00:43AMT high.
00:45On time passing 30 seconds onto the flights.
00:48Integrity passes the ultimate vehicle.
00:50Target milestone.
00:51Mission Control Houston's a good performance on the loading engines.
00:54Space launch system core stage.
00:56Integrity, 3 miles in altitude.
01:00Traveling more than 1,200 miles per hour.
01:08That is awful.
01:09Oh my gosh!
01:12And they are out of their mind right now.
01:16Yay!
01:18They are all over-loaded flights.
01:21Standby for separation.
01:30We have good separation. Good motion.
01:33Clear. ATP go.
01:36Confirmation. Separation from the Interim Cryogenic Propulsion Stage.
01:40Good motion. Go for 180 pitch. Confirmed. Separation confirmed, Houston.
01:45Houston.
01:46Houston copies.
01:47All right. Here comes the pitch rate.
02:03All right. Here comes the pitch rate.
02:14Whoo.
02:43Lost at all.
05:47I'm super stoked that there's a female astronaut going up and it is just really incredible
05:52to see, just to see the diversity just going up into space and even having someone from
05:57Canada and I think just in light of the way things are in the world right now, I think
06:00it's a reminder that so many of us wanted to pause and see what's happening.
06:30I think it's just really exciting that there's a Canadian on this mission to the moon and
06:36it's a really great inspirational moment for all Canadians as we celebrate Jeremy Hansen
06:41and Dr. Jenny Sadi Gibbons as well, who's doing the CAPCOM connecting earth with the moon
06:47in communications and I think it's going to be a really, really wonderful experience for
06:52Canadians to get excited about this historic moment but also start to explore the science
06:57behind it as well.
07:05Let me begin by congratulating the team at NASA and our brave
07:11astronauts on the successful launch of Artemis 2.
07:15It was quite something.
07:17It will be traveling further than any manned rocket has ever flown and will very substantially
07:23pass the moon, go around it and come back home from a distance that has never been done
07:29before.
07:30It's amazing.
07:32They are on the way and God bless them.
07:35These are brave people.
07:37We want to God bless those four unbelievable astronauts as we speak this evening.
07:44So today, April 1st, 2026, 6.35 p.m., NASA's Space Launch System rocket lifted off the pad
07:51with 8.8 million pounds of thrust carrying the Orion spacecraft and the Artemis 2 crew out
07:57to Earth orbit and beginning America's grand return to the moon.
08:02Now about 51 minutes into the flight during a planned handover between satellites, the Orion
08:07spacecraft underwent a communications issue leading to a temporary partial loss of comms.
08:13The uplink from CAPCOM to the crew was being heard by the crew but we cannot hear their responses
08:18for a brief period of time.
08:20There were no issues with the vehicle itself.
08:22Comms with the crew had been restored.
08:24We're actively working the issue and we'll keep you informed.
08:28And with that, thank you all for coming out and covering humanity's return to the moon.
