as a designer.
13:02And I can spread my message to the world.
13:09I have an idea.
13:10So you do a bomber that's, like, pokey.
13:12Or I was thinking about sewing it like this and attach the whole jacket in the corner so
13:17I have pickable skin and the liquids underneath.
13:19It's annoying that the twins share the workload.
13:22But, girl, they've been together since birth.
13:25So it's going to take a lot of work to separate them now.
13:28But we'll see if we can get them more.
13:31Bubble wrap or tissue?
13:32I don't think that me and Antonio have an advantage in this competition, to be honest.
13:37Honestly, exactly what we do with, like, helping each other and bouncing ideas to each other,
13:42we have been doing with every other designer in this competition.
13:46Girl.
13:46Girl.
13:48Look at here, Miss Jung.
13:49Huh?
13:50You like this?
13:51You got a big ol' booty, huh?
13:53Good, right?
13:54Well, I don't understand what's going on.
13:56The bigger, the better.
13:58Well, well, well.
14:02Hello.
14:04Can't wait to see how you guys measure up.
14:07Yeah.
14:08For your unconventional materials challenge.
14:11All right, I'm gonna walk around.
14:14It's a shot of cocks.
14:15A what?
14:16Shutter cock.
14:17Is that how you call it?
14:18Shutter or shuttle cock?
14:20For the badminton, like when you play badminton.
14:22I know you're badminton.
14:23I love playing with shuttle cocks.
14:25But never did I know that I will use shuttle cock for Project Runway.
14:29So I cut it.
14:30You cut it?
14:31And then...
14:32Oh, beautiful.
14:33They look like lace.
14:34I mean, they're really pretty.
14:35So all over?
14:37Most likely.
14:38That's why I want to make sure that I have something that it will hold on to.
14:42Yeah.
14:43This could be very beautiful because you'll have no idea what it is.
14:46No.
14:46Which I love.
14:47Yeah.
14:48What was school like for you younger?
14:49It's really good.
14:51It was what?
14:51It's really good.
14:52I'm getting emotional because I had a good childhood.
14:55You had a great childhood.
14:55Yeah, so this is Tears of Joy.
14:57Growing up as a gay guy, like a trans kid, like my parents supported me.
15:03Amazing.
15:03Yeah, they loved me.
15:04So yeah.
15:05Well, that's good.
15:05Yeah.
15:06I grew up in Manila, Philippines.
15:09And if you're a trans woman living in the Philippines, you're not safe.
15:13But my parents embraced my uniqueness.
15:16So I grew up with love.
15:18And now I want to be the first trans person to win Project Runway.
15:24Ethan, didn't you just do this strip-seamed thing?
15:29Hmm.
15:30It didn't work.
15:31I got my hands on these really cool butterflies.
15:34It's going to be very referential to Alexander McQueen and just give a beautiful shape.
15:40I really want this to be good because I have a lot to prove, especially from this flopitina of this
15:46last week.
15:47This is your challenge.
15:48You make amazing, incredible things.
15:50You've got to be so innovative here.
15:52Like, this is looking beautiful.
15:54I love it.
15:55But like, the whole thing has to be that.
15:57Like, go in your archives.
15:59Like, you know what?
15:59I made that amazing dress for whatever.
16:01Let's do something like that.
16:03Yeah.
16:03And they don't have that.
16:04Because I need some cool shit.
16:06You have so much cool shit.
16:09Christian drives me up a wall sometimes.
16:12Let's go.
16:13Not there.
16:14I, of course, take it with grace.
16:16But in my head, I'm like, I don't know.
16:22Joan, that glitter paper and popsicle sticks.
16:25Are you serious?
16:26Joan, I swear to God, if you make a popsicle dress.
16:30Underneath is the corset.
16:31It's going to be like a Josephine paper.
16:34I get it.
16:35Inspiration type.
16:37So this is the corset there in the middle.
16:39Mm-hmm.
16:40And then I was able to curl the popsicle sticks to kind of make it set away.
16:47Oh, I think you should cut them and zigzag them or weave them or fold them.
16:52I really think they need to see who Joan is.
16:55Mm-hmm.
16:55Like, make it feel glamorous and beautiful.
16:57And like, they got popsicle sticks.
16:59So how are you going to do that?
17:00Mm-hmm.
17:01I hear Christian.
17:02I need to find a way to incorporate my style and personality into the popsicle sticks.
17:08So I'm going to spray paint the entire garment black.
17:11And I want it to almost look like a leather corset.
17:14Were you good in high school?
17:16Yeah, I was good.
17:17You were good in high school?
17:18Mm-hmm.
17:18I was a cheerleader.
17:19Oh, you were a cheerleader?
17:20Yes.
17:21I was captain of the cheerleading squad.
17:22You were captain?
17:23Yes.
17:28Wow, Joan.
17:29I'm learning a lot.
17:31Get to the next level.
17:33Hey.
17:33Hey.
17:33Hey.
17:34Hmm.
17:38What are you doing over here?
17:40What is this material?
17:42Vinyl from the gym mats.
17:44And I'm repurposing it as a raincoat.
17:47You can't make a vinyl raincoat.
17:50Like, no way.
17:51That already exists in the world.
17:53It's not innovative.
17:54It's not unconventional at all.
17:56Each challenge, I feel like I'm getting closer and stronger to understanding myself as a designer.
18:01But now that he totally took a poop on my idea, I have to throw it out.
18:06Okay.
18:07Nope.
18:07No raincoat.
18:08I'm gonna make a romper and just keep it going with a romper.
18:11Okay.
18:11That's gonna look good.
18:13Ah!
18:15What are you doing?
18:16The inspiration is I want to do a coat with the hood.
18:19Uh-huh.
18:19And then...
18:20So the whole coat is gonna be in these flag pieces.
18:24Yes.
18:24I'm making an oversized bomber jacket out of these flags stuffed with tissue with a vinyl bubble cocktail dress.
18:31You've got to make this coat amazing because it's kind of your moment.
18:37Yeah.
18:37And then with the dress, I just don't think it should be so sheer everywhere.
18:42All right.
18:42You have a lot to make.
18:43I'm excited.
18:45I am an amazing designer and stylist on my own.
18:48This design is gonna improve without my brother.
18:51I am a strong competitor.
18:52This is deeply out of my comfort zone.
18:54Deeply.
18:54Yes.
18:55You're not an unconventional girl.
18:56No.
18:57I'm struggling.
18:57Have you done anything like this ever?
18:59All right.
19:00Think about your clothes.
19:01I like that they're kind of mod.
19:03They're a little 60s.
19:04They've got that kind of vibe.
19:05Mm-hmm.
19:05So why don't you play into this hard, futuristic-y, mod, weird, quirky, cool.
19:13Like, why can't it be that?
19:14Yeah.
19:15Don't lose, team.
19:15You're doing awesome.
19:17They love what you make.
19:18I'm just really worried about what I'm gonna do.
19:21I'm in trouble.
19:24This is the banner from the science fair.
19:26I had this idea of doing, like, a jersey dress.
19:28Mm-hmm.
19:30Oh, so this is the shape, kind of like a kimono-y.
19:34Yes.
19:34Me having a degree in electrical engineering.
19:36This is the perfect opportunity for me to merge my fashion and my technical background.
19:41So I'm using the science fair banner as the base of my garment.
19:45Electrical wires for the lace-up back.
19:48So it's giving this whole, like, cross between technology and fashion.
19:53Already your clothes and your shapes are fabulous.
19:56Mm-hmm.
19:57They already know you can do that.
19:58So maybe you should push the innovation.
20:00There's nothing to say, honestly, about Joseph's look.
20:05You see a square and a circle.
20:08I think he's afraid to take risks.
20:11They're gonna love it or hate it, but they're gonna see it, and they're gonna know who it is, and
20:14that's always the goal.
20:17If what I see is what Joseph is gonna send on the runway, he's gonna go home.
20:25Hi!
20:28You love the tiniest skirt in the world.
20:31I'm gonna add more panels.
20:32Oh, you're gonna add more panels?
20:33Thank you so much.
20:34I'm sure she would love that, too.
20:37I love you, Chin, as a designer, but I just think that this look is just too revealing.
20:43But I'm just a little old lady.
20:47It's not unconventional if you're just using fabric.
20:50I gotta get the fit right first before I make it pretty, Christian.
20:53You need a manual for this coat.
20:55Where do you put your arms?
20:56I didn't realize you didn't have much done.
20:58I'm looking for an intern.
21:00Do you wanna apply?
21:01You can't afford me.
21:03What is happening?
21:05You have to get the dress done.
21:06No, I know.
21:07My plan of attack is to make a base and then cover it up with all the silver shit.
21:12It's just a bunch of sewing and a bunch of gluing.
21:15Oh, yeah.
21:15It's just like a bunch of sewing and gluing and making a whole dress.
21:18Oh, welcome.
21:19I am going to have to pull this one out of my ass.
21:23Whoa.
21:26It's something.
21:28I tried this dress on Jessica, and it is not doing what I need it to do.
21:32The vinyl is, like, super stiff.
21:35It didn't fall like I wanted it to.
21:37I gotta realign.
21:39I gotta readjust.
21:40What are you doing?
21:40You're just gonna cut it?
21:41Yeah.
21:42I gotta figure something out, because I cannot send this down a runway like this.
21:49Designers, say goodbye to your models.
21:55B, aggressive.
21:56B, B, aggressive.
21:58Oh, my gosh.
21:58B, aggressive.
22:01B, aggressive.
22:01B, aggressive.
22:02Oh, my gosh.
22:02Oh, my gosh.
22:05We're always done.
22:08Hey.
22:09Oh.
22:10I'm going to be in the rain.
22:11Ooh.
22:12A lot of work need to be done today.
22:15The runway is today, and I only have a couple hours to cover this dress, so I am locked in.
22:23If I don't cover this whole dress, I could be on the chopping block.
22:30Oh, no, it's, well, this is not going to work for me.
22:35Miss Joan, look what I made you.
22:37She.
22:38Yeah.
22:39Yeah, okay.
22:40No, ma'am.
22:42It's called the Joan Floss.
22:45Hello.
22:46Hello.
22:47So, so before I send in your models, there's just one small thing.
22:52Here we go.
22:53A tour.
22:55The runway show is happening right here in the workroom in two and a half hours.
23:01Whoa.
23:02What?
23:03Yep.
23:04Oh.
23:04Right here.
23:05Ah.
23:06Let me tell you, in this room, you can see it all.
23:10I really don't think what I'm doing is going to look very good in this lighting.
23:15I'm in trouble.
23:15This is the first ever in Project Runway history, actually.
23:19Wow.
23:19Like we said in the beginning, new home, new rules.
23:24I'm excited.
23:25I feel like you need a model.
23:25All right, ladies, let's go.
23:27Yeah.
23:28Hi, girl.
23:29Hi.
23:30What do you think?
23:31That's everything.
23:33Madeline, you're not done?
23:34I'm really far behind.
23:36This is it.
23:36This goes across the middle.
23:38I love her, but I don't like Joan's look.
23:41I just think it's so simple for the amount of time that we had.
23:44Well, it doesn't look like a Popsicle anymore.
23:47I don't really know what it looks like.
23:53So she's like a denim Barbie.
23:55Yeah.
23:56With a pink flag coat.
23:57Mm-hmm.
23:59I am a little worried.
24:01I'm not worried.
24:02Did you see around the workroom?
24:05I mean, Jushin's look, what is he doing with the soccer balls?
24:08For me, that's not unconventional.
24:10It's just soccer balls caught up.
24:12Don't waste your worry on me.
24:14You're very confident.
24:16You got to be confident.
24:17We have 29 minutes.
24:19It's the final stretch.
24:21Oh, fabulous.
24:23You just make it higher to here and just there's plenty to.
24:27I want the lashes big.
24:28Could you put two on there?
24:29Yeah.
24:31This is sickening.
24:33You ate that.
24:34Models have to be dressed.
24:36I mean, the whole booty is out.
24:39All right, I'm missing a piece here.
24:41She's getting an A.
24:42It's a huge advantage to have your family member, best friend, and twin here.
24:46I clearly need support, obviously, and I'm jealous.
24:50I told you guys, they're working together again.
24:55They just have to deal with it.
24:57All right, designers, that's it.
24:58That's time.
25:00Oh.
25:00Models, come with me.
25:03This is getting spiked.
25:04Okay, ready for a workroom runway show?
25:07Yes.
25:08The first ever.
25:10I'm excited.
25:11Every designer better bring their A game because workroom runway,
25:15the lights are brighter, clothes are judges,
25:18so the design better be perfect.
25:20I struggled, and I'm really worried about it.
25:23I'm thinking I'm going to be in the bottom or kicked out.
25:25This is pretty unconventional.
25:27The runway, everything.
25:29Let's bring out our judge for this unconventional materials challenge,
25:32and yes, our judge.
25:34One judge.
25:36One judge.
25:37Oh, judge.
25:39Come on.
25:41Oh, my God, one judge.
25:42Please don't let it be law.
25:44Please don't let it be law.
25:45If it's law, I'm screwed.
25:52Let's bring out our judge for this unconventional materials challenge,
25:56and yes, our judge.
25:59Okay.
25:59Oh, judge.
26:03Oh!
26:08The bitch is back.
26:10What?
26:11What the f**k, law?
26:12Oh.
26:14The FDA award-winning stylist, image architect, icon, Law Rauch.
26:24Oh, this is going to be interesting.
26:26Law is very critical in his judging.
26:29He can really push your butt ends and get that dark side out of you.
26:32As you know, I started the challenge with you, so it was only right that I end the challenge
26:38with you.
26:38Yes.
26:39For this first individual challenge, you were tasked to make a look with unconventional
26:44materials from a middle school.
26:46And a science fair at that.
26:48That's hard.
26:48I have no idea what you guys grabbed, but I hope this Runaway Show is anything but elementary.
26:54Let's do it.
27:03When my model is working on the wrong way, I feel so excited, so fresh, and so happy.
27:09I love meso-carbott miniskirt.
27:12And the booty.
27:13I think it's super bold.
27:18I'm really proud about my work.
27:21Transforming Charlotte Cox and creating a piece that looks like lace is a huge achievement
27:26for this challenge.
27:27So I'm like, okay, I hope that they appreciate it.
27:30My God, maybe this is the time that I will win.
27:37You know, watching it walk down the runway, it's not as bad as I remembered.
27:42The lighting is actually helping.
27:44It's shining, it's reflecting.
27:47I still think I'm going to be in the bottom as I'm watching it, but I'm like, it's really
27:51not as bad as I thought it was going to be.
28:00Using this vinyl banner, I am taking a chance that they may think it's not unconventional
28:05enough.
28:06Bad girl, bad girl.
28:08I just hope that Long gets the vision of this, like, bad rebel schoolgirl that does not
28:15care.
28:23I think it looks cool.
28:24I think it definitely looks wearable.
28:26I think the colors are fun and bright.
28:28That's the piece, I'm the artist.
28:30Roll it, definitely me.
28:32Bucket hat, definitely me.
28:34Shorts, absolutely me.
28:37Vest, it looks cute.
28:40I'm cautiously proud of it.
28:42I'm determined to listen to my own individual design and voices.
28:46Hit him with the flags, better than the bags.
28:49Come on, rock star.
28:51I'm extremely proud of myself with what I created with Unconventional.
28:55I look at this look and I'm like, wow, I can totally see this, like, an artist for sure.
29:00I want Law to notice, like, all the hard work that it took to create this pattern out of just
29:06volleyballs.
29:07I want him to notice the structure.
29:08I want him to notice the material.
29:10But I also want him to wonder, what is it made out of?
29:14Because it looks really good.
29:18I like my look going down the runway.
29:20It looks super tribal, and you can't really even tell that it's made from Popsicle sticks.
29:27It's supposed to be like a snakeskin.
29:29I think I was very successful in using these unconventional materials.
29:34I met the challenge head on.
29:42She's flying down the runway.
29:44It's excessive.
29:45There is a busy but very refined look to it.
29:50Law is really difficult to read, but I know that I killed it this week, so I'm excited
29:57to hear what he thinks.
30:02I am, like Ethan would say, gagged.
30:06My look is impeccably made.
30:08I'm not concerned.
30:09I feel like I made a runway piece.
30:11I wanted the lights on her.
30:12I wanted to walk that runway.
30:15I understood the assignment.
30:16I feel confident in my look.
30:17I can't wait for you to see who made this.
30:21I'm gagged.
30:22I am gagged.
30:23I have no idea who made what.
30:25It's a blind runway.
30:26And it is stressing me out.
30:31At this point of the competition, I definitely feel like I still have to prove that I can
30:36do this by myself.
30:37So here we go.
30:39Give me a win, bitch.
30:44All right.
30:45Law made some decisions.
30:47Oh, God.
30:47I feel like Law and I have a hate and love relationship.
30:51I'm nervous.
30:52I truly have no idea who made what.
30:55So I am going to be so surprised.
30:58It's a blind runway.
30:59Are you ready to see Law's favorite look?
31:03Yes.
31:03Yes.
31:06Word.
31:07Yay!
31:08Wow.
31:09Good job.
31:11Oh, wow.
31:13Which designer did this?
31:14Do you want to come stand by your look?
31:16Wow.
31:18So Law, is that who you thought it was?
31:21No.
31:22I am pleasantly surprised.
31:24Your look was cohesive, inspired.
31:27This is high camp.
31:29Creativity, overload.
31:31It just reminds me of like old Gaga.
31:33Like, my favorite part is that little piece of underboot.
31:37Like, ah!
31:39Can I see the little booty one more time?
31:40Yes.
31:41The way it shapes her body.
31:42It is so good.
31:43I am very impressed and very surprised.
31:46Welcome to the competition.
31:48Well, Yuchen, congratulations.
31:50You are the winner of the Unconventional Challenge.
31:53Thank you, guys.
31:54Thank you, guys.
31:58I feel so blessed, so happy to win the challenge.
32:01And I feel so honored when Law say Lady Gaga because Lady Gaga is the one who saved me.
32:08And Lady Gaga is the reason that I'm doing fashion.
32:11So this is an ultimate compliment.
32:14I think well deserved.
32:16Can I say that to myself?
32:17Law, what about any honorable mentions?
32:20There was one that was completely covered in butterflies that I thought was really, really well done and really beautiful.
32:28Oh!
32:31Thank you so much.
32:33High drag, baby.
32:34High drag.
32:36Yes.
32:37I have redeemed myself from last week.
32:41Oh, what a whirlwind this competition has been.
32:43So I am feeling on top of the world.
32:46I also really like the one that was made out of the, um, what do you call it?
32:52Cock rings?
32:54Not cock rings.
32:55What is it?
32:56What is it called?
32:57Shuttle cocks.
32:58Shuttle cocks.
32:59The one that was made out of shuttle cocks.
33:01I thought that was really incredible.
33:03So raise your hand if that was your design.
33:08I think that my dress is so much better than Yuchen.
33:12But I am happy that they see the craftsmanship.
33:15I am happy that I'm one of the top three.
33:17But Lady Gaga come to Project Runway to win challenges.
33:20I am here in Project Runway to win the entire thing.
33:24VJ's look, it's interesting, but VJ's been all over the map.
33:27I still truly don't know what her aesthetic is.
33:31All right.
33:31Now what Law felt did not make the winning grade.
33:35Law had three least favorites.
33:39First Lookout.
33:45It's just too many things for me, Joseph.
33:47To me, I just felt like someone was trying to fool me to look at all these things.
33:51I'm like, oh, it's this ensemble and it's fab.
33:53And I just didn't think it was fab at all.
33:55I keep looking at it and the little droplets just look like crack vials.
33:59And it's like disturbing me.
34:02You also signed it.
34:03And I felt that that was really cocky.
34:07All right, Joseph.
34:10It's definitely a shocker to be in the bottom.
34:12And it just hurts that Law felt like my name on the back of my gunner was cocky.
34:17Because that's not where it was coming from.
34:19I love my look down.
34:21Down.
34:22I was not expecting this at all.
34:24All right, so now another one of Law's least favorite looks.
34:32Is that who you thought I designed it?
34:34No.
34:35It just looks so sad.
34:37I don't get the gold and silver earring.
34:38I don't understand the transparent shoe.
34:40Painted black was not a good choice.
34:43It looks like dead vegetation.
34:45Just throw her in a compost.
34:48Wow, I'm taken aback by these comments.
34:51This is the second week in a row that I'm getting feedback from Law and it's just not favorable.
34:58I just don't know where to go from here.
35:00All right, let's bring out the last of Law's least favorite look.
35:07What the ?
35:13I didn't know who look this was.
35:15You standing next to it, I don't think I would have got this.
35:19I thought I was going to be the winner, so.
35:20You, huh?
35:22You are here totally based on the styling of this look.
35:27I like the dress a lot, but the denim boots and that denim bag took me out.
35:33I would be doing you a disservice if I didn't teach you those things, right?
35:36That's why I'm here, to share my expertise.
35:39I like it.
35:39I mean, it's that he likes it.
35:45He's making it worse for you.
35:47And we can fight all day about it.
35:49You can tell him you like it.
35:50You sticking out for your brother, but it's ugly.
35:51It's wrong.
35:52It takes away from the fun of it.
35:54Honestly, like, Law is so sassy and he's so bitchy, but, like, I don't care.
35:59I'm so proud of Antonio because I think, like, he's truly finding himself as a designer in this competition.
36:06This could have very well been at the Grammys, but not with that boot.
36:09All right, thank you, Luz.
36:10You can leave the runway.
36:13I know I'm an amazing stylist, so I was blown away with this whole situation.
36:18I'm confused.
36:20Law picked his least favorite looks.
36:23Fashion is full of difficult decisions.
36:27And the decision of which designer is going to be out will be made by all of you.
36:37No.
36:38Well, that's right.
36:40You'll be deciding who had the worst look.
36:43So, Yuchen and all of the designers that are not in the bottom three have a vote for which of
36:50the bottom three designers will be in and who is out.
36:53And maybe there's someone who just wants you out of the competition.
37:03Holy guacamole.
37:05This can be happening.
37:07We have to vote someone out.
37:09Us?
37:10What?
37:11All right, so safe designers want to head to the lounge.
37:13Joan, Joseph, Antonio, you guys can head to the sewing room, okay?
37:17The last thing I want to do is to be a part of crushing someone's dreams.
37:22This is bullshit.
37:26It just got real.
37:29It just got mad, bro.
37:36I need a glass of wine after that.
37:39That was a curveball.
37:41Didn't see this coming.
37:43This is a big decision.
37:46I'm speechless.
37:48My brother's in the bottom three.
37:49I cannot allow anyone to vote Antonio off right now.
37:53What do you guys think?
37:55It's just really sad that we have to choose somebody to go home because if it was really up to
38:00me, I would really keep them because they're a part of my growth and they're a part of my journey.
38:05And I don't want to send anybody home.
38:09Of course, I'm not going to take Antonio out because I truly do not believe he should be going home
38:15because I really do love his look.
38:19I am very partial to Joseph's look and I am obsessed with his aesthetic and I really want to see
38:26him here because I just love his work.
38:29I know, but in my opinion, how many more skater skirts or big oversized stuff are we going to see?
38:35For me, Ms. Jones has delivered beautiful pieces besides this one, which is unconventional.
38:42We need to consider the challenge.
38:45Ms. Jones transformed the unconventional material compared to Joseph to show that circle skirt in the square is an insult.
38:55Literally, we are here to push ourselves.
38:59I think as designers, it's our responsibility to create amazing stuff just to give back.
39:05You know, the effort that they've been doing for us.
39:09They're doing this for us.
39:10They're giving us a platform to show our work to amazing people.
39:16And there's a lot of designers who want that spot.
39:19And for you to give me a circle skirt in a square is an insult.
39:24I don't think it's an insult.
39:25I really disagree with that point.
39:27See, that's what I'm saying.
39:28It's like, I'm not taking it against him.
39:31I'm taking on what I saw.
39:32We have 16 hours.
39:34And I'm like, it's like, you know, like, it's at least like...
39:37She has a valid point.
39:38I don't think it's a valid point, honestly.
39:41I think no matter how much time you have, like, you can make something simple and it can be more
39:46beautiful than spending time on, like, an elaborate corset or something.
39:48Talking about the challenge, the challenge was unconventional.
39:52Yeah, I mean, I don't know.
39:53What's unconventional about a huge banner that is literally five yards of, that looks like fabric.
40:00Like, I've seen amazing work from him.
40:01That's why I'm like, I was so surprised because I wasn't...
40:04Well, then judge it on his catalog of work.
40:07I think subjectively, Miss Jones is the worst.
40:11She bit off a lot.
40:13She worked with a very difficult material and she did the best she could with it.
40:17But comparative to everybody else, it really was not that good.
40:21Maybe it's not beautiful for you.
40:23It's not your aesthetic.
40:24But I think she fulfilled the challenge.
40:27I agree.
40:28Trust me, I love Joseph.
40:30I think, Joseph, that's why I'm so annoyed because I know he's good.
40:34This is about creativity and for you to show me that, like, there's no creativity there.
40:39I'm not necessarily worried about myself because it's just like, I stand in my truth 100%.
40:45You look at Joseph McCrae, you see Joseph McCrae.
40:47If that's intimidating, so be it.
40:49But do I want to go home?
40:52No.
40:53Do what you think is right.
40:54I'm not convincing anyone, but that's just, if I'm going to base it out of the challenge,
40:58I felt that Miss Joan transformed a conventional challenge better than Joseph.
41:05I don't know what's going on.
41:07I don't think that my garment was that bad.
41:10I may be voted out, but I'm not ready to go home.
41:14I am ready to take it to the end.
41:16I have so much more to show.
41:19This is so up.
41:20It's horrible.
41:21I don't want to vote for any of them.
41:22I love everybody, but we have to make the decisions.
41:25That's it.
41:25I feel like there's a lot going on, and it's giving me anxiety.
41:30I'm like, this could be a strategy, and the designers can try to kick me out
41:33because they've been trying to separate my brother and I,
41:36or they're really going to send the person that's been doing the same shit over and over and over.
41:41Joseph McCrae.
41:43I'm not voting for Joseph.
41:45I'm just not.
41:46Wow, wow, wow.
41:48I don't want to have to vote for anybody, but you have to vote for somebody.
41:53Splitting up the twins would be so gaggy.
41:56I think I know what to do.
