00:10Welcome to WatchMojo and today we're counting down our picks for the Top 10 Badass One Piece
00:16moments.
00:31Being the cream of the crop of the Celestial Dragons, we could already guess that the five
00:36elders were going to be detestable bastards.
00:39Well, it turns out that at least one of them was worse than we expected.
00:49Saint Saturn was pretty much behind most of the awful stuff that both Kuma and Bonnie had
00:55gone through in their lives, and it seemed like he was going to make things all the more
00:59worse by killing Bonnie.
01:01But right before he can, despite having his humanity and will taken away from him with
01:07all sorts of crazy experiments, Kuma suddenly makes the save and strikes the elder with one
01:12of the most badass punches in the series.
01:25The fact that the opening song at the time, Angel and Devil, plays right as Bonnie realizes
01:31what's happening, makes this moment all the more perfect.
01:499.
01:50Mere Emperor Pretty much everyone was terrified of Big Mom, and
01:55it was for good reason.
01:56She was one of the four emperors of the sea and possessed some of the most broken devil
02:01fruit abilities, soul pokus in particular.
02:04So for Jinbei to confront her face to face and proclaim that he was breaking all ties with
02:10her, took a lot of balls.
02:23Just as everyone expected, Big Mom does not take Jinbei's departure kindly, and immediately
02:29asks him, stay or life.
02:44Much to the surprise of the emperor, it has no effect on the former warlord of the sea.
02:49But the real kicker is when Jinbei makes his proclamation to her.
03:048.
03:05Odin Boiled There's a reason why Odin's retainers were so
03:09devoutly loyal to their lord, and perhaps this moment is the best example of why.
03:14After failing to defeat Kaido due to his underlings' trickery, Odin and the Akazaya Nine are sentenced
03:21to death by Orochi.
03:22The method of their execution, boiled to death inside of a giant pot.
03:39Odin refuses to let his retainers meet their end, however, and proceeds to carry all of
03:44them above his head as he boils for hours upon hours.
03:53Any normal human would have died in seconds, but this is the Daimyo of Kuri we're talking
03:58about here, and he only meets his end when he's shot in the head by Kaido.
04:157.
04:16Shanks Sings Kid Eustace Kid and his crew must have felt like hot
04:21shit after he defeated Big Mom alongside Trafalgar Law at the end of the Wano arc.
04:27Unfortunately, he really must have let it go to his head if he thought he could take out
04:32the one and only Shanks.
04:34After seeing a vision where his crew gets absolutely obliterated by Kid's railgun, the red-haired
04:40pirate takes matters into his own hands and blasts right through the Kid pirate's fleet.
04:54With but one move, the divine departure, Shanks slices right through Kid's weapon, easily defeating
05:01him.
05:11Even though Kid's crew beg for mercy, Shanks is having none of it and allows Dory and Brogy
05:16to devastate their ship.
05:376.
05:38Whitebeard Dies Standing Whitebeard was one of the most powerful pirates
05:43to have ever existed, seriously, this guy's strengths rivaled even that of the King of
05:48the Pirates, Gold Roger.
05:50Unfortunately, his life would come to an end at the summit war of Marineford.
06:03After taking all sorts of attacks during this insane skirmish, it's Blackbeard and his crew's
06:08relentless onslaught of bullets that are enough to finally kill him.
06:13Despite all this, even in death, Whitebeard stands triumphantly, with his back not showing
06:18a single scar, meaning he never ran away from a fight.
06:27Even in death, Whitebeard is a certified badass.
06:395.
06:40I Needed A Light Apart from Luffy's rubberman abilities nullifying
06:45them, it's pretty much a given that anyone who gets a hit by one of Enel's electrical attacks
06:51is going to be left on the verge of death.
06:59Just as Usopp and Nami are about to make their escape from the Arch Maxim, Enel fires an Eltor
07:05straight towards them.
07:20Right before it hits, however, Sanji gets in the way and sacrifices himself, taking the
07:25full brunt of it.
07:27Somehow the Straw Hat Chef tanks the hit and stands tall, thanking the Kami of Skypiea for
07:33the light.
07:394.
07:40Luffy Protects Hiroluke's Flag Desecrating someone's flag in One Piece is
07:46one of the biggest signs of disrespect, especially for the Straw Hat Captain Luffy.
07:595.
07:59When Wappel attempts to shoot down Hiroluke's flag with Luffy, much to the dismay of Chopper,
08:05Luffy decides not to move an inch and takes on the attack.
08:09Emerging from the smoke, Luffy stands triumphantly with the flag still mostly intact.
08:18It's a moment we'll never forget, and we have no doubt that it definitely won Chopper
08:23over.
08:303.
08:31Nothing Happened Just as it seemed the Thriller Park arc was
08:35finally reaching its conclusion after the defeat of Gekko Moria, a much bigger threat arrives
08:41on the scene, Kuma.
08:56The warlord of the sea, who is after Luffy's life, makes quick work of whoever is left standing.
09:02In order to save his captain, Zoro steps up and bravely offers his own life instead.
09:16This display of loyalty sways Kuma, who decides to offer to let Luffy go, but only if Zoro takes
09:22in all of his pain.
09:24Without hesitation, Zoro accepts, despite the fact that it could very well kill him.
09:29The following badass scene of Zoro covered in blood is etched into the minds of all One
09:35Piece fans.
09:36And when Sanji discovers him and asks what the heck happened, this is all Zoro can say.
09:472.
09:48Shoot Down That Flag While desperately attempting to rescue their fellow
09:53crew member, Nico Robin, the Straw Hats confront these CP9 members right in the middle of Eni's
09:58lobby in one of the most badass showdowns of the series.
10:02The Cypherpoll Agency's leader, Spandam, is more than happy to remind them just how out
10:08of their minds they are, and that to fight against them is the same as opposing the entire
10:20world.
10:21Not one to back down against anything, Luffy boldly orders Sogeking to shoot down the world
10:27government's flag, an act that is seen as a declaration of war.
10:32No matter what the Straw Hats come up against, even if it's the most powerful organization
10:36on the planet, they'll always watch out for each other.
10:461.
10:47The Walk To Arlong Park For many, this was a moment that defined the early
10:52stages of One Piece.
10:54With nowhere else to turn after Arlong betrays and robs her of her money, Nami finally gives
11:00in and asks Luffy for help.
11:02In response, Luffy entrusts her with his straw hat and yells out loud that of course he will.
11:13He then proceeds to walk to Arlong Park with the rest of his crew.
11:17While you could say this is just Toei animation prolonging the scene to make the episode's
11:22runtime, there's just something extremely badass about seeing Luffy, Zoro, Sanshi, and Usopp
11:29walk towards Arlong Park in solidarity.
11:37This is also one of the first times the tune Overtaken is played in the anime, cementing
11:42it as one of the most iconic themes in the series.
