China’s Supergrid is an ambitious energy project that aims to connect the entire country through an ultra-high-voltage (UHV) electricity transmission network. It will transport renewable energy—especially solar and wind power—from resource-rich regions (like deserts and remote areas) to major cities and industrial hubs. The goal is to replace fossil fuels with clean electricity on a large scale, reducing oil consumption in sectors like transport, manufacturing, and power generation.
